Yeah! Brian May Live at Brixton is a fantastic rendition!
@ben1ben3 жыл бұрын
Yea he did say something like that, he played it live together with the original Drummer Cozy Powell. I do not agree with Brian since probably everything he had done with Queen and especially his solo song Resurrection is better than since you been gone, also anything with Dio in Rainbow was also better (Kill the King for example). Its a weird statement by Bri.
@@ben1ben From a music perspective it is perfect in a sense. The chord progression, the intervals, the structure of the song all just screams rock song. So maybe in that sense he meant it is perfect. There is no fat on the song, plenty of hooks that are simple and easy to remember. Super relatable lyrics and great vocal harmonies, all hallmarks of 70s rock but rarely done this well. When you make music you have a great appreciation for songs like this that are simple yet perfect, it is really hard to just write a song like this.

Rainbow was Ritchie Blackmore's baby and Ritchie is famous for his "difficult" persona. He was a small dictator, a serious prankster famous for his outbursts. The singer in the clip is Graham Bonnet, Ritchie's personal choice as the replacement of Dio. There is a funny video on KZbin on which Ritchie talking about Bonnet saying that Rainbow were about to start their first tour with Graham as their lead singer and as he had his hair short Ritchie told him that their fans expected him to wear his hair long having a kind of "dirty" look and asked him to let his hair grow in those 3 months before their opening gig at Newcastle. Graham on the other hand was threating him that he was going to cut it really short. So Ritchie put a guy next to his room and asked him to look over him. But Graham left the room through the window and got his hair cut. Richie says and i quote : "On stage that night i was seriously contemplating hitting him over the head with my guitar" Of course he only lasted for 1 year. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYm6ZIWhbdqggrs

As a beginning musician in the mid to late 70’s this collection of musicians was vitally important to my development, and not just as a musician. I can distinctly remember spending an entire year at 14 years old striving to look like drummer Cozy Powell, medium length black hair with fringe, traditional grip, playing metal, satin tour jacket, sky blue and silver, with sleeves rolled up. Holding EVERYBODY to my perceived excellence ala Ritchie Blackmore. Trying to be an all around good guy like Roger G and Don Airy.

This is Blackmore's band. When Deep Purple broke up, Ritchie still had guitar chops. Dave Coverdale, DP singer, to form White Snake. Ian Paice, DP's drummer, remained the only original member of the band to play under that band. Paice's drumming is awesome. He is ranked up there with John Bonham and Ginger Baker.
