Reminds of the good old days in college as a Petroleum Engineering major. I remember my sophomore year, Mondays were my busiest day where I had 4 classes back to back from 1 - 7:30 pm. Honestly I think I spent more time and stress as a student than I do now working full-time as an engineer.

@@msm5146 Just worry about your current semester. Take it one class at a time! I've failed 3 classes so far and I barely finished my 3rd year and won't graduate until an extra semester after my 4th year! There is stress, but use it as a motivator. Last semester I had 25 exams and did a minimum of 1 all-nighter a week. I would be lucky to get a full 8 hours even on the weekend. It was tough, but that feeling of knowing you did your best is really amazing. You got this!

First year was really just a breeze because you've learned many of the topics in highschool and there weren't many homework assignments or projects that needed extra time beyond scheduled hours, except that stupid ass ES1050. There was some crazy workload in my third year with all those assignments and projects plus internship application. But people always have the easy option to copy homework and find someone to carry you in group projects, with the cost of being incompetent after graduation. So there's no need to worry about eng school being hard or easy, it's no pain no gain, we all know that.
@9jfd13 жыл бұрын
Sorry but what University did you attend to? You make it sound like a breeze relying on others and copying. Thus is true with limitations, you cannot sneak away with a degree without mentioning the skills and discipline required for you to apply yourself in 60-75% weighted 3 hr exams. I do not entirely agree with your comments. Queens Mech Eng 05

@@9jfd1 I graduated from Western Comp Eng last June. Yes exams are usually at least 60% and they are mostly painful, but I don't think passing them required as much effort as decently finishing all the assignments. I know people who can't finish any assignments by themselves but still managed graduate and can't find an engineering job. And I didn't mean that graduating without doing any homework and only writing all the exams is easy as a breeze, but to me it would be at least 40% easier. But I did mean really our first year was easy. It could also be that ECE having harder assignments and Mech having harder exams, I'm not sure. This could be true as the electives I've taken (economics, philosophy) had tough exams and almost no assignments compared to my technical courses. But at least I tend to believe that assignments are harder than exams is true for most ECE/software courses. Usually each of those had two to three projects and/or weekly labs that took much more time and frustration than exam preps which were just a few days studying before each exam.
