I started reading Coffeeland that I picked up at SFO as I was taking 13 hour flight to Istanbul. Didn’t realize how James Hill, Manchester Born coffee baron, created a coffee empire which led to El Salvador‘s 🇸🇻 reliance on volatile coffee prices. Had a friend living in historic Hills building on the Embarcadero where the system for judging coffee quality was devised. Austin Hill, heir to Hill fortune, is now running a vanity campaign for district attorney here in the City and County of San Francisco. Are you going to visit the volcano where coffee is harvested?

I'm from El Salvador and I have never heard about this man James Hill and his relationship with my country. I remember as a kid back in the late 70s my mother used to take us to the coffee plantations to harvest coffee, we couldn't help her as we were too small but we waited under a tree for her until she was done for the day. It was a very hard job, I remember one day in particular because we gave away most of the food she had brought for us, a man told us he was hungry and we didn't know any better so we offered him food and he took most of it. When my mom came back there was only a little food left and she gave it to us but she went hungry.

Jay Cee you don’t carry with you an international insurance to cover health issues? Even though $20.00 was very cheap, here in California my COVID test cost to my insurance $550 and if I don’t have the insurance it wii be like $175 to $250 cash or debit 😞

I'm not aware of what international insurance coverages actually cover. Some things, like COVID tests are getting cheaper these days that it may be cheaper paying it outright then actually paying for a third party insurance premium. So I'm not sure. It may not be worth it.
