Sparks can be changed easily via the access panel behind the seats. The side scoops feed the intercooler! It's also where Alpine put theirs. The rear lights are definitely Sierra and always were on the 300. This car has been resprayed and isn't wearing its original colour. Mine was its twin and now lives in France.

I've had the luck of driving one of these (biturbo version) at Francorchamps. In a sense it does feel a lot like a mixture between the Lotus Esprit and the Renault Alpine A610 turbo of the late eighties early nineties. It is less nimble than the former and for some reason (despite the much higher torque and power figures) it feels less pushy, less grunty than the alpine, but makes it up with a well planted feeling. Nice to see it on this channel, hope to see more interesting stuff again

I like in the USA and am the proud owner of a 2000 Venturi Atlantique Twin-Turbo. In reference to the in vehicle engine noise - it is so incredibly loud that the stereo system isn’t audible at any high speed on the motorway. Also another poor design element is the lack of heat distribution for engine oil cooling. If you get stuck in stop and go traffic on a hot day, in this vehicle, you are in serious trouble. The problem lies with the placement of the inter cooler being in the back getting NO airflow AND getting blasted with engine bay heat from the boot then the vehicle begins to “beep beep beep beep” when the temperature soars past 220 Fahrenheit & if one isn’t careful you could crack a head in the blink of an eye. But, after all it is French and still is a phenomenal car to drive. Ours has a mere 21k original miles. It’s impeccable to look at and drive!!

You should definitely be running Evans Waterless Coolant, & then you can run a 0 psi rad.-cap. Also look into running a Davis Craig electric waterpump. You remove the impeller off the stock pump, bypass the pulley with a different belt , (but not necessary), then remove the thermostat. My theory with the old PRV's cooling system was deficient the pump cavitates on the rear mounted engines vs. front mounted engines with the radiator closer to the pump, & less pumping volume distance. I can only wonder the true coolant temps are around the cylinder liners, & cavitation there also. Evans coolant will take care of it that's why its also NHRA/NASCAR approved for track use, but also because how efficient propylene glycol is, & doesn't boil. You may need a good oil cooler, & you should also be using a boutique high performance blended oil like High Performance Lubricants with 860ppm of MoDTC (Moly), or Joe Gibbs Driven oil, Schaffers Oil, Miller's Oil. RedLine & Amsoil is at the lower end of the boutique oils. Let me know if you have any other questions, you lucky guy!

That 300 is I believe formerly owned by Renault Alpine Owners Club and former A610 owner Pauly A610. He did do a lot of work to it to bring what was a scruffy car from storage to a very nice clean car, He has sold it on now and I don't know where it went. Originally the earlier cars were made by MVS and were called Venturi as a model. These earlier cars used the very same engine and gearbox as Alpine did for their GTA turbo models delivering 200hp, hence now these earlier cars are referred to as the 200. The GTA version had its engine moved through 180 degrees making it a rear engine car with the gear box intruding into the rear just like a Porsche 911. The Venturi has had the engine and gear box placed into the rear of the car with the engine forward of the gear box meaning it is a mid-engine car. Around 1992 MVS became Venturi and the model names became the 210, (an increased power version of the 200), and the 260, developing 260bhp by changing the crankshaft from a Renault to a Volvo to give 2900cc from the 2500cc, Venturi also had to have bespoke ECU’s made for the 260 variants as Renault did not have a 2900cc turbo engine. The chassis on all road going Venturi/MVS,(200/210/260/300 Atlantique/400 GT), are not tubular but rather steel pressed and are so ridged they are capable of being driven without body work. The chassis for the 400 trophy was developed from the 260 but for the 400 Trophy single make race series they widened the track and lengthened the wheel base. When Venturi decided to replace the 260 with the 300 they used the new 400 Trophy chassis dimensions kept the same cock pit sizes, dashboard and centre tunnel to save on costs designing the new body work of the 300 to provide the width needed between the 260 and the 300. The 260 is probably a little more hardcore than the 300 with the 300 being a little more “Grown up” and a tour-er compared to the 260. The naturally aspirated version of the Atlantique was indeed built and offered for sale though it was not at all popular, hardly surprising really as not only did it feature a non-turbo charged engine, Venturi for some bizarre reason chose to offer the car with an automatic gear box making the car painfully slow and barely any cheaper than the turbo version. The Turbo version of the car rejoiced in the full name of Atlantique 300 and the non turbo, Atlantique. Well it could not get anywhere near the 300 bhp of the turbo car, 285 bhp or there about and the Bi-turbo almost reaching the dizzy heights of 300 bhp with a very close 290’ plus bhp. All Venturi cars were built with longitudinal engine and gearbox installations with the exception of the unloved naturally aspirated Atlantique. If you have gotten this far, well done and I hope it helps supplement the above video.

