I am also a Leo and it took me a long time to figure out that I can be a light for others and still be part of the flow. My daughter just married last weekend and it was a joy to step back and just support her dream, help with her self-designed and hand knit wedding dress and be open to all the love. Next week I return to instructing Tai Chi which helps me thrive by unlocking the energy of the women who are brave enough to learn something new. You always show us that vulnerability is a strength

After several life transitions, including profound grief, dropping one of my sons off at college, illness, and the joy of our first grandchild, I have a new found appreciation for being present, letting go of the need for perfectionism......and even letting go of worry....instead I am finding gratitude in all of life's moments, sitting with all of the feelings - good and bad....just all of it, so that thriving is actually just being....just being able to wake up each morning to a day of new possibilities and choosing gratitude in all things....things do not always go as hoped but there is a peace in the acceptance of what is-- this is THRIVING 💖

I think I’m thriving because knitting has become my creative outlet. I love that it allows me to express myself through color, texture, and design. Whether it’s a sock or a sweater, I pour a part of myself into every piece. The process of choosing the yarn, feeling it in my hands, and watching it come together stitch by stitch is incredibly fulfilling. Plus, it’s therapeutic-it helps me slow down and focus on the moment, which is so valuable in today’s world. Knitting has allowed me to challenge myself, connect with others, and express my creativity. I truly believe it’s an art form that continues to push me forward, and it is fun to think about what I will create next. Love the pink colorway you shared as your next one 😍

What a wonderful contemplative podcast and, question. I recently retired from healthcare and turn 65 this year. I have found during this quiet season that thriving for me includes time I never allowed myself in the 24 hr world of taking care of patients, families, staff and teams. That energy has now shifted to listen to the quiet, the wind, the pine trees, birds, children laughing and relearning and being curious on how to shower myself with the same level of care. It’s been challenging to make this shift but slowly the contemplative time is a happy reminder on how to be more childlike, joyful and thankful for the gift of every day. ❤

I am very late to this most recent of videos but being a first grade teacher, you know that the first month of school is a bit crazy. Although I am nearing , and looking forward to retirement (about 6 more years), I thrive by watching my students have moments of pure joy. I thrive sharing my life and love of adventures and knitting with them and weaving that love into life lessons but I also thrive by recharging by battery and giving back to myself so I can show up every day for those little souls. Happy belated birthday!

Watching my daughter and Mom fight so hard this year made me realize how precious time is. I have become so protective of my time. I have stopped trying to please others by putting myself last, and have started spending my time in ways that fulfill me. It can be a walk or run, rock climbing, knitting, gardening, reading, playing with color. Thriving for me has been taking my time back.

Thriving… interesting to contemplate. I paused the podcast to think… I’ve realized when I am thriving, I’m not really conscious of it, but when I’m not thriving and stuck am so very aware of that gap. Today is one year since my youngest daughter overdosed, and rocked me to my core in way I cannot put in words. Since then, I’ve been blessed to watch her this past year move towards thriving again. I also now see that I’ve been holding my breath this whole year, holding back from letting myself thrive. I saw this podcast posted 11 days ago, and remembered only today to watch. I believe there was no coincidence in timing... It’s time for me to let go and trust that it’s now my time to thrive again. I will do so with my knitting and crochet and love creating for myself and others. I will do so by finding inspiration in nature with my long walks in rain, snow, wind or shine. I will do so by filling up on my husband’s tender hugs. I will do so by soaking up the smiles and laughter of my daughters. Thank you for the story of the barista. Felt like you were talking to me about knitting life circles around ourselves. Love that ❤

How am I thriving right now? Well, it is a bit of a struggle. Knitting with my knitting group truly helps. It gets me out of my house. I'm a widow of 4 years, and am deciding on where to move to....so that I have more interaction with others. But on the happy side.....I've knit at least 8 shrugs, and there will be many many more!!! Jackie… I love your podcasts, your lust for life and all things fiber and philosophy. What an exquisite choice to have us each share our unique paths to “thriving”. In addition to putting “me first” I thrive most completely when I partake in some form of creativity. At this point in my journey, with an empty nest and a husband who has transitioned, I find I “thrive” the most when I put myself first, (not always easy for women)….an action that I needed to practice and practice again after so many life changes. Now my body hums with thriving when I allow myself to be creative, whether with one of the many instruments I enjoy; playing with the fibers in my coveted “stash”; singing to continue to raise my vibration; puttering in my ever evolving gardens with their myriad scents, colors and delights; and of course poking my nose in my book collection to feed my soul! Lastly, I also thrive when I watch your podcast, and find myself marking my calendar for when i think (and hope) your next lovely missive will appear. Like you, I’m grateful that summer is in the rear view mirror and now I can with abandon enter my “shrug season” Blissings upon you! Robin

I find that I am most thriving when I prioritize finding ease in my everyday life. Usually that means waking up before my family to read or knit quietly, sitting down to an afternoon tea break, and not trying too hard to make everything perfect in my life (my house, my work, cooking meals) when in reality accepting the imperfections or simpler options are absolutely “good enough.” Thank you for this podcast Jackie, and for your patterns! Thank you for a truly inspiering episode! At first thought of what thrives me right now my mind comes out blank. We’re stepping into the dark season up here, days getting shorter, colder & the scenery turns towards depressing grey. But then I started thinking, reflecting. Going dark really make me thrive by color. The inspiration of lovely wool yarns, the endless possabilities when combinating colors for a colorwork pattern, to be able to actually wear the knits without overhearing. The joy of beeing a knitter & a creater thrives me and allowing me to take time with a lovely video podcast while knitting makes me SO satisfied & fullfilled!

