Compare it to the DB12 and one wonders : what went wrong? The Roma is currently the closest thing we get to that timeless and elegant philosophy imo. The irony…
@dadcars Жыл бұрын
I can’t disagree with this 🥲 I do love the modern Astons too but they feel very different
@BRAINFxck10 Жыл бұрын
I disagree about the Roma because you used the phrase “timeless and elegant philosophy” so in that regard the Bentley Continental GT is the closest thing to a DB9, the new Bentley truly looks timeless and elegant, the fit and finish is levels above the Roma, and you can still buy the Bentley with a 12 cylinder engine.
@dereliflorent389 Жыл бұрын
@@BRAINFxck10 I personally can’t with Bentleys. To me, they look fat and they overindulge on luxurious touches. They scream “look I have money” with a boomer voice. Their are “too much”. Always seemed to me like the car for people who can’t afford a Rolls Royce (which I don’t have much love for either). The Roma, while obviously hard to ignore when it’s passing by, has a more understated and simple approach to its design that I associate with elegance and what Aston used to represent. It was the perfect answer to the DB11. Would still favour the latter though. But the DB12’s front is absolutely disgusting and I think the Roma out-Aston it by a long mile. Of course this is only my opinion. To each their own :)
@dereliflorent389 Жыл бұрын
@@BRAINFxck10 To your point though, I much prefer the latest Continental to the previous generation. Definitely more classy, especially the rear end. Still too boxy and massive for my tastes, but it’s a big step in the right direction.

The DB9 hasn't dated IMHO, put it into context, we're talking about a 20+ year old design... It's now a real classic. I think those graceful lines are much classier than the modern models, and true to what I think an Aston Martin should be.
@jamesmaybrick2001 Жыл бұрын
Astons dont date. Thats why they are Astons. 20 years from now they will still be great. Completely unusable museum pieces because petrol will be either gone or unaffordable, but still beautiful.

People how much do you reckon I can grab myself a Good example of this vehicle in reasonably good condition & milage at this age?

In the states? 45-65k for good early models, the later ones are still trading above 70.

Man, Ant is missing a really good opportunity here just because the car makes him "look older"... Six months from now, he could realise he's no teenager anymore and had a gorgeous DB9 V12 slipped from his fingers!

It's not that I look older, I felt older. It's a great car! And if I had a spare £35k - £40k I'd have seriously considered it.

Despite the number of Aston's that were used by 007 it wasn't how Ian Fleming scripted it..... Apparently the car was meant to be a Bentley (forgot the model) and they quietly but firmly chose to withdraw their guarantee due to a Supercharger modification. DB9 is nice but its not for me.

Better buying a DB7. They will be the one to collect.
@madcoyote Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be sure about that. DB7 was the Era of Aston being owned by Ford...and on the other hand DB9 had a long run + great publicity...most famous one...the DB9 was named the coolest car of the Top Gear Triple and instead of putting it on the cool board, they put it in a fridge 😅 As for me, the DB9 was the first car I purposely put as my background screen on my PC. For it was drop dead gorgeous and it seems also timeless :)
@DaleSteel Жыл бұрын
@@madcoyote irrelevant. Db7 is shooting up in value. Db9 is not. Db7 was the first car of the new generation of Aston with new look.

DaleSteel, finally someone who understands the DB7! Yes, the DB9 is a very beautiful car, probably more so than the DB7. BUT... the DB7 was produced still in rather low numbers, whereas the DB9 is kind of a 'mass-production' Aston. Also, the DB7 is now becoming a real classic car given its age, which is not the case for the DB9. Also, the manual DB7s are very rare. Sure, there are also manual DB9s, but these are extremely hard to find. The DB7 V12 Vantage Coupe has all the ingredients to be a real classic, with prices soon to go up sharply: First the badge, it simply is a real Aston, no matter what parts stem from other makes. Then, it's a naturally aspirated V12 Aston produced in low numbers. Third, coupled with the rare manual stick shift, the V12 is a dream to drive. Fourth: especially as a Coupe, the DB7 is incredibly timelessly beautiful! Conclusion: the manual DB7 V12 Vantage Coupe is a guaranteed future classic whose prices will soon go up sharply. Now is the time to get one before it becomes unaffordable.
