This is a National Park Camper. Big enough to have what you need an not much else, so that you can get up, get breakfast, and get out for the day's adventures, and you can go almost everywhere with it. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for, while my wife wants Ritz-Carlton on wheels... Make the stable steps standard. Shorten the outside kitchen by 4-6 inches away from the rear of the camper so that you can option a longer awning. The propane connection should actually be back by the outdoor kitchen. I mean, as it is, you'd have to walk from the griddle/grill back to the kitchen, around the steps, etc. Make it two connectors there, or include a Y-connector because I'm gonna need a burner in addition to my griddle.

I think your videos strike a perfect balance between the bland-but-important structural information, the practical storage and sizes information, and the flashy-but-superficial design and decor aspects, with just the right amount of lighthearted fun and info that we noobs may not know sprinkled in. 👍👏 I don't have a strong opinion, one way or the other, about the steps at this point because I've never owned one, but I do feel pretty strongly in favor of an outside kitchen- the bigger, the better. We do most of our living outside when we camp, so, for me, the inside is mainly just for sleeping or if the weather is bad. Thanks for all the edfotainment and getting up at the crack of dawn for us!

This is such a perfect trailer! Just needs a lift and brush guards. I get it about the caffeine. What I do is make half a pitcher every day or organic black tea and to that I add 100% cranberry juice (or any 100% healthy fruit juice) and I drink that over ice. It takes like a Starbux Refresher and half the caffine, and kind of healthy.

just watch this again, because I've ordered this camper and I'm waiting on delivery. Here is something to pass on to Jayco. Move the 2 in receiver for the grill to the back of the camper. this way it can used while traveling. for a bike rack , or a storage unit that uses a 2 in receiver. some other manufacturers do have this on the back of the camper. i was thinking of adding a bolt on type until i heard it will void the warranty and might break the bumper.
@dougm19852 жыл бұрын
the boring stuff is VERY important. we just bought one, our sales person said the frame is also stronger on jayco's . have you heard that? some thing to pass on to jayco is the Tv. mount in the bed room should have arm adjustable arm (swing arm). can't wait to go camping
@JoshtheRVNerd2 жыл бұрын
I've definitely heard that from people and jayco factory folks. But I like to ask them "How/why is that true?" and usually you get that deer in the headlights look. They're using a very similar chassis to just about anyone else from the exact same supplier

I think they should make those steps standard. they just seem a bit safer. I like that it has the trash can storage. people don't realize how much it gets in the way. it has everything you need without a slide which is nice. You giving us all the build info or structure info is great. I have always worked in the trades and still do, so I like to know how things are built. plus it let's you know if the roof will hold solar or not. The separate curtains on the bunks is nice also. It looks to be a great smaller camper, especially for a starter. Keep up the great work, sharing all the info. I am like you, I would like a med cabinet or a towel bar in the bathroom. thanks again.

Looks like a solid entry level family camper. Love your videos. They have been very helpful in my search for the right bunkhouse. I do however wish you talked a bit a about actual pricing. If you really want feedback, you always mention what price point things are at, but never give any real numbers. Having some actual numbers would definitely help out. Even if you only provided ballpark numbers like saying high twenty's I think it would be helpful. Thanks and keep up the great work!
@JoshtheRVNerd3 жыл бұрын
Number change. Sharing them in a video would quickly be invalidated and sometimes badly. Also the vast majority of people seem to have no concept of “recency” of a post. It sets things up for bad expectations So I leave a link you can check any time for current pricing or at least last known MSRP as indicated in the video It’s the only way to have the most current pricing available

Interesting point about no slides. You nave full access to everything. Is a smart design
@americanrambler49723 жыл бұрын
Verdict is in. I don’t like black curtains! But I like this no slide trailer. You can see out of 3 of the 4 sides while sitting at the dinette. Plus, without slides, no slide setup is necessary. Great for rest stop and parking lot use without sprawling across 2 or 3 stalls. Plus, if your tired, you Can just stop and plop down on the bed and take a nap. This trailer is a little heavier than I expected. Changes I would make? 1) door activated auto deploying entry steps. 2) a different more colorful bed curtain. 3) move the toilet paper roll holder to the outside wall due to it being easy to hit entering and exiting the bathroom. (Plus I buy the BIG rolls.) 4) use a free standing table for the dinette. Another recommendation, use a slightly smaller height window at the dinette position so the table will not bang into the glass. (Raise the bottom of the window above tabletop height). Because klutzy (me) or kids. (kids being kids.)

I took delivery of my brand new 2021 224BH at the end of July. It is for me, a single female, and for adult friends to travel with me. I like that there are 4 separate sleeping areas. I would like to be able to add a corner medicine cabinet and an open towel cabinet above the toilet, but my dealer said Jayco will not sell me those so that I could install myself. I don't understand why I cannot buy those, as they make them for other models. I definitely like the Moreride stable steps. I have the slide out camp kitchen with the 2 burner stove. I don't like the 2022 version of the camp kitchen. I bought a 2 burner gas grill, along with a quick connect gas splitter, so that I can use the burners and grill at the same time. I bought 5 beige cloth bins for storage above the queen bed. I keep board games under one dinette bench. The pantry is a great size. Use heavy duty cloth bins to stack/store food. I store pots/pans in bottom of pantry. The cabinet above the sink is large enough for me to store place setting for 8 people (plate, bowl, mug) along with plastic tumblers and mixing bowls. The bathroom is more than large enough to allow guests to do their business comfortably, and to change clothes without bruising their elbows. I also have the factory installed roof solar package, and bought a 2nd battery. I think I need to add more solar panels for next season. I also have the larger 12 volt refridgerator. Overall, the 2022 version is not bad, but I am so glad that I was able to order the 2021 SLX8 224 BH back in March, and it arrived they way I ordered it. I will never regret my decision. I am looking forward to traveling with my friends next season.