@HELMUT ALTO ---- Hi no club in the Great Britain though we did run a sort of Forum on Yahoo pages but that sort of faded away as people sold their cars on. The car's you have shown in the videos are genuine UK cars and not termed as an import, even though they were brought into the country from France. In the same way a Renault Clio that is RHD and sold from a Renault dealership is not viewed as an import. By the way the blue car in the 1st video is my car and was filmed at a Renault WSR weekend at Silverstone some years ago now. I am not the video maker or poster. All the best.

I used to own 'the green one' as it is known and as used on Top Gear .Reg Mk A300 VEN - then changed to R3 PPB - it came back broken - I fixed it at my cost - then I crashed in the front spoiler - then I got it back and did exactly the same thing again on the same day!! I worked out that it did more miles on my car trailer toing and froing from Cheltenham to Oselli in Whitney Oxfordshire than it did whilst under its power in my care. I loved it - I have had Ferrari's; Lotus, TVR and yet this is the car I enjoyed the most. Simply put it was drama free - just expensive to put right - it was better when I had the power steering turned off - the pop up headlights would work independently of each other and it overheated constantly so I had a switch put in under the steering wheel to turn the fan on. Two months ago it was up for sale for 50K - have not checked it recently 50k is 5X what I sold it for!!!!!! If you look carefully you can see the little orange switch!!

I would but for one small thing - parts would by my fear - those darn lights were comedy - dare you 'flash someone as one would pop up and as it went down the other would come up and then stay there!!! Despite spending a fortune getting them right they still never worked properly - however with all the quirks - the handling was incredible - the whistle from the turbo insane and the sudden power available sublime yet almost zero engine noise. I once went to Prestbury Hill Climb in Cheltenham and there was an impromptu Venturi/Renault A600 meet - I made my way over and said "I've got one of these" The French guy who was organising it said "is it a green one?" When I said "yes" he said "We have been looking fo it, is there any chance you can bring it" - I went home and got it - and it overheated on the way back!!!! To fix it meant taking the body off - again!!!!

Being in the USA, I knew I would never own one and especially considering how many were made in total, even being able to import some of them by now, would be cost prohibitive. My friends never even knew what this car was but I have always wanted one... beautiful cars. I'll settle for an Esprit though ;)

I always thought that Venturi only made race cars, nice to be proved wrong though, really nice car and a great review, so no need to worry about the first review in 2 decades....you suceeded to do it proud 👍

I remember them from the BPR GT Sports car Endurance racing series which took over from Group C in the early 1990s when sports racers HAD to be based on production cars. They did quite well against F40s and Porkers but not Mclaren GTRs which were a class above. BPR was suceeded by the FIA GT series with Corvettes and Vipers and prototypes along with the Merc SLKs and Porker GT1s which were really prototypes and seriously fast. I think Venturi went bump at the turn of the century.

I like the clean styling and simple, symmetrical interior.

Very nice video! Never seen one of these for real, only as you say in Gran Turismo and maybe a magazine somewhere. Both the PRV6 and the newer ES9J4(S) V6 are Peugeot/Renault collaborations. I think Venturi was the only company to to try and wrestle more power out of the old cast iron lump, which can also of course be found in the back of a DeLorean. Wikipedia will tell you the PRV6 was made from 1974 to 1998, 24 years! Very happy to see this beautiful car, and happy to hear it's actually a quality product, that doesn't happen very often with French cars. Sounds like they made a proper GT car.

I disagree about the sound, but maybe it sounds better from the outside. The sound at 9:39 is exotic, expensive and fast!

Always liked these. Love the colour. Found you on Instagram, shame you couldn't review that RS2. I remember my boss giving me a lift home in one in 2003. I'm still in ore of it.

@@JayEmmOnCars Ah, I did think that would have been unusual. Looking forward to it.

It might be a 90 degree V6 but I guess by then it would have had an "even fire" crank. These had offset crank pins to give a 120 degree firing angle like a 60 degree V6. My old Peugeot 604 had the "odd fire" crank so it is 90-150-90-150-90-150 which is a slightly odd sound.

There was a few of these used in the British GT, huge big F40 wings on the back. 400GTs I think

Nice one Jay, really like this car, for me it has always sat somewhere between the Renault Alpine and the Lotus Esprit..., probably supposed to be a french Aston..GT car.. it would be interesting to see the car up on a ramp, I wonder if it's getting its cool air into the engine from underneath.. I would give you 5 likes for quality rare content....:-)
