Thank you. I will indeed. Most likely on JayEmm & Friends. I'm still exploring what SNT is or should be but I think that's more a car enthusiast's lifestyle vlog. Reviews seem to suit this channel and James and I have sometimes contrasting preferences so having a little disagreement makes for an interesting dynamic. Thanks for watching!

The 720S is so much bang for the buck, I'd say the car is verging on hypercar performance. I do think the brighter colours would suit it though, like volcano orange or volcano red 🔥

720s look much better in brighter colours, I think. There's so much detail and aero going on, but it gets lost in some colours. I have the tan interior in my 570S. Wasn't sure at first, but I love it now. Brightens the interior so much, especially against the Vega Blue paint.

Been waiting for this. Like I commented on the 488 video it would be the 720S for me. And if you live in spitting distance of Thorney Motorsport, REPerformace or Litchfield then all the better as the independent support for these cars has finally caught up with demand.

Great review, thanks Ant 😎 The paddle position thing is interesting - it seems like making paddles that the driver can select to be either stationary or follow the wheel can't be too technically challenging or costly 🤔 Might be a USP if one of the supercar makers brings this in.

Thanks! Dynamic paddles would be interesting but I think most drivers would never use it. It's not a deal breaker whether they're column-fixed or wheel-fixed and I think it would likely make the mechanisms more expensive for the sake of a tiny number of people who would appreciate it. Could be a marketing gimmick though.

If the 720 is so wonderful that it could be compared to a Lotus, why not buy a Lotus? Both come with reliability issues, but a Lotus is around £50k less, which would make the repairs less of a burden. I feel like I'm talking myself into an Exige. Really good review, Ant. You sold the car for me based on your descriptions.

I've had an exige 380 and now have a 570S. They're in a different league. It's just that the 'feel' and handling characteristics are similar. As great as the exige is on the right day and the right road, its really too focused to be used regularly and enjoyed on the road. Also, let's not pretend that lotus build quality is any better 😅 Just cheaper to fix.

@@HealthMidas I didn't say it's equivalent to a lotus, I complimented the driving dynamics by relating it to the driving feel and agility you get in a lotus. The fact that the 720s can deliver that level of dynamism in the packaging and performance puts it in a different league. I thought that would be obvious and not need to be spelled out. I hope this clarifies my intended meaning now.

The only thing that turns me of about this car is the reliability, but apparently there is a specialist in the uk that knows every little gremlin that can ir will go wrong with a maclaren so if i was to pick one up for the right price i would get the company to do a complete going over 😊

Constant beeping? Just turn the 360 sensors off! It’s on the same knob of the rear side mirror adjuster. About the engine, the 720S is an award winning engine but I agree that in comfort and auto mode the shifting to higher gears can be improved. In sport mode, it is much better. What you did not mention was when the A/C was on and off; the idling RPM is not the same and I think McLaren has improved this in the 750S. (Not a big deal but it should be more refined for it’s price when new). At the current market prices, I don’t understand why people are selling them because they would never be able to buy a better supercar for this amount of money. I guess, after the first owners who took the biggest depreciation, many 720S were flipped and subsequent owners took their shares of depreciation causing the market prices to come down. Why people don’t keep a McLaren too long? 1. Earlier model electronic / firmware gremlins (MP4-12C) 2. McLaren introduced newer and much better model within a few years. 3. Reliability myths and negative rumors from earlier batches owners, non owners, and people who don’t know how to maintain a supercar (or even why they have to!). A McLaren also has its characteristics that are different from most other supercars and it will take a while before owners get used to it. After that, a 720S is still the best ICE supercar money can buy now even at a new price.

incredible car, great value - but I would 10 times out of 10 get the 488 if I was in your position. A Ferrari, even a slightly slower less composed one, is just an event thats only beaten by an even better Ferrari lol

I don't know... I felt that the 720S was more of an event than the 488 for me personally. From its controversial looks, the dihedral doors, the seating position, the feel through your feet and seat, the acceleration, the driving dynamics. I'm far less affected by brand perception - I mean, my favourite car is a Nissan, and my other car is an Audi and I generally prefer Pepsi 😂

Boyo Ant, I could get used to it, and I'm sure you could too. I get the styling, and in that sense we are in disagreement, how you could pass it up, is beyond me, quite genuinely. Especially as nothing within the segment can touch it, and I mean nothing. It is likely to appreciate, as would your opinion of its styling, in quick order. You could try a more vivid colour and perhaps different wheels? Please Ant, work hard to love it, it will repay the effort.

