When Dario nailed the throttle at 37:30, my first thought was OMG, that thing pulls like the race-prepped Shelby Cobra I drove in 1968. The previous owner campaigned the car for a couple of years and wore out the Ford engine. Building Ford race engines was and is very expensive, so the guy had a Chevy L88 engine with a much hotter cam fitted. Don Larson, the evil genius fabricator of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, made an oil pan with drag link tunnel, and a set of his signature exhaust headers. If you didn’t know better, you would swear the Chevy engine package was a factory installation. I’m still smiling over the memory 56 years later. One of the ULTIMATE cars of all time! Gordon Murray is without a doubt a maestro of magic when it comes to designing automobiles. It's the perfect blend of form and function. Gordon thinks like the automotive masters of yesteryear who also thought of an automobile in the sense of form vs.function. Names like Coachbuilders Jacques Saoutchik, Cesare Isotta and Vincenzo Fraschini, Carrozzeria Touring, and car designers Enzo Ferrari, Ferruccio Lamborghini, Ettore Bugatti, Ferdinand Porsche, and the many others of the Golden Age of Automobiles. Gordon Murray has no doubt left his mark in the world and will be remembered and honored many years into the future. No doubt his automobiles will grace the halls of the most distinguished automobile museums of both today and tomorrow as people will want to look at these incredible machines which are the pinnacle of automobiles. Gordon shares the legacy today with designers like Christian von Koenigsegg , Horatio Pagani, and many others who are bringing back the coachbuilder style of designing the very BEST OF THE BEST automobiles on the planet. Their passion shows through their incredible automobiles. I like the fact Gordon kept the legendary three seat position that reminds me of the Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale in the 60's with that same unique three seat with the driver in the center design that Gordon had in his original F1. No doubt he probably took inspiration from that Ferrari 365P Berlinetta Speciale that had the same design. It's incredible that Gordon came up with that incredible fan design in the back which helps to make the vehicle perform like a car with a wing for superior downforce during spirited driving. That rear fan design is a very unique looking design that actually has a purpose on the vehicle. Absolutely stunning automobile and if I were a multi-millionaire, this car would be at the top of my "wish list"!

Probably the last naturally aspirated V-12 supercar - and the greatest. Some of the specs on this: the engine weighs 400 pounds, and is the lightest V-12 ever; the whole car only weighs 2200; yet it's not about specs. It's about driving. Gordon Murray knew that the T.50 was the last hurrah for this type of car; the future belongs to hybridized turbo V-6s or even pure electrics. But he wanted to go out with one big V-12 yowl, and he did.

Apart from the T33. And it depends on your point of view, but even the new Bugatti has a 1000ps NA V16, also from Cosworth. It just also has a few electric motors as well.

WOW! When Uncle Jay says, "Don't worry, next week will be something different." HE'S NOT KIDDING!!! I'm not even a sports car guy, but if I hit the Lottery......... Hello is this THEEEEE Gordon Murry? lol Also I love this guy, Dario Franchitti. (Not in a gay way) My Dad always talked with his hands, and I trust people MORE who do. Like people say that an Italian thing. No it's a passion thing, and if you have no passion, you have no life! Jay you're the greatest!! That smile when Dario open her up... Priceless!!! God Bless you Jay!

Bugatti as much as I like them, were the ones who ruined what a sports car should stand for with the Veyron. It started that whole HP and weight madness - the Veyron was a compromised design, but everyone wanted to beat that. It started the Fat acceptance movement in cars. The Hypercar Trio (LaFerrari, P1, 918) were the best of the hybrids, but after that all the supercars boasting hybrid are close to 2 ton monsters (Lambo?) and the T50 without any fancy nonsense has a power to weight ratio better than all of them. Only Chirons and Eggs do better than this on that metric. Then the 2 ton + electric cars came out that were ballistic in a straight line and crippled everywhere else including the overall emissions and having smart tech with zero common sense like putting everything in a touchscreen and convincing us that a car is actually a tablet on 4 wheels. In all this we've forgotten the essence of a car - to drive. That's what a car was supposed to do. And this one does that in style!

As a road car, the T50 stands alone at the pinnacle of what exists. Gordon didn't compromise, so everyone who drives it doesn't have to.

Crazy thing about the Countach is it looks "eighties" but production started in 1974 and the prototype was at the 1971 Geneva Auto Show. That means, designs probably started in the very late 1960s.

The LATER Countach with wings and flares looks '80's. The original LP400 (FAR more beautiful) looks very '60's/'70's AND has aged FAR better.
