His level of complexity to what you hear within this performance is extraordinary on many levels: technical, agility, cut rhythms, creativity and natural ability to mention some of those things. Spent years playing this bands music (as guitarist), and this has to be one of his greatest live performances .
@asraharrison4 жыл бұрын
As a former drummer, what really separates Neil Peart from the crowd is how clean he was. The stuff non-drummers don't appreciate is the fact that parts of his solo are single stroke rolls, matched grip... then he switches effortlessly to traditional grip, double stroke rolls... his drumming is perfect, never sloppy. Simple elegant, yet often times almost impossible to duplicate! He was also a brilliant lyricist and songwriter.... He is the GOAT! There will never be another drummer like him. Thanks for giving him your attention.

extremely clean.. the sound is not dragged by an uneven hitting force in the mix of continuous hits with the sticks. his hemispheres are completely separate for timings. I think in the beginning he had 6 different rhythm timings going when he was reaching back almost 180 degrees to hit some drums. later the snare rolls in either style were so fast and clean

I myself have played drums for 30 years. This is the master of Drumming. When he drums crossing his arms back and forth starting at 1030 and not hitting the rims plus the qauds on the base is the hardest thing to do. I have the ability to drum using various techniques I've learned throughout my life but I have to say that I am not capable of doing it. I have tried about 25 times and I always hit the rims. My favorite band in high school. The best concert I’ve ever seen. It was an honor to be able to see them live. RIP Neil, you will not be forgotten.

Love that switch from matched grip to traditional. This man was a true phenom! We were blessed to hear his music (both his percussion chops and his lyrics)!

Hearing about Neil's passing hit me particularly hard. Forever air drumming to Xanadu👌

I was fortunate enough to sit above Neil, right of the stage years ago. His hands were so fast, so smooth, the video couldn't pick up all his movements. He was the Time Keeper, the Master of Percussion, the The Wizard of the Skins. I am thankful to have seen them live many times. My all time fav drummer, Neil Peart...RIP🙏

It’s easy to forget how a great musician, maybe especially a drummer, is also a great athlete. Making real music is a physical art. Besides the brute force and endurance required, rhythm has to be unconsciously perfect, memory flawless, reactions lightning fast, and hand-eye coordination like a baseball hitter’s. Like you said, he’s not young. So he’s dedicated. Great drummer. Drummers are like goalkeepers: they’re born that way. You either want to play drums or goalkeeper and nothing else, or you want nothing to do with it. R.I.P., Mr. Peart

I hope most realize each part of this solo was taken from each solo over his career and each piece represents a part of his life.

Everyone has their favorite drummer, some great ones out there to chose from. For me, no man who ever picked up a stick and purposely hit something with it in order to produce sound did it better than Neil Peart. He was born to do this.

I've never been a celebrity type person but I still get teary eyed knowing such beautiful music and exquisitely crafted lyrics will never be written again and as a long time Rush fan I appreciate your heart felt condolences. If there's one thing I am grateful for it's that I got to be here for the wonderful ride.

All a matter of *feel* and not just "good time". Metronomes have good time, but no *feel*.
