I've always thought this song was NICE but only recently when my 7 year old daughter randomly declared it to me as one of her favourite songs did it hit on anotha level. Janice and Sonia, to hear you both cover this song by Des'ree (then a South London music artist) is something I never thought you'd do well but you two did wonderful with the cover. I grew up hearing her on PBS kids and a version of her song (the '99 mix of "You gotta be") was used on that block of PBS a long time ago. Part of it as well was regarding me growing up within a family that came from one of the many countries that the British Empire once controlled not too long ago. As a result of wanting to embrace the aforementioned commonwealth heritage, I think we were the only family in an housing project that played British, Irish and native songs (by way of my parents and their friends) in addition to American songs that my older brothers and later my younger brother introduced to me. I recently compiled a collection of songs from a North London music artist named Jessica Hannah Glynne (AKA Jess Glynne), and the songs that she's done have underlying messages in them. The added bonus is that a bus driver I met one night at a bus stop also has her name and loves her music too. I hope you two get around to doing one of her songs.
