I'm 3 episodes in. I personally love it so far. It's not exactly following the source material, but they are making common sense decisions within a live action story. Every character has been casted very well in my opinion, it's hilarious as well.

Not every character I think Luffy needs to go to acting school to be honest And Zoro’s line delivery was frustrating half the time and also his face needs way less makeup if he wanna look like a man And I thought arlong was the worse but he was actually ok what really caught me off guard and was really bad was Benn Beckman that guy was so miscasted he wasn’t even in shape to be Benn Beckman it was awful and also Koby’s actor should not return for water 7 because he wouldn’t fit the post training Coby at all they need to get an actual guy to play Coby next time at the very least But some characters I admit were actually even better than the source material like Nami and Usopp and Buggy and Sanji I will always love anime Sanji the most but In the live action just because his gag is so toned down it improves his character a lot

@@captainvaughnidk Nah there’s something wrong with his acting maybe he needs to be more subtle or something like he feels like he’s trying hard in every scene like I get it you’re energetic but don’t be obnoxious I don’t think Luffy’s obnoxious when he’s voiced by the Japanese actress like it just fits in the anime but in live action even his expressions are a bit much sometimes and when he’s angry I don’t buy his anger at all it just looks like someone doing a forced angry face and trying to sound tough idk I just cringe at Luffy half the time and I hate when they make him get too close to characters and be all touchy it’s weird like the scene in Kaya’s mansion when he was on the table and was so close to her and touching her it was so cringe I was on Kuro’s side at that moment I would’ve kicked Luffy out too

I’m only two episodes in, but I’m loving it already! I agree with Jay, I’m here for the heightened/more realistic violence. It makes Garp’s (and by extension the entire Navy’s) claims about pirates being a scourge feel legitimate, and certainly feel legitimate sooner than they did in the anime.

After finishing, I have my nitpicks and issues. I didn't expect to feel things like I did with the original source material, I expected those moments to fall flat or just not carry the weight of the original. Do I think they were AS good? No, but I still felt something when Zoro made his promise to never lose, or when Sanji said his goodbye to Zeff or when Nami asked Luffy to help her. The moments that were moments in the original source material still carried the right amount of weight into live action and that's all I was really asking for. My main gripe is Luffy. I like Inaki, I appreciate him, I just think he's the worst actor of the bunch and his fights fell flat. Zoro's fights were much better done and when the final antagonist of the season is finished in like, 4 hits it's pretty anticlimactic. Also the Kuro fight. Shit Axe Hand Morgan put up more of a fight than Arlong or Kuro did and Buggy seemed like the strongest pirate aside from Mihawk in the show lol. But like I said, despite those minor issues I still really liked it and hope it continues.
