I think Llama is definitely good enough to reach high Masters, in these games it seemed like he was too nervous/scared to do his own thing and instead opted to just do as he was told - probably didn't want to "upset" the higher level players by ignoring them. Like you could tell on those two visors that he REALLY didn't WANT to hit Q but the pressure of being instructed to do so forced his hand. Instead of making plays he was comfortable with, he most likely was trying to "do what GM players do". I bet if he had more experience playing in these types of lobbies/environments he could truly hold his own, but being thrown into the deep end results in one of two things - learning how to swim, or in this case, drowning.

I get the same way when I find out I'm in a comp game with a streamer or well known high ranked players. I'm trying to get back to Masters & GM as well myself but it's been difficult and sometimes I just end up thinking whether I'm the issue and actually just not a good player or if I'm just unlucky/or because of the hero I main, I can't fully tell what the reason is exactly. In my opinion You have to master these factors apart from having good aim to be in GM: Positioning (high ground, off angles, line of sight, distance) Ult economy Cool down management Quick decision making and reaction time Environmental awareness (e.g. a lot of people back up into obstructions) Enemy awareness ( position, dead/alive enemies, ults and cooldowns) Team mate awareness ( Know where you can be healed, track ultimates, try to communicate, time your attacks to your teammates offense when appropriate) Movement mechanics Adapting to the team's and enemy's team composition Probably missing some, but there is definitely more to overwatch than just aim.
@unjust9165 ай бұрын
Thoughts... Overwatch does a good job at rank stabilization in that if you belong in a rank you usually find your way there. HOWEVER, Overwatch also really punishes solo gameplay in that the team with a duo or the better duo usually wins. As someone who has been in GM multiple seasons, do I think he deserves GM? No. Do I think he belongs in Diamond? Also no. I see him getting mid to high masters which is still solid imo.

@Real_MisterSir5 ай бұрын
Perhaps understandably, but seems like he tunnels too hard on the comms, to the point where he kinda forgets to play his own plays. It's always tough to judge when a lot of the decisionmaking is being made for you, and you "just" have to apply your mechanics and roughly follow what's being called, but it also robs you of one of the most essential parts of being a GM, which is creativity. Finding value where ordinary plays just aren't sufficient. Like the Tracer duel, sure he keeps up, but the GM Tracer also doesn't have to force the issue. The enemy team has the point already so enemy Tracer just has to mark him and contest his flank, that's all. To be a GM you either have to take that duel because you have an advantage or you believe you can straight up out-mechanic the opponent and win -or you have to find value elsewhere otherwise all you're doing is being a paper weight while everyone else are having their 4v4 alone. When you don't have the objective, the burden to generate value is on you. You're losing until you make a play. I'd have liked to see some more cheeky angles during certain rotations, instead of just clumping up with everyone like it's the second coming of GOATS meta. Also clearly they aren't as used to the tempo and reach of enemy players, and often don't disengage from turning fights quickly, nor far enough to not get caught by a Lucio speeding their Queen and everyone else onto him. Especially on a hero like Soldier, you should rarely find yourself in a situation where you are the target being sped upon, but the experience with those timings and disengages just isn't quite there. All this said, they definitely did hold their own from a fundamental point of view, and weren't dead weight. But they also weren't really a difference maker outside of a couple fights, basically a case of "it could be worse". And ofc this is all taken from a short-period closed scrim environment which is not really indicative of normal ladder matches, so everything I'm saying should ofc be taken within that context only. Overall they did well, better than an avg Diamond dps for sure, but seems most of it is carried by mechanics.

Based on 1v1 and this game play, I think that some of his decision making is keeping him at diamond. The consistency of landing shots is what I would say is better than average, but not at the GM level. Plus I'm convinced there are actually less players that should be that high of rank, they are just using a bit of assistance. The odds of that many people having accuracy of top game play in video games, is unreal. Look at NBA, MJ, Bird, LeBron, all-star level, but everyone else is PRO, very few with these consistent abilities over time. Plus some of those twitch accounts that gone silent, after being exposed. In ANY GAME, IT DOESNT MATTER. Whatever they call “Diamond” at the top levels in Diamond are THE MOST mechanically gifted players. There is no Elo hell, people don’t understand rank and knowledge. To get out of bronze, silver, gold, and plat, you need to have carry potential. You don’t need anything special to get from these ranks just be able to carry a team by yourself and you will rise. Once you’re in Diamond you can no longer brute force your way out by carrying because people can save themselves with their mechanic ability. In order to get into masters of any game from Diamond is IQ. If you’re stuck in Diamond in a game, it’s because you don’t know shit past the base play, you need to watch pro league, study games and get a better iq for the game, doing things faster, different routes on the map etc. Grandmasters and above is just playing all the time.. no real difference unless a master/grand master/ or top 500/250 plays scrims and competes on third party sites.. that’s the route to being a pro but you need to be atleast masters before that.
@Nurhaal2 ай бұрын
There is something wonky. If you have multiple accounts of different ages, you'll see a massive difference. I can't explain why, but seriously if you have a 7 year old account and then play with a brand new one - the difference in win rates is extreme and makes it so damned convincing that ELO Hell exists because it's often much easier to make a new account and out rank your years old one. It's been done, and it's frustrating as well as very suspicious.

So Elo hell is real until you play enough games. Since blizzard doesn't release the numbers, the meat of the curve takes more games to normalize leavers, throwers, and cheats. Meaning in the couple of thousand games BEFORE the player averages out the "my team/other team" affects of those players. At the higher and much lower ends the need to likely play around 1k games, again before averages apply. So basically, once you hit at least 1K ranked games in a season you will be able to advance if you can.

I started as a teen scrimmaging and competing in CS league matches, and held mods of servers where we were familiar with the gameplay behind gamers who had cheating software (obv quite more advanced now). We didn’t have the luxury of auto detection so we had to scrutinize gameplay and replays heavily. I’m fully aware of sound cues and using sound, but it’s not conducive to staring and quick glances at a wall exactly in the direction of the enemy prior to every fight, and at that distance. Those aren’t natural peeking points. Point out where the audio cues allowed him to track over them through the wall in spawn, and let me know what audio settings you have so I can change mine. I think people are more trigger happy with commenting without any insight or offering any value…

@16:39 another example. Even with audio, no reason to walk up the stairs and quickly glance at the ceiling and the genji before looking at the doorway and then peeling to the high ground. He does this numerous times throughout the vid, quick flicks to the side pan out for a wide angle and see where everyone is before he starts the natural progression of peeking sightlines

also @17:37, when he’s panicking/hiding at low health. abnormal to stare at the wall while strafing to see where the kiri is bottom left and then pan right to track the sigma and tracer through wall before they push him.

I deserve diamond!!! Saying it now! Minimum diamond

He gets masters. He just needs playtime in higher lobbies because they play a lot different then diamond lobbies

He doesn’t have a lot of game knowledge. He misses reactions that are instinctual and is in a bad position at most times. His aim is really good though!

There is no elo hell. You're in the right elo. You don't just play in your elo, you must carry to get out of your elo.

Elo hell definatly exists. Everytime i win 2 games in a row it will be followed by 2 loses the match maker is absolute dog shit in this game.

6:30 but like he has a lot of stress from being in a streamers vid and also with higher ranked ppl. What if they did NOT visor and then something happened that his team didnt want? Can't follow instincts when the big bros are like "do this or we lose lul"
