We moved there in 1968, right before I turned 7 - so in 1985 I was 23.. lived on the westside, which hadn't gone so downhill at that point, I remember seeing Hall and Oates in concert, and U2 at the Coliseum. The Breakfast Club, Passage to India, Visionquest with Matthew Modine (very cute at the time!) and Madonna singing "Crazy for You," The Goonies, Back to the Future, Prince singing Raspberry Beret.. etc. good stuff. a very cheerful, innocent feel in the atmosphere at that time! I wish I could find vintage photos of the Roosevelt Mall which my mother and I shopped at so often:))

Moved down here in the Summer of 85. It was quite culture shock moving from New Hampshire.

Also, I went to Jefferson Davis Jr. High, and would have gone to Forrest, but ended up going to Trinity Christian Academy for awhile:) My mother was a periodicals reference librarian at South Campus for F.J.C. The architecture was so nice. I do remember the Hayden Burns library, and also the Willowbranch library especially:) I very much remember WAPE! I used to talk to some of the djs for fun there. Also, Y103 was good. I went to the KMart on the westside, but the one on Beach Blvd was nice also, did alot of clothes shopping at these, they had cute styles for jrs. We had Winn Dixie in the Cedar Hills Shopping Center, loved the S &S cafeteria and the dollar theater.

I had moved to Jax in the summer of 1984 at the age of 15. I got my drivers license in 1985 and did quite a bit of driving around town in my Pontiac Sunbird listening to "We built this city." I thought it was a decent song. The drive from Mandarin to Wolfson High School was a pretty good drive.
