I like how in the Midwest they still have the telephone and telegraph lines still in place along the tracks. I know some of the seldom used railroads still used them until not too long ago for switch and signal controls because it wasn't cost effective to upgrade them to fiber and wireless systems. One of my douche bag cousins in Indiana got some federal time about 10 years ago for scrapping copper off some poles along what he thought was an abandoned railroad that hadn't had a train down it in 20 years or more. Apparently some of the pairs were still being reserved for signal communication.

Happy New Year to you and your family Brian! At 21:10 there is a spur that goes off to the right.... looks abandoned. Is there a customer there?I am definitely starting a "Go Fund Me" page for CCET so they can repaint their locomotives.... for instance, at 7:00 and 11:00 minutes into your video. I am speaking about CCET 2414. I like the color scheme red/white logo on a black background. But MAN! Let's see some new professional paint! I will not be voting for "Best Short line Railway" until I SEE SOME NEW PAINT!!!

Cinci Railroad, cool beans. YCR 332 Cincinnati East Terminal Railway .EMD SD45-2.is a 6-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD). EMD built 136 locomotives between 1972 and 1974, primarily for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (ATSF).

332 built as EL 3657, SDP45, rebuilt after 1972 wreck with SD45-2 hood. Kids threw a switch and the EL train ran into a siding at speed, I think everything above the frame was replaced as it doesn't even have the EL notch and wheel handbrake the rest of those had. While three others from the same order were rebuilt as SD40-2Ms for SP I think this is the last one still in service anywhere.

Used to walk Claire yard as a child visiting my grandparents. My mother would tell me of how the yard was when she was a child. The office/restaurant/ crew change place at the bottom of that abandoned road across from the river crossing. Caught a couple of trains coming off that bridge on the peavine way back then. Your videos are awesome and as a short line or branch line junkie I really appreciate them. Been watching you for almost three years, keep it up!

Speaking of trains, Brian, I was at the fire department that I applied to join last year when I heard a train horn as I opened the passenger door on my friend's car. Sure enough, Lycoming Valley Railroad (my local short line railroad) came through running North Shore Railroad locomotive 2017 as the motive power for the train and a consist of 6 covered hoppers.

Great 2020 debut, Brian! I think that was the biggest collection of hoppers I have seen where every one was a different owner, I think. It was crazy to hear the ties and ballast creaking under the weight of those loaded cars. That trestle is so picturesque, a rail fan's dream. I wanted to ask, that siding at 21:00 in Sardinia, is it active?

Excellent video jaw tooth I hope you had a wonderful New year's with plenty of pork and kraut Those crossing signals tried to malfunction there for a second and where that train goes into the grain elevator than train crew needs to go back there and remove all the grass and debris away from the tracks and in the middle of the tracks and put some brand-new ballast under it it might need some new ties too that train trestle looks pretty high and I was also wondering that end of train device they put on the very last train car at night when it's dark it blinks I those Ohio Central's trains use those and some other times they'll have like the red flag put inside the coupler at the very last train car and when you walked past that crossing going towards your car when you turned your back the signals malfunctioned and turned back on at 18:14 and I noticed that there was a siding a second train track going towards the left in Sardinia Ohio I'm curious where that goes if it's still in service or not in service I noticed when the train was leaving I noticed that there is yet another spur heading towards the right on that other track in Sardinia and in Mt orab Ohio I also noticed that there is a red caboose and that is a lot of groundhog holes

The restrictions on the number of Axles on the engine for use on the spur, is that due to the radius of curves encountered, or indirectly related to weight restrictions? Looking online, it seems like the radius might be the reason. Good show, as always.
@comajoebuck9995 жыл бұрын
Jean Jean Probably radius. There are locomotives with an unpowered 3rd axle/truck for weight issues.

Great to see some of the American loco’s and countryside on a smaller scale, l enjoyed watching & thanks for your efforts! Just an observation l noticed a couple of vehicles proceeded thru 2 of the level crossings whilst the flashing lights were in operation, l know there were no booms but is it legal to slow or stop and look then proceed thru as we have the same level crossing equipment here in Australia (state of Victoria) as you do but if a cop sees that over here they would throw the book at you! Anyway thanks again great filming!