Thank you Jackie for this podcast, this is the one I’ve been waiting for since you started this channel. You seem so relaxed, content and on a journey to understanding what makes you truly happy, taking deviations down as many endless roads as they come up, seeking and learning. You create beautiful items and you’re willing to share your creativity with others so they can run their own creative gauntlet. What makes me thrive? Having the ability to step away from the corporate rat race, to actual give myself the time to understand myself and what I need. Using my creative juices not just to paint but finding jewellery design and jewellery making ticks a gigantic box in my creative expression, taking the plunge and putting my jewellery out there and for it to be well received. Fills my heart with warmth, gratitude and peace. Being able to say, in this moment, in this space, in this time, I am truly happy.

Thriving for me at this current point in time is being more self-aware, knowing what I need at any given moment and not depriving myself of it. Extending myself grace when I don't meet those self imposed expectations I make for myself. Reminding myself to stop and do the things that bring me joy. Allowing the pulse of excitement to simply flow through me and give those inspirations the space to shine. Remember how sharing with others is a crucial part of my experience in life. Nothing like a good shrug. I love to watch your videos when they pop up on u tube. You really made me think when you said what brings you gratitude? In my young years as a mom it was by 2 boys growing up. It was sewing/ needlepoint/ cross stitch/scrapbooking and of course knitting. Making sweaters for my boys when they were young. Then finding time later in life to knit for myself when I went on disability at the age of 40 after 3 back surgeries. Bringing a Knitting project for Breast Cancer patients when I was part of a cancer organization. Now I find it brings me gratitude to knit for myself and get pleasure from wearing what I make. It also brings me relaxation to help eleve some pain and for that i am always grateful. I have never knitted with Knitting for Olive but it is one of those yarns on my to try list.

What is helping me to thrive in this season of adult children and aging parents/in laws is learning to love myself and others exactly where I/they are. This year I am 61 and I am very conscious of what it is like to thrive. Sometimes we fool ourselves and think that thriving means we are always happy. Although the past several years have come with many challenges as my parents aged and became ill, I would still have to say I am thriving. This to say that although caring for my frail father, teaching part time, living alone and travelling to see grandchildren is exhausting I am thriving. Everyday, I am noting the beauty in this world and reflecting on how to become more of the self that I am meant to be. Thriving is not passive for me, it is an act of awareness.

Thrive-to blossom, my husband and I started our own business 3 years ago. It is the hardest, most challenging thing we have ever done. We say our business is like a seed we planted and now has just poked it tiny head from the ground. I try to thrive every day with my makings and people who inspire me every day like you! You really are an inspiration to me! Be well ❤

I am obsessed with shrugs. I made my first one last fall and have been in the process of putting together my palette of yarns for my second so the timing of this KAL is perfect. I love that they are called shrugs because they feel like a big hug. I have found myself appreciating growing older as it brings more self-confidence, awareness, and recognition. I am more fully immersed in my relationships with my daughters as they are becoming adults and require less of my time for running around for their activities but instead talking and one-on-one time. I have also been able to appreciate and engage with those who fell away due to time constraints from hectic schedules. Connection and engagement are so important and I have been thriving more and more with each birthday since I turned 50. I plan to listen, laugh, smile, dance, talk, and hug my way the rest of my journey! And, of course, knit!

I thrive by doing fiber arts after working as a nurse Monday through Friday. There is never enough time to do all the things I want to do with fiber and my friends. Looking forward to retiremeny from health care in the next 3 to 5 years, hoping then I will find enough time!

In the next chapter of my life, finding peace as an empty nester. It is such a hard transition, being the center of your little love's life and then in a blink it changes. Missing all those little moments, that we forget to cherish in the busyness of life. So, finding the small moments and holding on dear to them is thriving to me in this next phase as a mama.

I am thriving by returning to the hobbies that delighted me as a child. In this age of social media, there is a constant tug on my attention. To resist that I am trying to nurture my inner child. I’m staying up late reading. Building legos. Watching movies on a work night (tonight was Father of the Bride)… I love the idea of resisting dopamine hits by turning to the steady delight of listening to our own intuitions.

At the beginning of your podcast you spoke of the turn in weather in August. I am reminded of the book by Jean Craighead George Dear Rebecca, Winter is Here. It is a children’s book about how summer starts to begin during the Winter Solstice and vice versa. I great idea, I think.

I feel that in order to thrive, we need to have balance in our lives. I need to spend time with friends/family/people who are important to me and that I can connect with and learn from. I need to give back in society and have a purpose through my employment, which also brings me great connection to people and also allows me to use my mind. I also need the quiet, the still time. Expending some physical energy is another key. All of these things together allow me to thrive.

Thriving by choosing each moment to live in my truth, w/integrity, honesty, love, understanding, forgiving. Not always successful but w/each choice I have a chance to choose good not for the most belongings/money but for a better world, space. We are all part of the pie and w/o one of us the tapestry, solutions, options, would be fewer, dull, lacking richness. Honoring your best and the best of others...whatever that is.

Everyone’s impression of Thriving will be different, based on one’s life, loves and outlooks. But I thrive planning the NEXT project usually before the one I’m knitting is finished. I Thrive living in nature and smelling fresh air, I Thrive when others around me are happy and healthy. I would Thrive knitting with non superwash yarn in an endless color palette! Ahhhhhh, ClaudiaSJI
