Someone has already mentioned it; "Runaways". Lita Ford was really big in the 80's and 90's. I have all her albums. She's just a damn good performer and she writes almost of her own lyrics and music. Love smart, independent women that won't take sh*t from no one. As for Heart, they are sisters. Ann and Nancy Wilson. Another great band to listen to.

I know people here have already mentioned that Lita Ford and Joan Jett were in The Runaways together but what I haven't seen mentioned yet is that Micki Steele, who was in The Runaways with them, was also a member of The Bangles (who I noticed you're reacting to today as well). Also, if memory serves me, Sharon Osbourne was managing Lita at this time which is what made this truly legendary performance possible. There are a few Lita songs that were decent sized hits for her and one of them actually inspired me to create this user name decades ago. The song was called Dancin' on the Edge. It was the title track on her 2nd solo album. Other songs that are too good to miss are Gotta Let Go, (One Shot of) Poison, Kiss Me Deadly, Black Widow, Lisa, Larger than Life and Hungry. Some other amazing ladies from that era that you don't hear a lot about today were Doro Pesch (lead vocalist of Warlock, who also had an amazing solo career), Sandy Saraya (lead singer of the band Saraya), Lee Aaron and the band Girlschool. They were some of the best hard rock/heavy metal had to offer in the 80s-90s (next to the usual suspects).

I have loved Lita Ford from the start. This song with Ozzy demonstrates her ability but also highlights Ozzy's unique voice. Definitely one of my favorites from back in the day ...❤️
@deborahcornell1714 жыл бұрын
I'm sitting here watching Ozzy's current tv show "The Osbournes Want To Know" when this notification popped up. Also watched a documentary about him the other day. Ozzy's a little frail these days but oh, man..what a wild roller coaster of a life he's led. Would love to see you do "No More Tears". I think it's one of his best. 💙
@deborahcornell1714 жыл бұрын
@robrcx Actually, I didn't know all that. I knew about the ATV accident & they discussed it in the documentary I watched. They also said they think he has a form of Parkinson's but then said it might be some sort of neurological damage from years ago & how he's abused his body over the years. I didn't know about the fall or that he's planning to tour again. I hope that happens because I've heard him say he's happiest when he's onstage. I was afraid it's now a thing of the past. Hopefully not. It's funny, in my teens & 20's I was always going to concerts. Saw everyone from Hendrix to Zeppelin (3 times) but somehow missed out on Ozzy, whether with Black Sabbath or solo. Wish I'd seen him back in the day. I always felt a little sorry for Ozzy. Not sure why. Famous, successful, talented, rich Rock Star who also has a family that loves him. All good things. But it always seemed to me there's a tenderhearted little boy inside (despite all the drugs, booze & doing some awfully crazy things). Watching the documentary made me realize I just might be right about him. He's carried a lot of sadness around all his life. If you're interested in trying to catch the documentary I saw, it was on the "Biography" series on A&E. Anyway, I hope for the best for him. And thank you for the info & friendly reply. I appreciate it. You filled in some blanks.💙🌿

Heard Runaways in 1975 on WDVE Pittsburgh rocks on the midnight album hour where they would debut albums often of unknown bands . I was 18, same age as Lita at that time. I found their little garage band from California seductive and collected every album the did. Lita was a stand out then with a slow dirty blues riff called Johnny Guitar. knew she'd be big one day. CLOSE MY EYES FOREVER was a duet between Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne that was co-written between Lita and Ozzy. Ozzy's wife Sharon Osbourne was Lita Ford's manager around the time of her third album. She also had a song on that album she co-wrote with Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead called CAN'T CATCH ME. Lita Ford was dating Nikki Sixx (bass player and main songwriter for Motley Crue) around the time she was recording her third album Lita. He co-wrote a song on that album with her called FALLING IN AND OUT OF LOVE and Motley Crue did a tour with Ozzy Osbourne around the same time she was working on her third album. CLOSE MY EYES FOREVER was the last song on Lita's third album.

The backstory on that song is very interesting. Stevie wrote that for Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter and they agreed that no one would record it except for Waylon and Jessi or Stevie and Don. Not exactly four people you would have put together but with musicians they just look at each other as musicians, not rock singers or country singers or whatever, they just appreciate each other's talent. Waylon, The Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac are definitely in my top 10 and always have been. Awesome musicians!! They were the best.

You are correct. I saw an interview with Lita and the three of them were drinking and hanging out and later that night Sharon left home. Lita stated at the time Ozzy and Sharon's marriage was on the rocks. Lita and Izzy drank and played pool thru the night and as musians do started writing a song. Most of the lyrics came from Ozzy. Lita thinks this is what Ozzy was thinking about his current situation with Sharon and came out in this song the two of them wrote that night.

Have you heard "I'm a dreamer" by Ozzy Osbourne? If you haven't you should.

I think it's called Dreamer, but either way a good song.

It is called Dreamer. Almost like Ozzy's version of John Lennon's Imagine. Which makes sense seeing as John was one of Ozzy's idols growing up.

@Matthew Drake that's true. Sorry, my bad, but yes, it's such a beautiful song.

Lita was the Queen of Metal in the 80's and 90's along with Doro Pesch (Warlock and Doro). Then Grunge came along , and she went on hiatus for a over a decade.She is back and on tour. Izzy Hale has taken up the mantle, and has even performed with Lita on occasion. There is a lot of mutual respect between them. You might want to check them out. Lzzy and Lita have a couple of videos together doing "Close My Eyes Forever" and "Cherry Bomb" They are a must see.

I love watching your reactions. I found if funny when you expected to see Ozzy playing that guitar when the camera panned up in the beginning. Ozzy doesn't even play guitar. ;-) Lita rocks and Rules!!
