Jay Leno & Donald Osborne Meet “The Mule” - A 1000 hp Twin Turbo ’69 Camaro

Built by Mark Stielow, the father of Pro Touring and Director of GM Motorsport Competition Engineering, "The Mule" is arguably one of the most well-put-together, streetable track weapons ever created. It's one of a dozen '69 Camaros that Stielow has built over the past couple of decades, and probably the most insane iteration to date. Recommissioned by his friend Charlie, the originally naturally-aspirated machine became a twin turbo, 1000 horsepower monster - or "sledgehammer" in Charlie's words - all while retaining the majority of it's handling capabilities. Good evening Gentlemen . What a priviledge to meet both car and creator . Mark was so humble about his part in this car. And it so impressed both you Donald , and Jay. Jay would love to have this in his colllection ! Your comment about the Saab made me chuckle Donald . I drove one back in the day and it really was a riot but far more controllable than the first generation Subaru .l was actually impressed with the first generation Mitsubishi . I had a Mitsubishi 1500 Colt Turbo. It's delivery was well controlled and my good lady was always keen to let it loose ! I was particularly impressed with the build quality of the Camaro . The camera shots of the front fender / bumper showed how meticulous the attention to detail was . Thankyou Donald . And thankyou Mr. Stielow . Oh, and of course we can't forget to mention that septuagenarian "boy racer " Mr. Jay Leno ! He really was analysing that car very carefully and you could tell he was genuinely very impressed . Thankyou all .

I had the pleasure to speak with Jay Lamm, the "Chief Perp" of the 24 Hours of LeMons and I asked him about the big names in the automotive world, and he told me just what a pleasure and true gentlemen both Jay and Donald are. Down by 2nd beach main lot in middletown is where we use to drag race back in the early 2000s. we had the 1/4 mile marked on the street to the first light pole and would wait for MPD shit change... I actually liked hand Starting the race more than racing.

Absolutely. Stielow made "The Mule" shortly after he made "Tri-Tip" (also a '69 Camaro), which was THE first Pro Touring car.

Can’t use 1000 HP. Add drivability compromises, one wonders why. This car with 400 hp, 6 speed, comfy seats with medium suspension would be a better car.

I noticed some like that as well. It looked like he had a small head. Might have been the jacket. Compared to Jay's chin, everyone's head is small. 😅😅 Donald looked fine in the interview.
