Yep. When I was old enough to start going to clubs and bars in the mid-late 80s, this song was played at least once every night. That all the Billy Idol cover of “Monie Monie” where the DJ would pause the song periodically so the whole club/bar could chant “hey everybody get laid, get f*cked!”

One year at our company Halloween party, I dressed as Steve Urkel. I am a woman btw. I had my hair in two ponytails, with glasses, my shirt buttoned to the neck, tucked into my skirt. Knee socks and sneakers. Pencils and pens in my pocket. They started playing Strokin'. Just imagine a female Urkel dancing to Strokin'. That was one of the best nights of my life. Hilarious! When I was a kid, I used to mix Clarence Carter up with Joe Tex. Joe Tex and The Sex-O-Lettes. Good god. Joe was the guy who sang "Don't Want to Bump No More (with No Big Fat Woman)" in the 70s. But if I recall correctly, Joe wasn't so little himself.

Most of the country bars(in East Texas) I've been to will play this song. Dance floor will fill up with women line dancing to it. Usually is followed closely by Cha Cha Slide and Cupid Shuffle.

The first time I heard this son was many years back when I was visiting my brother in New Orleans. He and I went down to the French Quarter, I stopped at a corner bar to peek inside and see what it looked like. This song came on and this gentlemen just grabbed by arm and out in the street he had me dancing to this. My brother was in stitches. I had a great time. He came and hugged me afterwards and thanked me for the dance. Was a wonderful time when people dd not like dislike each other for various reasons. it was fun!!
