Jay Smith was challenged by Adnan Rashid on Oct 25th to a debate, but he couldn't as he was already doing a video for upload that day. He could, however, do the debate November the 1st, and he texted during the week that it should be on understanding the Qur'anic folios which were discovered in Birmingham this last summer, and made famous by BBC.
This debate, then, is the result of that text. You will see that it soon moves away from the folios and on to the oldest Qur'anic Mushafs (manuscripts), and the discrepancies which we find between them.
As usual, whenever Jay and Adnan confront each other, it is boisterous and exciting to watch...the two of them pitching ideas and references back and forth at each other.
You will notice that Adnan finally runs away. Take note of why he leaves; to be replaced by Hatun Tash, who then helps Jay reconstruct the material referred to in the debate and walk through it together.
It is this material on the problems with the earliest manuscripts which will eventually destroy the authenticity of the Qur'an, and one of the reasons Muslims (except for Adnan and Mansur) will no longer debate it publicly.
