It’s very common for chinese to call each other “handsome” and “pretty”, which is a newer habit since (maybe) 20 years ago. So dont feel weird that they call you handsome or pretty, it’s very common and doesnt sound weird in chinese, but when it’s translated to english, i understand that it could sound awkward.

@@davidmacbeth4997 What most people don’t get this downturn was by design by the Chinese Government In China in 2008 around 70% of the people in their real estate markets were buying their 1st homes in their cities By 2018 around 70% of the people in their real estate markets were buying their 2nd and 3rd homes in their cities That’s why you are hearing about problems with their property developers these days. Because back in 2010? Their Central Government started cutting of money flow to these developers. Thus why you heard about Shadow Banks and Underground Economy back then, that their Government had to come into to shutdown or regulate. Even then, It took them almost 14 years to get their overheated real estate under control Heck they were about to introduce a nation wide property tax, but then trump started the trade war in 2018 Why is their Central Government doing this? Because there are still a few hundred million poorer rural folk they still expect to move to the cities to join their more well off urban city folk countrymen. Problem is these property developers were building higher end homes, and not building the affordable homes these rural migrants will need In China Owning a home in the city you migrate to? Affects your employment, health, education and even marriage prospects don’t have a house you don’t get married Thus the common prosperity push and the crackdown on the overt displays of wealth in China Their Government probably figured out you disenfranchise the people at the bottom of your society they are the ones most likely to act out in protest

If the West and allies acknowledge China's achievements under CCP as a good thing then they are inadvertently conceding that some non liberal democratic systems can also be productive and successful. If this is the case then the US system that the West has been championing across the globe is not the only way forward. Spreading liberal democracy has been a US foreign policy for a very long time.

Hey hope you have a blast in Chongqing! That hotel looks really nice. And with great value for the money too. As general advice for first time China travellers, if you don't know what hotels to book in major chinese cities, go with the local 3-star hotel chains for price range between rmb250 to 400. That's the safest choice. They all come as clean, modern and conveniently located. You won't ever find grand ball rooms or michellin star restaurants in those, but they are absolutely lovely for a few days' staying.

When eating hot pot, it must be paired with rice, otherwise the vegetables alone will be salty. If you don't like rice, you can also order a noodle to eat hot pot, so that you can be full without being too salty. When eating hot pot in Chongqing, be sure not to order it too spicy. You can order it a little spicy.

Never thought you guys ventured to ChongQing right after the Mid-Autumn Festival, I truly hope you were not 'hot to death', cause you were experiencing the longest hottest session among the last several decades. That's why CQ got a nick name, the Furnace. CQ also has another nickname called the Capital of Fog, and the locals have to resist moisture and high humidity by having spicy food. So, for those who want to travel to CQ, if you wish to enjoy sunny days but not to hot, you may go in (maybe only) June, if you want to appreciate a mysterious foggy cyberpunk city, you may go in winter. The characters, 重庆, literally means double festivities. Wish you two enjoyed your time in CQ and had great days in Yinbin(宜宾) if you did go.

The real fact: Only people in Chongqing eat rabbit heads, this food is not available in other provinces. Because many girls are afraid of eating rabbit heads. I saw fried bugs and scorpions being sold, but not many people actually ate them. They were just for sale to tourists, and they didn’t sell well. Ordinary people didn’t like to eat them. What Chinese girls love most is milk tea and hot pot.

In China, scorpions and spiders and other insects on food stalls are often for the bold people to try(Fried and roasted cicada pupae, which you confused about in the video, are popular in the north), most people will not eat, and rabbit head and rabbit meat tend to be a more common food, rabbit is a kind of meat with almost no fat, and its cheeks are very juicy and soft, if you are willing to try, rabbit meat does not have any strange taste. All you can taste is the flavor of the sauce and its rich texture
