He bought (a very expensive) a car purely because he thought it was the perfect car for him and his wife at this stage of life and he wanted to experience/enjoy it. Rolls Royce was also a beginning of his interest in cars and he feels deeply connected to the brand. If anyone deserves one of these cars, it's Jay. Years ago, I was waiting for a friend who was shopping on Colorado in Pasadena. I didn't really feel like traipsing along, so I said we'd meet later and I walked down the street and into Rusnak to have a look at the first new Phantom of the BMW era. Now, like most people in the world, I couldn't begin to afford one, but I was treated like a valued customer, given a complete tour of the Phantom they had in the showroom and we had a great talk about cars in general and Rolls-Royce in particular. That's customer service. You never know who you have in your business and how their fortunes might change. Fast forward to the Napa launch of the Spectre. I'm walking into Railroad Square in Santa Rosa, past the Hyatt Regency where two huge transporters are disgorging Cullinans, Ghosts and Phantoms. On my way back home, I strike up a conversation with a gentleman who's overseeing his charges in the parking lot. The RR employees and crew were staying in the hotel and the cars were for potential customer drives. More great conversation and a tour of a Cullinan. They hire some great people at Goodwood.

I had a similar experience at a Car Show when a Sales/Co Rep talked with me about the BMW 850 and again at a Boat Show (with plenty of high end Craft) when a one boat maker company rep. told me about a guy who marched in in jeans and a T-shirt, got a tour, looked it over for a little longer,asked "How much?" and wrote a check immediately. They called the Bank. The Bank said "Whatever the amount he writes, we'll cash it.". There you have it. You can't be arrogant, you can't be window shopping, you can't demand their time but there are people who exude more than a passing interest and all the stories of "and I sold them one" make good sales reps cautious about being dismissive of the respectful and genuinely interested/informed person.

I drive semi trucks for a living and I enjoyed listening to this 6 weeks ago, but this is the first time seeing the video....OMG, Wow, what a handsome car. I also favor two door coupes. Mine is a more humble blue 435i coupe, but I love it for it's sporty yet handsome looks. What an awesome addition to Jay's tasteful collection and the RR representative had the right mixture of being attentive towards his clients, yet a little bit onery, a true car guy...🙂

Gorgeous automobile. Thank you so much for sharing it with us Jay! I think the most telling part about the vehicle is how happy Jay is with it. If a guy with this many vehicles can still get excited about a new car, it tells you everything you need to know about the man and the car. Love it!

There’s never been a more deserving person to own a Rolls Royce! This man has more than earned everything he has from all of his hard work! And on top of that he happens to be one of the kindest most down to earth genuine people you could ever want to meet! He really does do so much for the automotive community and I’ve never heard a negative thing said about the guy! Congrats on your beautiful RR Jay and I hope you continue to enjoy it for a very long time! 👍🏽

I liked his commentary on the pinstriped guy drinking scotch. I usually have pretty steady hands. But often when I go to solder something, it’s either under stressful or rushed conditions, or it’s just after a long day of work. As a sound engineer, I’m often pushed hard with little notice to get something done before a deadline that cannot be changed. To ask some big time rock star to wait is the same as asking to be fired. Somehow, while under the gun, is when I do my best work as a live sound guy. But after hours, when I’m casually taking the time to solder a mic or mic cable or some circuit board component in place, my hands might not be quite steady enough to do it right. So, a couple of pulls on the Jameson, a bit of the THC therapy, and I’m right as rain, and leave a nice clean solder connection which I’ll most likely never need to touch again. So that’s why the pin stripper takes a swig, I’m sure. You can’t have a shaky hand while drawing a perfect and narrow strip down the flank of a 20’ long car that costs $100,000-$1,000,000. A mild sedative does the trick.

When we was to do our final exams as welders my mate was in a difficult situation. He had built a nice house like a cabin with big wooden logs and such, but got divorced. So he desperately needed the job as a welder, or he would not just loose his wife, but the house too. And all was depending on this final weld in the welding booth. With all that in his mind he was rightfully nervous. So, he got himself something helping him chill. Made the exam, got the job and could keep his beloved house. But to use drugs, legal or illegal, or alcohol to much for any reason is just not good. My missus is a high performance person and always get a lot of responsibilities at work. But the last few years she "needed" a drink or two (or a bottle or two) to calm down after work. Eventually the "ran into the wall", because the workload was just too much. Now she is on a long sick leave. We can have a glass once in a while but besides that she is sober. As with everything, it is a balance. "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." 1 Corinthians 6:12 Expedient adjective 1: suitable for achieving a particular end in a given circumstance 2: characterized by concern with what is opportune especially : governed by self-interest noun : something done or used to achieve a particular end usually quickly or temporarily : an expedient action or solution Me myself, I don't work as a welder no more. I manufacture $10,000 high end audio cables, as an ordinary job. Luckily I got steady hands... ;)

Jay, so enjoyed your review. As a little kid, while other kids my age were wanting the latest GTO, Camaro, or Mustang, I wanted a Rolls Royce. I did have my dream for a little while. I managed to get a 1957 Silver Cloud. Sadly, the person I got it from was not able to provide a valid title and I had to hire a lawyer to get my money back. Anyway, I did have a Rolls Royce in my garage for a few months. In my High School speech class I got an "A" for a speech about Rolls Royce history. I still remember the intro some 55 years ago. "There are cars, there are good cars and then there is Rolls Royce. The quality will be remembered, long after the price is forgotten. Other cars come and go. A Rolls Royce is forever." Warmest good wishes to you and your lovely wife Mavis. Thanks for being my car guy.

Jay told the story of how he left $35,000 cash in a bag on a piano at a comedy club in NYC. Drove back to the club and the bag was still sitting on the piano😅 I’m sure that he was sweating bullets all the way back to the club😅😅. Jay’s stories are the best!! Best show on cars!!

Congratulations on the newest addition to your vast automotive collection. I love what you said about your desire to one day own a Rolls-Royce, while the other young guys did not. A favourite quote that I recall from a motivational course years ago "If it's to be, it's up to me" is so very true. I never set a lofty goal for my life, but I guess I have achieved most of what I wanted. Rolls-Royce automobiles epitomize a person's success, and you have certainly been successful. Enjoy your Spectre, it is well-deserved! A Jay Leno fan from Canada.

I can still look at these cars though and appreciate how beautiful they are and I'm thankful that Jay Leno is sharing his collection with viewers like me, and I appreciate that people from Rolls-Royce came to explain finer details that I'll never be able to appreciate firsthand.

Oversteer is when the BACK of your car hits the wall.”

I love how Jay and I are on the same page with this car. To me Rolls Royce going electric just makes sense and I knew it was inevitable because think about it, what have they been doing all these years? Trying to make the outside and the engine as quiet as possible, trying to make the vehicle change gears as seamlessly as possible. With electric you can easily ignore all of that and just focus on road noise, which they're already the best in the game at.
@bwofficial17767 ай бұрын
It's not like range is a concern for how most Rolls-Royces are used. This is a car for driving from the manor house to the private jet or from the private jet to the penthouse apartment. Anyone who can afford one of these has other cars as well.
