Perfectly stated. I don't care about color or genre. For me, it's about seeing him shatter people's expectations of what they think they are going to hear. There have been many crossover musicians in recording history. But I've never heard of another artist where it's truly hard to lock them into any genre like Chris. His appeal is universal. When people hear Tennessee Whisky or see his Austin City Limits performance or even the CMA performance with Justin Timberlake they instantly become fans. He's transcended the country genre because he's so much more than that.

So i looked up the original and listened and Oh! Em! Gee! There as NO comparison! Chris Stapleton took this song with already great lyrics and turned it into his very own. I don't care how many more covers come off it,it'll never get better than this. The original singer would've been proud.
