My Mom crocheted snowflakes and somehow turned them into squares. Made a beautiful baby blanket or lap robe for a wheelchair user. She made bunches of those in various designs and donated them all to nursing home patients. Making the stars into squares would be a beautiful version of her snowflake squares. She used a sparkling white yarn for the snowflake and different background blues for each blanket. Stars would be lovely in a similar version!

I've been crocheting for years and have avoided granny squares and the like, like the plague simply because the first time I tried learning, it wasn't taught as it was demonstrated, I was simply told what to do. I wasn't taught the terminology or the difference between all the stitches. You make it look and sound so easy and you explain as you go even going into detail why you are doing this stitch here or that stitch there. Your videos are a joy to watch and so easy to follow.
