Davante Adams doesn't have elite speed but, His route running is so tactical and thought out that he doesn't need speed to get open. JSN is similar in that fashion. He is such a smart player with his route running that he knows EXACTLY when and where he needs to be.

Jerry Rice apparently ran a 4.58 way back in the day. Great route running and knowing how to get open makes up for a LOT of missing speed. We've seen a metric ton of fast receivers fail over the years. Great route runners always seem to do well.

Deion Sanders said the reason why Jerry Rice is the GOAT is because that same 4.6 he ran in the 1st quarter was the same 4.6 he ran in the fourth quarter. You gotta defend him ALL game. That stuck with me. JSN will be tremendous in the league.

Route running > speed 90% of the time If your routes are good enough, the lack of speed isn’t important because you’re consistently getting open anyways.

Yup. My defensive coach used to always say that it doesn’t matter if you’re fast if you run the wrong direction first. 4.5 in the right direction is better than a 4.3 with a misstep in the wrong direction.

I'm very excited to see what this kid can do in Seattle. When you look that that receiving core, they got guys with roles there in terms of body type. But not in terms of their value. I think if I'm that kid, he hangs out with Tyler Lockett specifically because that is the perfect dude to mentor him and continue developing that soft pocket feel. That QB safety valve role. Because when you look at what Lockett has done at the NFL level with Geno Smith and Russell Wilson, the dude pops off the tape in terms of finding the spot that helps his QB the most, not necessarily just what helps make the play look like it does in the playbook. Everything is an soft option. Lockett wins on not part 1, but sometimes part 3 of his routes. That patience and understanding, if this kid gets it, that teams passing offense could be something special.

when a WR has high football iq, stamina, and impeccable route running you get someone like Davante Adams, Cooper cupp, hopkins etc. Speed is a merely a bonus for WRs imo, bc these dudes can take the top off a defense anytime.

He has elite route running, quickness, and stamina. Look at his 20 yard short shuttle and 3-cone drill. - 20 yard short shuttle was 3.93 seconds (agility drill). Average NFL starting WR is 4.25 seconds. Barry Sanders had under 4 seconds. - 3 cone drill was 6.57 seconds (quickness & stamina drill). Under 7 seconds is very good. 6.57 seconds is pushing Jerry Rice marathon runner stamina.

The most important thing for wide receivers in the NFL is route running. A lot of guys are fast, but everyone is fast in the NFL. Kevin White had elite speed out of WV when he was selected 7th overall in the 2015 draft by Chicago Bears. That speed never translated to success in the NFL. Amari Cooper was a better route runner.

For everyone being discouraged about JSN in the dynasty community, I encourage you not to be. Look at the following receievers 40 times: Kupp (4.62), Dhop (4.57), CeeDee (4.5). You don’t need a 4.3, 4.4 blazing speed to dominate. JSN will win with his agility and quickness, he doesn’t drop anything and he understands how to beat a defense with his IQ and footwork. You don’t simply put up 1600 yards and 350 yards in a single game without being talented. This guy is the real deal. And I’m excited to add him to my roster.

Not to mention... Even though he was a fifth round pick we have a center of the future and a guard if the future. Our offense will be legit this season! Ironically San Francisco's weakness is their secondary. With lockett and smith njigba we will be able quick throw them to death. 5,6,7 yards a pop then bam K9 for explosive runs here and there. Getting San Francisco in playing from behind mode will be our best shot even if purdy is the quarterback. Even though we are missing a proven NT on our defensive line we have upgraded at every position on the front 7. Drafting Derick Hall was a great move because even though he's considered a defensive end, he's really played "edge" in a 3-4. Taylor has always played hand down so that alone is an upgrade that will tremendously help our run defense. Devin Bush is a considerable upgrade to Cody Barton ant ILB. Jarren reed and dremont Jones playing our 3 and 5 tech they have experience in 3-4 schemes. We are going to better then people think all the way around. Not to mention Devin bush came from a 3-4 scheme where as Barton predominantly played in a 4-3

I know Steve knows this I’m not talking about him. But when are we gonna learn that speed is the most overvalued part of drafting wrs. Look at all the elite guys rn. Almost none of them ran faster than a 4.4 jj, adams, kupp, lamb. All of them get out of their breaks quickly and run good routes and have a good catch radius. That’s what you need in a wr. Not straight line speed and athleticism

Thats because its easier to scheme against as a defense. Its a lot harder to defend guys that find space even when defense is lined up correctly

Come on now Mr. Young you called the success of Cooper Kupp at the combine that year. And he aint the fastest WR in the league. And you knocking this young man on speed. You basically was describing a Kupp with his route running and catching. This young man will be a dog in the right system.