Wow...I know this is off topic...but my wife and I watched a video on the Montana High Country 281CK. The length is perfect, love the layout and that bedroom is exactly what we like. So yesterday (11/3) we sent to a dealership that has a new 2022 model. Wow, layout is nice. However, we were SO disappointed. The build quality was so far below our expectations. The cabinet doors were flimsy, the cabinet below the sink was so flimsy that one good bump would crack it in half...same for the wall where the washer/drier would sit. We currently own a 2017 Grand Design Reflection 29RS and are looking to upgrade a bit (so tired of island kitchens)...but after seeing the Montana High Country 281CK, our Reflection's build quality is FAR superior, which was a real shock! We really love the FULL MONTY Montanas, but Keystone needs to step up their game on the High County line. So disappointing. Thanks Josh for the videos! Sorry for the rant but we saw what we saw and you asked for feedback.

Manuel jack for a backup - 👍 outdoor kitchen tho an awning to cover would be nice. I'd be using it alot with my stove/oven combo. That puts you potentially overloaded. Some people are going to say "well just don't tow full cargo" but that's not the legal way of looking at it. You're required to be able to handle the full GVWR/max weight of the trailer In the event of an accident an officer is not going to ask you how much cargo was in your RV. They'll look at the stickers and consider you overloaded. No further questions. I don't like being the bearer of bad news but I do like helping keep folks safe. How much does Jayco allow you to eliminate from the floorplan? I know as times change, people like to update things and some people like their personality to show through in their space. If I wanted to eliminate the bunk beds, the dining table set up, & the bed, but replace the toilet with the Cinderella Freedom Incineration Toilet would they allow that? I wouldn't be moving the trailer. It would be an office/get away space in the backyard. I would not need a lot of that and I would prefer a full size tub in the bathroom. I'd give up the large sink for a small corner sink to soak in a tub without the kids knocking on the door. I just wouldn't want to buy all of that to have to rip it out to personalize it to my taste.

Now that you have access to some “west coast” stuff, could you address the difference between the 224bhw with the Rocky Mountain edition package and/or the Baja package? From what I can tell the Rocky Mountain includes 80 gallons total of water capacity, Baja includes flipped axles, LT all terrain Goodyear tires, and 30lb propane tanks. Any idea if the GAWR on the Baja is higher than the standard?
@JoshtheRVNerd2 жыл бұрын
I don't believe the axles change so the GVWR should be consistent. I don't know offhand each and every difference. I'm still learning a MASSIVE number of new RVs right now kind of on the fly as I go thru my videos. I look at them to see what's similar to what I already know, then I dig into the 5 or 6 unique qualities that really separate and define them

Would love to see this build with out the bunk houses, that section should be left empty so that people can use it as an office area, with work being done more from home now, I have been looking to get a travel trailer with a bunkhouse conversion and not a office space. No beds just flooring. I have seen a lot of aftermarket builds but would love to see a trailer come with a office from the factory with appropriate power outlets and connections.

Can you swap the awning? I would love to have a larger awning. One that basically goes the whole length of the camper. We’re leaning towards the 264BH for the longer awning but even on that model I’d like to go to 20 foot awning or even bigger. Lastly a heated underbelly option would be amazing. My biggest requirement is the zero slides so I’m very limited in finding that with all the other amenities.
@JoshtheRVNerd3 жыл бұрын
You cannot. They build the walls with awning mounts in only specific locations and will not change the build of the RV. Freedom Express has a similar layout coming soon that has a heated belly. It's not been released YET but may turn out to be a viable option for you
@dougm19852 жыл бұрын
you stated you could put a very large tv on the outside. this maybe true. but, i'm returning a 32" tv today because it won't fit on the inside. the mount is to close to the ceiling to hook the tv onto it. so, be warned people , unless you want to have two tv's with you . just go with a 24" model.
@JoshtheRVNerd2 жыл бұрын
TY Doug. Good input here. I've met some folks that would still bring a separate TV just for outdoor use but one screen you move does seem to be the factory intention here

@@JoshtheRVNerd thx for that, so add propane tanks, battery, and jack to get the hitch weight. Have a good one. John
@jimmyogormley39882 жыл бұрын
That's the biggest thing. Your videos are excellence! Measuring a true hitch weight on all these builds would make them phenomenal. When it comes down to it, it's payload capacity in our half-tons that decide what we can trailer, and it's impossible to know the tongue weight until you drive it off the lot and to the CAT scale. If you could do that on these I bet we'd all make the drive to buy from you. Thanks!
@jimmyogormley39882 жыл бұрын
@@johnmaclellan6057 Still dicey with that estimate. Honestly I think that measurement should be mandatory from the factory. My F150 could pull three of these up a hill, but the tongue weight of just one of them loaded for travel and that's the max.

My dad had a camper over cab all in one camper? Hope that's right truck front 1960 something with walk through to camper bed above cab. He took me and my two sisters and step sister on trips and this camper would have been so much more Roomey and has enough sleeping space his didn't have enough. The toilet which we were not allowed to use was in a tiny space that when you say down on the toilet your knees touched the door and if the camper was driving on a bumpy section of road it knocked the door open. Very small kitchen space but we made do and t.v. didn't even enter our minds we had either two Honda 90 motorcycles to ride or go out water skiing in his boat he restored. A old split hull ski boat made from wood had two evenrude 75 motors.

@JoshtheRVNerd3 жыл бұрын
Well I cannot imagine the swapout taking a great deal of time as it's just a regulator. I know the advisory is to not use the RV while waiting on the repair -- is that the hiccup part for you?
