It's not so much about losing his virginity as it is the song of life. When you're young/ preteen that is your Spring. As you grow into your teens/ 20's that is the Summer of your life. As you enter midlife (50's) you enter the Autumn of your life. The time in your life when you realize you are closer to the end than the beginning. When your health starts failing and you are more aware of problems facing you. Waiting on the thunder. The Winter.

Roll Me Away makes my spirit soar. BTW, Mackinaw City is at the tip of the Michigan Mitten right near the 5 mile long Mackinac (different spelling, same pronunciation) Bridge to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Check out a map. Bob's (and my) home state is really unique in this way..... And if he were 12 hours out of Mackinaw City, Bob would likely be heading west through the upper US or lower Canada. @@HappyHumanist369 I'm not sure if Glenn ever sang it. A couple of producers/songwriters wrote the song for the movie. They wanted Glenn to sing it because he sang "The Heat Is On" for the first Beverly Hills Cop movie. He had throat issues so they called in Bob. Bob liked the song but rewrote parts of it. That's why Bob gets co-writing credit on the song with the two producers. After it hit #1 Glenn sent Bob a message saying he's glad the #1 hit was from another Michigan native. Bob and Glenn had been friends in Michigan before Glenn even knew any of his Eagles bandmates.

This is back when artists were “artful” now a pop/rock/rap singer would just go straight X rated with the lyrics without any poetry Being a bit older now, I see and understand other aspects of the lyrics for example when he sings “with autumn closing in”. The song is a nostalgic celebration of the “summer” of life and all too soon we experience the “autumn” of our lives
