I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely to be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.

First off: no, it's by far not most platonic friends that remain friends until death. This is different for a lot of people, some stay best friends with their first ever friend until they die, but for most people, there were middle school friends, high school friends, college roommates, early work colleagues etc. whom they all once considered close friends but who just end up going different ways. You are right in the sense that it usually doesn't come with a huge fight that breaks platonic friends up, but that's because people generally don't have as high an expectation for platonic friends as they do for partners. If an old platonic friend just fails to show up from time to time, you may think "well, it was nice while it lasted", but with a partner, that's immediately more dramatic because you can't stand the thought of losing that person. Also, the fact that people break up often shows that they weren't truly compatible in the first place and wouldn't have been good platonic friends either. It could often mean other things, too, such as wrong expectations, pressuring your partner, etc., but none of these are truly exclusive to romantic relationships, they're just a result of the fact that your romantic partner generally is the one you will need to get along with in _all_ life circumstances, not just specific situations in which you're usually with your other friends. 2) "you are more likely to be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse." This really depends, but my take is that if you're in a great relationship, then your partner _feels_ like they could be anything - best platonic friend, brother, sister, etc. - while still being the one designated to last a lifetime. 3) "People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend" - true, again, for the same reasons of there being a lot of added pressure due to having to get along in all facets of life, not just a specific thing like, say, doing sports and drinking with your friends, consulting your siblings for advice or just hanging out to have a good time. 4) "Partners and spouses are just temporary." A lot of the time, sadly, yes. Doesn't mean that has to be the case. If you find someone you're truly compatible with, and then you do most things right, you're able to have the best kind of long-lasting relationship there is. And lastly, and this ties back into (2), if you've found someone who is right for you, they can be your platonic and romantic best friend at the same time, and that is, to me, the most wonderful feeling there is. I got lucky, I'm first to admit that most people don't have it as easy, but my soon-to-be-fiancée (and girlfriend of almost seven years) *is* my best friend and my buddy and my peer and all of that at once, while still being the one I love. It hasn't always been easy and of course there was often a lot more pressure than with regular friends, but man does it pay off to work on it when you know they're the one. I hope you got something out of this message! Except if you truly think so, maybe you might be aromantic? Or have you had romantic feelings in the past, just no interest in persuing them long-term?

Like an example is that abuse happens a lot in romantic relationships, while abuse is rare in platonic relationships. So there is a lot of abusive romantic relationships, while there isn't that many abusive platonic relationships. Why do you think abusive romantic relationships have a term for them called "domestic violence", while abusive platonic relationships don't have a term for them? It's because abuse in platonic relationships is very rare, while abuse in romantic relationships happens a lot. And also, a lot of people cheat on their romantic partners with someone else, while most people won't do stuff like that with their platonic best friends. Also, I heard that most people can live a life without romance and can still be happy. But most of the time, if someone doesn't have any platonic friends in their life, it can affect them really bad mentally; much worse than living a life without a romantic partner. In today's world, less people are dating and getting married now, and they seem to be happier being single rather than being in romantic relationship with someone. Also, you're going to have a much deeper spoken understanding and connection with your best friend than you are with a romantic partner or spouse. So those are other reasons why romantic love isn't real or special, while platonic love is.
