@@jkliao6486 I get that, but Jay was really going through the history of McLaren sports cars leading up to the 720S. From that point of view, he should have spent some time on the 675LT. Hi James. The overall stiffness/comfort of the car is something related a bit to 'expectation creep' from a development point of view: the 12C was deemed too soft at the rear and with more aero downforce in the 720S the overall spring frequency and the damping ratio was increased. Trouble is, along the way everyone gets a bit carried away so things sometimes get turned up (or down) and years later you think 'maybe that was a bit too much'. Comfort is subjective and 'at the time' the dynamics team felt that the car was adequately comfortable in Normal mode, however the 720S probably lost some of the Magic Ride, following an ethos of being more sporty. The difference in feel with the 570S is down to certain minor differences from one model to another in terms of wheel offset, EHPS mapping and the goals of the project. 570S was thought as a car where the steering needs to feel nimble and its max speed etc didn't require it to be as stable as 720S. The damping control in 720S is theoretically more clever and complex than 650S but in practice it's down to subjective feel unless you have a 7-post rig. The good news is that the models such as Artura and the ones that are to follow, will continue to push the boundaries so some of the 'aloofness' that the cars of 2011-2017 show is hopefully gone in the cars now. This is thanks to the talented engineers in McLaren who leave no stone unturned in the quest to understand what makes good ride&handling.

@@mcgherkinstudios So, after the slating that he served up in that initial video, is he: 1) Seriously now still recommending that we all, as per the title of the this video: “NEED to Buy….RIGHT NOW….”? 2) Or, is that just cheap ‘Click Bait’ ? 3) Or, is that someone back-pedalling and furiously trying to make amends for what they previously said…..for ‘some reason’ 🤔

I will never understand people who spec supercars in those dour, muted colours, especially when Mclaren offer things like volcano orange which looks awesome.
@baddad092 ай бұрын
I get it, they don't want the attention, they are buying it for themselves. the Loud colors you are buying for the "look at me" statement, like 99% of those in LA or Miami, haha having said that, I would get a bright blue

Those colours are stunning but I think living with it is completely different, you get enough attention as it is plus those Volcano colours are very hard and very costly to paint match should you need a respray.

Excellent observations, as usual. On peripheral matters: 1. Was that a "bug" on the windscreen and how common are they (I ask because in the past few years I haven't gotten any bugs, but they splattered en masse over 20 years ago). 2. Is that village green used for BBC mysteries or are all English villages that charming? 3. None of the motorcyclists turned to look at the 720 (is it because they are used to seeing JayEmm and Harry's cars or is because this is a stealthy looking car?). 4. How did your hair grow back so quickly (just kidding)? Thanks, again, for the enlightenment.
@RogueTrader-2 ай бұрын
You don't get hardly any splattered bugs in England anymore. Back in the 80's 90's every car was covered in them all over the front plate, bumper, grille, windscreen during the summer months. Hundreds of them every week, with quite large blood splats that you had to scrub hard to remove. I know because as kid I used to hand wash cars around the village for extra money. People claim it's due to modern streamlined designs but it's not. I've driven lots of older cars (fast) not washed them all year and not had any bugs on it at the end of summer, even trucks and box vans dont have them.

Wow, Finchingfield is part of the route I take my 570GT out to enjoy it on some good roads. I agree that I wish I could combine the softest damper setting (normal) with the relaxed ESC DYN setting as the default ESC setting absolutely does hold it back out of corners. My assumption is that in order for the ESC DYN setting to let the car slide a bit without getting out of control, they feel they need the firmer damper settings to keep the mass in check. Having said that, I suspect this car's accumulators have leaked leading to the overly firm ride you're experiencing, vs the excellent ride reported by journalists who drove brand new press cars originally - it's very common on Super Series cars, fortunately V Engineering can fit refillable ones, so after that it's a cheap annual service item to keep them fully operational.

Mmm, I don’t have one, nor can I afford one, but. . . . I see a few McLarens about and bar the rarity, it’s nothing to look at, the depreciation is horrendous, almost matched by its panel gaps and the general terrible reliability. I’m sure it’s a fab car, but wow, you need the patience of a saint and the pockets of an oil baron to have a punt on one. Is it the modern day TVR? Some lovely roads around there, hope you had a fab day. Take care fella.

I was discussing this with my brother today - why do manufacturers seem to not realise that making their cars relatively affordable to maintain and with great customer service in the second hand market benefits the brand value and residuals - instead they see the parts and older car area as a cash cow (bentley im looking at you) leaving the cars with savage depreciation and impacting surely new vehicle uptake. When i was around OEM there was a real drive to milk this area rather than cherish it for the sake of the ten year brand value!

Yes but you can also get an F12 for similar money... How anyone would be able to say no to that V12 is beyond me
@coolguy_29972 ай бұрын
People have different views, some consider a supercar only a mid engine setup, plus performance-wise these cars belong to different universes, and you can’t have an f12 as a spider/cabrio, for some it’s important. And actually I don’t much like the looks of the rear of the f12. So I would pick a 720 spider in a bright colour over a f12 coupe easily.
