When George Washington was founding America as a country. He found it as a republic! Unlike a democracy, a republic has staying power. All democracies end and socialism then it can turned into communism, or some type of monarch.

The 3 min mark.... "Why look down on China"?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? Try to slaughter of innocent people for one. MILLIONS of people. Or releasing dam water at night and wiping out entire villages, being more concerned with power generation than peoples livelihoods. Maybe this dude needs to move there and rethink "Why look down on China".

Democracy is a scam that does not work even on paper, and I'm sure you have experience witnessing it certainly does not work well in practice either. There is the political class and then there is those they rule over, and its incentives are pure dysfunction and corruption. Read Hans Herman Hoppe's book "Democracy: The God That Failed" if you wish to better understand where Jayant is coming from, because he's spoken about how much that book has influenced him. I'm sure you can find it in your native language as well given the author is German and it has many translations.

I'm a Chinese living in the USA. I'd like to add some explanation about the controversial points of Mr.Bhandari made in the interview. 1) Under the current circumstance in China, people can't discuss politics on the public media platform, such as Weibo, Tiktok. People can privately criticize government in a party or on the wechat. However, if you insist on talking politics publicly, your post will be deleted or your account will be locked. But You won't be put into the jail. The logic is pretty simple. There are 1.4 billion Chinese people. The government can't take the cost of arresting all the dissidents and putting them into the jail in the information era.. This is comparable to the reason that the government need to mandates the face mask though the COVID19 just looks like an enhanced influenza virus. Because the high infection rate will destroy the medical capacity if people don't protect themselves from the virus. 2) 15 years ago, the public speech in China was not as strict as right now. Most of the educated Chinese people admired western democracy and freedom and didn't like the communist party of China. However, after seeing the Color Revolution happening in different countries, Chinese government began to implement stricter controls on the media. Especially the war of Iraq war, Afghan and Libya made Chinese people realize that democracy won't bring prosperity and stability to the society. The USA and its allies have been using democracy as a weapon to control the undeveloped countries and maintain the global hegemony. 3) As Mr.Bhandari said, Chinese economy has been growing and people's livelihood has been greatly improved. Chinese people feel proud and highly support the communist party of China. Some china haters like to portray that Chinese people live like slaves. It's irony that many illegal immigrants in China are from democratic Africa countries and South Asia. 4) Why do Chinese people not talk about politics with foreign friends? There could be three reasons . 1) Politics has become an entertainment in western courtiers. However, in China, political activity is very serious and meaning risk. It's not only because of the one-party government. In the whole Chinese history, political conflict means wars and bloodshed. 2) Although western countries don't know much China, actually Chinese people know well wester countries which is one of the major factors contributing the fast growth of China. So Chinese people are fully aware of those stereotyped images other countries have on China before talking about politics. However, neither would Chinese people like to criticize their own government because China is becoming great, nor do they deny that democracy is a good thing. 3) More Chinese elites realize that democracy can't be given as a present or authorized or designed to the country. The successful democracy is the most precious fruit of a tree growing up from its own cultural lands. Actually in the 4000 years of Chinese history, there isn't a physiological word which could accurately correspond to the democracy. That's why the goal of communist party is to build the socialism with Chinese characteristics. Also, CPC claims not to export communism and encourage every country to explore its own road to prosperity. However, this cultural dilemma puzzled many Chinese elites that they don't know how to communicate because the two sides are not on the same page. 5) Everybody loves democracy and freedom. However, everything comes at a price. Woke culture is one of the result of failed democracy and excessive individualism. While Chinese people keep exploring the balance between democracy and collectivism, freedom and social responsibility, I think many third-world countries also have their own understandings on the topics.

The west has immigrated way, way too many in the third world, i think it may well be on the path of no return. The US, to keep its population happy, is on a massive hyper inflationary trend, there will come a point where the world will become sick of holding negative yielding USD, and that will be a huge turning point. Families in Asia, and even on an individual level, you have to be careful to spend only on what you need, save the rest for a rainy day, and live simply. The US is doing the exact opposite; spending way beyond its means, kicking the can down the road, you can only keep doing that for so long before the laws of arithmetic finally catch up onto you.

@SilverBullion 2 жыл бұрын
When I first heard Jayant speak years ago, frankly speaking it was a mirror. Some things I agreed with, some things not. And somethings made me angry. It was a mirror because I had to self reflect and in time what Jayant said, if I put emotion aside, much of it either was true or made sense. If an American, wants to say China is corrupt no one (maybe) will have a problem with that... BUT at the same time, so is the US. It pains me to say, but it's true. This is what I mean when I say a person like Jayant, bless him for speaking his mind. He will cause emotion in 100% of the people, and then its up to each person to find a way to put away emotion and critically think by first looking at themselves, and their own country. I love the USA and it breaks my heart to watch it deteriorate and it breaks my heart to do this job at times to have to acknowledge it's a country that will not come out of the tunnel the way it went in. However, the thing that mends my heart is trying to help the people understand what's happening is happening all over the world. Its not just the US. If we cannot fix our respective countries, then we have to fix ourselves and shore up ourselves, our families, our friends. I'm convinced we need each other more than our governments good or bad right now. And you'll only see that if you are able to put emotion aside. After that, humility, truthfulness are the first steps to get back on our feet to see a brighter day. What's coming is not good. But you, me, all of us, have to stick together in truth and we'll make it.

I normally like your guests and learn alot from them, but not this guy. His understanding of China is so shallow and gives a very misleading picture. He calls China a free capitalist economy, on the surface it might seem like it, but in reality, it is a centralized state controlled economy.. How can you call a country a free capitalist econony when the government can penalize married couples for not having any kids just bc it realized that its biggest threat has become aging population which was due to its many decades of brutal one child policy? If a country does not even give ppl the freedom to decide how many children you can have, how do you expect it to be a free society. Another example, the government recently single handedly destroyed the entire tutoring industry just on a whim, and it also destroyed the big ride hailing company Didi, which whiped out millions of US investors, and had Jack Ma gave up his shares in Alibaba to the state. The reason ppl don't talk about politics is that they get into trouble for it, noy nc they are not interested by it. If you cannot even elect your own government, talking about politics is like a death wish on oneslef. Do you know how many journalists and himan rights lawyers get jailed or disappear each year? Pls. tell your guest to take off his rose colored glasses, and don't speak aboutnthings he does not know.

Your lengthy comment doesn't hide the fact that you know close to NOTHING about China, and as a result you don't understand what Jayant said. One Child Policy is a stop gap when population exploding. It's has now been rectified. That's what a capable government does, unlike yours. Social policy like clamp down on excessive high price tutoring are precisely and uniquely China's democracy, because that's what billion of Chinese want, to have a more just and fair society. Until you learn more, don't comment here. It's very embarrassing reading your shallow and fundamentally WRONG comment.
