It's funnier if you watched Phantoms before Jay & Silent Bob. Because Phantoms is a low-key Dean Koontz movie you rent one weekend, then rent a few more times again, but you never buy it, (because why?) and you think you're the only mfer who knows about Phantoms. I would imagine it's easy for folks to go "geez I was just looking at them, what fragile egos" etc. I would imagine it's a lot harder to attempt to keep yourself in an often emotionally vulnerable state for hours on end, just waiting for all tech setup, and walk onto a set and have EVERYBODY looking at you, like, compulsively. Every extra, every grip - every time someone says "cut", their eyes swivelling toward you. Most folks have never worked in an environment where that happens. Ask yourself how you would feel if, say, half the people in your office spent all of their downtime just staring at you - compulsively, yet kinda mindlessly watching you. Imagine how deliberately ignorant of it you would have to become just to be able to function. And then imagine how being deliberately ignorant of the actions and attention of other people is... maybe not setting you up to be the best actor you could be?

Jay and Silent Bob are characters in a lot of Kevin Smith's Films, Clerks, Dogma, where angels named Loki (Matt Damon) and Bartleby (Ben Affleck) are trying to get back into heaven. In this film, Jay and Silent Bob Strike, The pair learn that there's a movie being made about them based on what they did called Bluntman and Chronic, so they go to Hollywood to stop it. This scene has a bunch of injokes about Matt Damon and Ben Affleck having acted in Dogma and now doing this movie for Kevin Smith as a favour, but it also parodies how bad some hollywood sequels to movies which never needed a sequel and are completely self contained plots can be, by having the Bar Scene from Good Will Hunting go from it seeming like it might be a good movie about how being brilliant and well read isn't enough to stay on top if you don't put the hard work in, by having the Clark, the student from the first film who tried showing off his intellect by parroting his textbooks to girls and was shown to be just quoting the textbook as his own thoughts by Will (Damon) now having put more effort into his studies and showing intellectual chops that Will can't refute easily, but ruins the dialogue with forced references to the first film, first by making fun of the title of the first film, deliberately breaking the fourth wall, then regurgitating the "How do you like them apples" will shut him down with in the first film. This results in Will and Chuckie (Affleck) huddle to figure out how to show him up. The film then completely subverts it by having the characters pull a gun from nowhere, and blow Clark away, right into the wall, with seemingly no stunt equipment having been set up on the movie set, implying that they actually killed him IRL.
