41:11 - that's because GW actually based these battlesuits on Gundam series, explicitly stating that mangas and anime were their primary source of inspiration for race as a whole. Their pilot is actually alive unlike for Dreadnoughts and Wraithlords. Kinda unrelated fun fact: the 6th edition of Tau Codex mentions the usage of Puretide Engram Neurochip, which is the chip that contains the memories and experiences of Commander Puretide (mentioned here in game by Commander unit). It's implanted into heads of every Fire Caste commander to enhance their skills in battlefield by accessing Puretide's wisdom and it's reference to Ghost in The Shell manga and anime.

As for the pathing issues, it increases when you want to simultaneously move: 1. Large amounts of units (4+ squads) 2. Combinations of infantry and tanks. To get the least amount of issues it is best to split your army into smaller control groups (eg. 2-3 melee infantry - ctrl+1, 2-3 ranged infantry - ctrl+2, melee vehicles - ctrl+3, tanks - ctrl+4 and so on) and try to move them in one at a time and separate vehicles from infantry (or at least keeping the tanks immobile with ranged stance at the back while the other units move in). Giant deathball of units in this game is actually fairly bad as you can see, as it is hard af to control since they get in each others way so much. Having smaller task force groups working separately from each other is usually better.

I remember first playing this one with Blood Ravens. Thought it was gonna easy cuz what would go wrong when I have a huge army? Turns out it was everything and the Orks smashed nearly my entire army except one tank, commander, two marine squads

Ah, the Hyperion Peaks... When I played Chaos, the Orks very nearly wiped me out, only my Sorcerer and Possessed Squads were left to tear up the entire map!
@tarhuwa34843 жыл бұрын
Hyperion Peaks is especially painful as Chaos, because you don't get relic units as other factions do (only Daemon Princes, which are weaker than Chaos' actual relic units) and very few anti-vehicle and anti-building units.

The Hyperion Peaks... I think it wouldn't be far-stretching to say that nearly everyone hates this mission with passion. I once survived it as Tau, having only Tau Commander (fully-upgraded) and some randomly-placed elite stealth teams, by sneaking around and abusing my hero's near sniper-grade range, and flying away whenever they send patrols with heroes (who are detectors). Somehow, this mission becomes much easier if Necrons manages to make it here and take this location (had it happening twice), due to being very slow to expand and easy to shut down their production.
@Idontknow-jd1wu2 жыл бұрын
necrons in this mission are broken because you get two fully restored monoliths that can build scarabs and warriors, but the problem is that if you miss a few structures, just be prepared to wait for your units to skedaddle their way to the other side of the map.

They would probably be cooking with plasma :P Also, those miniguns(called burst cannons) are related to pulse stuff (same principle, same ammo, less range, more dakka). This mission gives unique unit setup for every attacker and every defender faction. Can't remember who was the hardest to play this as/against (since you don't get some upgrades applied). Yes, them krootox (or parrot gorilla if you wish) are great, they are basically kauyon version of hammerheads, albeit equipped with a kroot autocannon equivalent instead of the fearsome railgun (which got quite a buff recently in 9ed codex from what I've heard). Regarding remaining strongholds, I'll just put it like this: expect massive hordes (orks), heavy armor (small and big kind) + bombing (marines and chaos) and a mix of both (IG and Necron, latter with a dash of cosmic horror thrown into mix) so plan accordingly. Orks and IG will get hilarious at few points. Tau one pits you against BOTH kauyon and mont'ka giant bases, plus 1 main base.

The listening posts are mostly there for you to get requisition for reinforcement and vision. As for this one capturing the relic early so that the enemy cannot build more capital units is a must.
@andreapareti324 Жыл бұрын
I know this is from a year ago, but I'm just gonna say it because I'm watching you play Soulstorm and I've noticed the same issue: if you set your movement to always attack, rather than just the standard movement, you would have less issues with micro-managing your troops, since they would just stop as soon as something is in range and shoot at it; this is especially true for Fire Warriors, since they can shoot so far ahead; granted, especially close combat units would still need you to direct them, after a bit, unless you set them in full offense mode (don't remember the English name, right now, but it's the red stance).
@Storm2war3 жыл бұрын
on the map objective like forward base, you have to attack it right away as the respective faction will constantly reinforce and rebuild

Selecting all units and attack moving into the territory usually works for me when it comes to pathing. Also flash gitz will tear your infantry to tatters

If only this game was remastered but with better pathing, maybe dawn of war 2 or starcraft level of pathing would be great.

The kroot Carnivore pack is pretty decent squad. You should use their special ability, that way they can become tankier and stronger over time. The more they consume the tougher they get

I feel like this particular mission type is very difficulty against Orks, particularly since every structure they build has a gun on it.

Regarding the Crisis Suit, it's actually nowhere near the size of a Dreadnought. It's usually Terminator sized and comes in a squad with buddies in the Tabletop Game. The Tau have some newer battlesuits since this game came out that can fill that role however, with the Riptide which is much bigger than a Dreadnought, and the Ghostkeel which is a slightly bigger than a Dreadnought Stealthsuit

Ta'unar Supremacy armor is their latest and largest battlesuit and their purpose is to kill Imperial Titans and Tyranids alike. Their only flaw is lack of agility, therefore they are used only as static defense.

yeah taking too much units at once is pain in hyperion peaks lol basically i have done it only with hammerheads and 2-3 earth caste you get to repair lol but mostly i use krootox, knarlocs and hammerheads 8 and honourguard firewarriors for long range support and use sky rail missile tank to snipe buildings) hammer heads and knarlocs can handle most of ork army by themself if you keep them soe what out range of waagh towers missiles wich hurt them a lot.. yeah only special power zectors and strong hold have their read lore thing

You claim this is a no-build mission, but it's actually not. You start with workers, and with the capability to build up an hq building. If you don't start with the resources to do so, you can get them relatively easily. I just know this because one of my favorite memories from dawn of war is me building up a base while also having access to a massive army that broke so many rules the game sets for you.

@@254708cs I'm playing through soulstorm and field the Knarloc exclusively to soak bullets so my battlesuits can stand there and shoot stuff uncontested. During strongholds I'll build another kroot shaping center near the front lines so I can rebuild the thing when it inevitably dies. It does have a bad habit of getting stuck stomping in place trying to turn a few degrees back and forth though.

Honestly the Knarloc is great for what the Tau needs especially on that path. You just build the Knarloc 10 fire cast warriors and you basically murder everything in SP.
