The Nissan Ariya is the most ambitious Nissan vehicle in years, and the Ariya shows that Nissan can be serious about competing in the EV space among the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Tesla Model Y. The Ariya has an amazing interior, excellent technology including Pro Pilot Assist semi autonomous driving, and comfortable road manners. The Nissan Ariya isn't perfect, though. It needs to recharge faster and have a more intuitive one pedal driving solution, but the Ariya shows that when Nissan leverages its considerable resources, it can build a world class vehicle. Keep an eye on the Nissan Ariya as it gets refreshed over the course of its life cycle. It won't take much for the Ariya to become a major player in the EV space. For people looking for something other than the Ioniq 5 or EV6, the Ariya is a compelling alternative. Great job, Nissan! The Ariya is awesome!

I agree with you on the Ioniq styling. But I also agree with Megan about the spaceship issue with most EVs. I just switched from the GV60 to the eGV70 mainly because of that. Hope you get to test one soon!

Yeah, but she's fickle, too. I would break it down like this: she doesn't seem to like when a car is "trying too hard." The GV60 was about as far as she could go and till like it, but she likes the EV6 the best of the trio. Weirdly, she likes the functional and quality interior of the Ioniq best, though, because it all just makes sense. I think with a few more features per dollar and better charge speed, the Ariya would have taken the top spot for her. The Ariya freaking rules, but it's just a few characteristics short compared to the Koreans.

it charges at 130 kw but holds it deep into the pack which makes it finish around 35 to 40 min in 10 to 80 %. That matches most EVs out there. Also because it charges like that it has a low heat loss during charging It has cooled seats

It does not match most EVs at that pace. Not the ones it wants to compete with. I charged it on 150 and 350 chargers. Both times it topped at 80kw and took twice as long as the Ioniq 5 I had just had. And even if cooled seats are offered, they should be equipped for $59.5k when the Ioniq had them at $59k and was awd and twice as fast. Don’t get me wrong: we both liked the Ariya (I really liked it), but the competition is stiff in this segment.

@@ryansherman4556 It’s not that I don’t believe you; I’m telling you what my ACTUAL experience was living with the car for a week and hundreds of miles and multiple public charge stations. Specs are great, but my experience with the car was different.

I believe your battery was too cold or hot. Mine (87 kWh) did 20-80% in 28 minutes the other day.

@@kajko6868 I wasn’t far off that, but the Ioniq did closer to 10% to 80% in about 14 min and got to 90% in 30. Big difference when you’re out and about. Not a deal breaker, though, just something people should be aware of.

The peak charge rate has a very limited impact on the charge speed. In case of Ariya, it's the combination of a super flat charging curve, very little charging losses and high temperature resilience that makes it comparable, and in a lot of situations actually faster charging than an Ioniq 5 or a Model Y. On a long range drive, Ariya will very likely arrive earlier than both of them, with fewer charging stops and less energy spent.

While this sounds plausible in practice, the reality of living with these vehicles for a week or more ends up demonstrating that the Ariya charges slower in most situations and the Koreans charge faster in most situations. The Ariya is most equivalent to the Mach-E or F-150 Lightning in that respect, but it’s slower than the Ioniq 5 and EV6 (as well as Model Y). While I’d certainly be open to testing it in practice, I don’t see any way the Ariya would beat an Ioniq or Model Y on a long journey. The gulf between charge speeds would increase over time not decrease, even accounting for more efficient energy usage (which the Model Y in particular is pretty efficient).

The Ariyas way of charging is much better for the battery, I rather have awd Ariya than a ionic 5. The awd is so much better than the fwd to drive.

@@trumpetscall8910 Not trying to be cynical, but I think that’s an “excuse” for the slower charging speed more than it actually will matter in the long run. And the Ioniq5 also comes in AWD. Watch our previous Ioniq5 video to see a loaded AWD model that cost less than the FWD Ariya in this video. 😬

@jax1079 We will see in 4-5 years, but anyway i dont trust Korean cars. I didn't like the fwd Ariya, but the awd was my favorite of all ev I tried. It got the lovely adaptive matrix lights and a 22kw onbord charger, but each to he's own.

Hello, can you share the picture how exactly you fit in front sit? I'm 192 cm tall (you are 198+-) and I can't fit, I hit roof by my head :( (sit is in the lowest position). I wonder how do you do that?

Wasn’t a problem. And the test car had the pano sunroof. Had the seat all the way down and maybe slightly reclined, and I fit totally fine. Check on my stories to see if I have one where I’m sitting in the car.

The ionic 5 is like a crazy kid with alot of gadgets, piming up a golf. Seems so ugly to me.
