This is my journey to Paris to get my hip surgery! I apologize for the video being a bit choppy, because of surgery I wasn't able to film as much as I wanted. I hope this gives you a little insight into what it was like! Enjoy :-)

It’s great that all of this could be addressed while you’re still so young. The disorder may not have been discovered as promptly if you hadn’t been a dancer actually. If you would have gotten into your 30’s even before having this hip replacement done, you would have had a much longer recovery process. It’s great to see you were in such excellent hands, and in such great spirits. You’ll be back at it in no time. The positivity helps a boatload. Wishing you all the best.

Way to go little dancer. I learned about you as a dancer and you are clearly dancing through such a big setback with grace and beauty. Your positivity is contagious and I’m sure many who have had medical setbacks are inspired. I have had spine issues and life setbacks and it’s great to see someone who is getting premium care and appropriate physical therapy. It looks like they are teaching you to restrengthen your feet as well which is great and will help when your hip has healed and you start learning to move comfortably and more fluid as you like to. It’s really happy to see your recovery. I remember seeing the video of your news and setback from dance and wondering how you would cope. You are doing great and are a role model for patients of various osteo type issues. It’s cool to see you walking and smiling. You rock!! Keep at the rehab even when it’s tiring or hurts a little. It does get better in time. Super cool that they could do a scan replica of your hip too. Smart of your family to get you the best treatment there is. You have so much spunk that you will be dancing again in no time. Take it slow and steady and congrats on a successful surgery and recovery. Xo from a Seattle fan.

Wow Jaycee I can't believe how strong you are to be smiling so much while going through surgery and recovery but I am so so happy for you that it went well!! A little fun fact now: I can translate what the nurses said at 2:29: the one in the back said "Is it normal that she's holding her crutches like this?" and the one helping you answered "They're American and this is the type of crutches they have here, funny right?" Because in France crutches are very different: they don't go all the way up the arm :-)

It's good to see you working hard and getting better. I can't say I've had a hip replacement, but I've had 2 ACL knee surgeries (one on each knee). I did recognize some of what you were doing in PT. Keep working hard you are loved and prayed for.

Good to see you doing well, Jaycee, and I'm glad you were able to get the surgery you needed; so happy for you. You're such an amazing dancer, and if you can make the best of your surgery and recovery, I know I can do so as well. I'm a dancer as well, and I'm getting Scoliosis surgery on February 26th (which is in three weeks; so nervous 😱) but if you can do it, I know I can, too. Thanks for sharing your story, as you are truly an inspiration. 😊💕👑

wow your recovery seems much better than mine even though my surgery was less invasive. is there any way we could see how big your scar is or where it is? is it a line down the front of your thigh or the side? im confused on how they did the surgery.

Most hip replacements used to have a shelf life of about 10 to 20 years. With teenagers they would wait until skeletal maturity is reached, usually around 16 to 18 years of age. Younger kids they have to do a revision surgery as they continue to grow. In some cases hip replacements in kids actually stunts the growth process. But they are making improvements in technique and material all the time. There is progress in actually growing hip replacements from a patients stem cells. But currently no there are no hip replacements that grow with you.
