Jay Slater’s mum says ‘our hearts are broken’ after son’s body found with ‘multiple injuries’

THE body found in a mountainous area of Tenerife is Jay Slater's, authorities have confirmed.
A court on the island today said they have ID'd the body by fingerprints and that Jay, 19, had suffered multiple injuries.

What I wanna know is more about these two older guys? What makes a young man feel like he needs to leave a house into unfamiliar territory with no way of getting back did he get paranoid or were these guys up to no good and Jay clicked onto their intentions? I'm just saying coz the build up to him leaving and the question why he left when he's so far away from his hotel and friends. And why did he not ask one of the guys to get him a cab or ask for a charger for half an hour before he left? He was a young, fit guy in the prime of his life and in full holiday mode in the gorgeous sunshine. I remember being that age and I remember being that age on holiday abroad ... you think nothing is impossible and think you're invincible and that nothing bad will ever happen to you; you feel invulnerable and untouchable. Then factor in the booze and drugs, which lower your inhibitions and cloud your judgement. Basically, it's a recipe for disaster, especially if lost and on your own, and naivety and inexperience come into play. What happened to young Jay, whether accidental or something more sinister, is tragic. I personally think, judging from what I've read thus far, that it was a tragic accident; I think young Jay has, in his inexperience and naivety, underestimated the terrain and heat, and then panicked a bit and slipped and fell down that steep ravine. The drink and drugs will not have helped him (clouded his judgement). Just a tragedy. Life is fragile, uncertain and unfair ... you just never know when your time is up. Thoughts are with his family.

I personally just think that their intellect and their expertise and extensive knowledge on the subject allows them to arrive at the right and most accurate conclusion. Also, and just as importantly, they are experienced in dealing with corpses and cadavers (obviously some are more experienced than others and are better at their jobs than others). Don't forget, pathologists and forensic scientists also use state-of-the-art technology and equipment which enables them to obtain more accurate results and conclusions.

It's actually quite common for police to keep information from the public especially in a case like this that couldve had the possibility of foul play involved. And because of all the people theorising and the spread of misinformation over the last few weeks. However I'm not sure how well informed the family was maybe because of the language barrier/differences. Who knows. This is just tragic all round. Qnd there's always something to be learned from these kind of situations. My heart goes out for his mom, dad and brother.

What gets me is how many people have been judge & jury on this boy. And those professing to know if he was drunk or drugged up must have a crystal ball as no coroners report has been released yet. I personally don't think anything sinister has occurred, but we'll find out in due course after an official investigation. The poor lad's body was found, according to officials, in a state of serious decomposition and he'd sustained several broken bones consistent with a fall into a steep ravine.
