Trains Passing Twice, Military Train Surprises Us & CSX Sponge Bob Locomotives In Glendale Ohio

Trains Passing At A Railroad Crossing. Norfolk Southern & CSX Trains In Glendale, Ohio. Special Military Train With Low Level Munitions, Sponge Bob Square Cab Locomotives On Local With Maintenance Of Way Excavator And A Couple Of More Trains Passing In Front Of Me.
I went to Glendale, Ohio to hang out with the local railfans just before I went to Florida. We were here most of the day and as you will see we got some awesome trains. At one point we had to wait for over two hours for a train but we got surprised with a rare military train that had Union Pacific locomotives pulling it. This was a Department Of Defense unit train that had Class 1.4 explosives.
The containers say "explosives" on them and the placards have 1.4 on them. Here is what I found when I looked up 1.4 explosives: " division 1.4 consists of explosives that present a minor explosion hazard. the explosive effects are largely confined to the package and no projection of fragments of appreciable size or range is to be expected. " In addition I found this: " Division 1.4 consists of explosives that present a minor blast hazard. Examples are common fireworks, toy caps, empty primed grenades, and some small arms ammunition. "
Right after that train passes on Main 1 another train was approaching and passed it on Main 2.

Those are very hard to run around. They call them quad gates. I haven't seen anyone try to get around them so they are definitely a good idea

Thanks Jaw Tooth for the prayers of the medical emergency I had Monday, March 4th. Scary, but still here. 2 days in intensive care unit, then one day in General room, released from hospital on March 7th. Congestive Heart Failure and could not catch my breathe, plus A-Fib acting up. Three very different and rather long trains to start. Then a Union Pacific intermodal. Almost all the containers were really long and the same color. Never saw that before. Then right away there is number 5, mixed manifest. Thank you Jawtooth. I enjoyed all the action from Glendale. ❤

Let me tell you why :-) in our house for some random reason we count the number of Ferromex autoracks in every yrain and that one you filmed had 8 that we could count and that’s a new record for us! Good to see you back in the saddle. I think I mentioned this before but I went to my spot (I do not film) off of Spring Grove. As you are heading towards the Queensgate Yard there is a traffic light. Marshall Avenue is on the left right at the Sunoco Gas Station. If you take a right and go behind the Ohio Intermodel Services building you will see a ton of tracks. I arrived at 3:30 and saw three trains and a CSX crew change in the span of a half hour. It's always busy and worth a shot to film. Also, if you venture over to River Road on the Westside, stop into Jim & Jack's and try the fish. Best in the city!

An awesome day as you kick off the audio visual Trackside Adventure. Trains with automobiles and agriculture even some ammunition. Luckily you were near your favorite restaurant to satisfy your appetite and quench your thirst. The military train was a real bonus and apparently did start it's journey on the UP. With the unique buffer cars including a Missouri Pacific former Railbox car to the old covered hopper it appears additional tonnage was picked up later. It's possible some of those older auto racks live on as repurposed flats plus two vintage flats ATTX & TTCX which can only carry four 20 ft containers. You may have to get black squirrels as your production assistants because all the regular dogs and cats were napping
