First time I have ever seen Jay in a suit. Damn handsome for an old fart. On another note. I hope someone out there will find this as funny as I do. Back in the late 70s, I built a souped-up Chevy Vega. It also had an oil slick mechanism, a mechanism that dropped tire punctures in the road. It had a license plate flipper. I added some other features that weren't quite James bond. Exhaust cutout. A hood scoop that folded down with a window motor. ( my favorite part). Nitrous Oxide injection. And many other performance enhancements. I put way too much money into that Vega. But, damn it was fun. Oh, and by the way. If anyone is wanting to do the oil slick thing. Diesel fuel works much better. Especially on the tarmac. (blacktop)

Why did it need that bullet proof shield? It was bullet proof all over! The latest DB5 in "No time to die" has different weapons. No spikes, but spiked little bombs. Big mini-guns behind the headlights, no single barrel machine guns behind the front indicators.

It certainly is, and possibly they might. However the real crux of it is that it cannot be registered for the roads: it doesn't come close to passing today's regulatory requirements. They've correctly judged that a Bond edition purely as a collector's item would sell, whereas a straight up can't drive it new build may not. However, there is a up side. Having put the design back into production albeit on a limited basis, spares for original DB5s can now be had (gear boxes, etc). So may be there's old DB5s that weren't drivable for want of spares that can now go back on the road, legally. That's a good outcome, I think.

@@lifelover2301 That would be an interesting way to do it. Could work in the UK as long as it still passes a VOSA test (MoT plus plus), which it probably does. (I think the acronym is VOSA, corrections welcome! ). It won't work in France - kit cars aren't legal over there. Or at least there is no easy route for someone to assemble one in France and register it for the road in France; you have to build 3 for crash testing for a start, even if someone else has already done that. Would work in the USA? I know that that's how the Arial Atom gets on the road's there.

My old British car also had a smokescreen option. Once the supercharger-caused crankcase blow-by filled up the catch can, it would get gulped into the SU carb and leave a cloud of smoke at stoplights. It was worth it to get to 60 in under 8 seconds using 1950s tech.

Nice to have the toys installed and "operational" However I can't help but think there was a trick missed with the injection seat. A function that drops the passenger seat suddenly by 5" would surely scare the living daylights (please excuse the unintentional pun) out of the passenger, as the sensation of dropping suddenly would be a close facsimile to a rocket upwards, without losing the passenger & seat.

Nice to see this repro DB5 but for the money why not look for an original - do a resto etc - (perhaps even save money) rather than being taken for a complete mug with this toy version? Aston Martin your marketing team needs a major overhaul.