I really agree with those who are saying that Ant is a brilliant presenter - just like James, he really gets you in the feeling of the car Ant - don't be silly - this will always look ugly. You will regret it as you'll see through the upgrades. Get the Ferrari and don't worry about the slight performance downgrade!!!

That's a great compliment!! Huge in fact as James is someone I respect massively. People don't realise how difficult it is to drive an expensive car, that isn't yours, while other drivers are trying to kill you by driving at you on your side of the road... while talking about your experience in the car. He makes it look easy, but it isn't, and he is exceptionally good at it.

Sure it's cheap, but the market is (mostly) efficient and prices things according to their worth. I believe they're that cheap for a reason, which would be evident if you had to own and maintain them for a reasonable amount of time. Still a great car though.

😂 It seems you have your heart set on the 488 GTB, so you are coming up with a bucket of nitpicking excuses to not like the 720S. I had a very nice 488 GTB and I then upgraded to the Pista. I have a very highly speced 720S spider, and it is one of my favorites to drive. Knockwood, I haven't yet had any crazy issues with it and would not part ways with it unless I found an equally highly speced 765lt...!

No, not really... I've always felt this way about the looks of the 720S. I talked about this in a video over 3 years ago (kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXzcnKuInbd1aac ). As I then go on to say in the review you've commented on, the car is so good that you start to put everything else to one side and cannot justify a 488 given how good the 720S is, especially for the money. Have a watch past the criticisms, and you'll see why I end up loving the 720S.

No, my point was that I think the aero elements on the 765LT address my issues with the 720s design. There's aftermarket aero kits for the 720S that suffice in meeting my needs.

"It doesn't know what it wants to be..." I think it does, I think it wants to be an aerodynamic sports car. It's pretty telling from the off with the distinctive headlight design being referred to as "eyeballs", that we're getting a pretty sloppy review of the design. I think I just lost interest in the video from that point.

I didn't realise that using language of professional car designers, anthropomorphising the "face" of a car, made a review sloppy. Sorry you felt that way. And, I stand by my statement from an aesthetics point of view. The 765LT is also designed to be an aerodynamic sports car but balances the aggressive eyes with the design of the additional aero elements. Design is very subjective so we can disagree on aesthetics.

@ let’s get objective. There has been a myriad of headlight designs in the history of the motorcar, so doing something that hasn’t been done before gets increasingly difficult, especially with increasingly restrictive safety regulations. That McLaren have come up with something not only different, but with added functionality is an actual achievement, even (at the risk of upsetting “professional car designers”) if it doesn’t look like an eyeball.

I like the design of the headlights in the context of the same car with more aero elements. If we all liked the same things the world would be boring, no?

The F8 is a bit out of my budget. The 488 in the spec I'd want is a stretch, the 720S is well within my reach... And, so much car and a more dynamic drive than the 488. It's a tough choice.

If you had the money for the f8, would you get it? We seem to have similar taste, I also have a r8 v10 gated, gt63s and I want to sell the gt for something more special. Can’t make up my mind between 720s, 488gtb, f8. I have enough for the f8 but I’m worried I’ll get murdered on depreciation. What would you pick? Also forgot to mention, first time watching you, amazing review. Keep it up! When you made the comment about how the 720s couldn’t make up its mind whether it’s elegant or aggressive I laughed and thought…exactly. The 488 you know it’s drop dead gorgeous. Same with F8. 720 is up in the air. Definitely need an exhaust on all of them though.

Honestly, so would I but that's another £80k, give or take. Of course if it's a choice between the 675LT and the 765LT, I'd prefer the 675, looks wise. I've not driven a 765LT yet though so can't comment on that side of it.

@@sportzntouring765LT is way superior to 675LT in nearly all aspects. However, if you like the P1 front and a cult status car, then go with 675LT. The 765LT is one of the GOAT ICE supercars however.
