LOLl), when he'd put on this song, if they'd never it before. My father was one of the last of the great patrons. If he liked your band, he'd show up to see you play with friends & ready to start the party. He was always great fun to be with, always in the center of the action. I miss him very much since he died in 2014. Today is his 75th birthday, and unlike the last few yrs, his absence is strongly felt in a way that I haven't felt since the first yr he was gone. I love watching these. Deep Purple was my first rock show. It was 1973 and I was 11. Blew my little mind. I went with a buddy. He was 12 and we were properly chaperoned.

You need to do "Woman from Tokyo!" Best cymbal and hi-hat work in rock history. The '99 Mix is the longest studio version, and it sounds particularly great.

I saw Deep Purple during the Perfect Stranger tour. Man! My grandfather turned me on to Deep Purple when I was an early teen with the live Made in Japan album. Changed my life forever. Lazy, Highway Star, and Child in Time are my favorite tracks on that album. It just kicks some serious ass.

This was my favorite band when i was a teen with Led Zeppelin was #2 favorite. Saw Deep Purple in Aug 1972 at the Civic Arena, incredible concert!!!! Then again in 1974, Mach 3, Richfield Coliseum, Cleveland! Again incredible. Went to the concert with a girl i really liked who became my wife 3 years later ! ;-) We're in our 60's and still love Deep Purple and Led!!

Saludos

Another 1 of my very favorites from the "old days"! This has to be Ritchie's all-time smoothest solo, in a career filled with great guitar work. It's blues, but really bordering on jazz. Timeless & incredible! Jamel, you mean you don't react to anything unless others are reacting? I understand about not wanting to get blocks/strikes, but then on the other hand, how do you find any new music that no one's yet reacting to?

I'll never forget 1st hearing this. I was 13 & into all the 60s/early 70s radio stuff at the time. This sounds like a funeral! Then its a horror movie! One of the coolest intro's in history! It sounded like nothing on the radio. Then Made In Japan came out............................61 years old and still a full on Deep Purple freak.

After that "Phantom Of The Opera" organ intro by Jon Lord, it settles down and becomes a plain ol' 12-bar Blues. That's lead singer Ian Gillan on harp (AKA harmonica).

I played this song for a friend that was into that grungy pig squealing trash metal. He thought the band wouldn't so any screaming and had never heard of Deep Purple. His jaw hit the floor at the shredding guitar solos and long drawn out Laaaazzzyyy!!! I'm so glad my dad got me hooked on classic rock. It's the cats ass. Screamo doesn't hold a candle to bands like Deep Purple.
