Two nice, subtle jokes in this scene. - Jason Biggs calling Jay "Ray" is an inside joke to the live-action Clerks TV series ABC wanted to make after the success of the original film (different from TAS), where execs threatened to replace Jay with a character named Ray because they didn't want Jason Mewes on the project. - Again with Biggs, it makes sense that he doesn't know there's a script.
