Growing up, I felt wildly insecure due to the way I looked and my financial situation. All I wanted to do back then was fit in, but what I have since realized is that those same insecurities I struggled with back then, actually ended up becoming my strengths. I would go as far to say that most of my success can be attributed to the lessons that I learned from my humble beginnings.
If you have any insecurities or struggles from growing up, I promise you if you watch this full video, you will learn how to take them and turn them into your greatest strengths!

i must say, i think its true. my boyfriend, also stanford grad and harvard grad, former startup founder…he was a scholar at both schools and always hustled. he grew up with his whole family living in one room but got his family out of it. hes a true inspiration and whenever i tell his story to people, everyone feels inspired. he inspires me as well!

This is the realest shit, growing up with the struggle of not having things and adapting to that, has brought a mindset of success that has definitely gotten me to a place so early in my life that I probably wouldn’t have reached otherwise.

This video resonated a lot with me Jay, we have pretty similar upbringing. As a physician in NYC building my own medical practice without outside funding, I’ve made it a point of pride to operate with a chip on my shoulder mentality. You had 3 very well thought out points, and I especially agree with the empathy part. Once you have a solid foundation of knowledge, the soft skills truly make all the difference. I will add, what’s really important if you grow up poor is to have exposure to how richer/more well-educated societies operate- It’s a completely different ballgame, you you also get exposed to different mental frameworks about money, life, etc. There’s cons of being around that society, but as long as you stick to your core values, it can really help propel you to think bigger, etc. Great vids and I’m rooting for you! 💪🏾💪🏾

Hi Jay, i completely agree with your points, that’s why there’s a stat where 78%~ of millionaires are selfmade although maybe not all of them are poor, I wouldn’t be surprised if a large % of them were. Also think a big part is just they understand the other side of being pooor and know what’s it’s like and will avoid it at all cost

This resonates so hard it's insane. I learned how to speak from failing 100s of interviews and slowly improving each time. I would literally listen to hours of case interviews during every workout / run / hike / etc. until I couldn't get it wrong. I now feel better about my ability to present myself over anyone who was taught how to do this from the jump. Great video.

The struggle is so crucial people don't even realize. Having loving parents that will play the debt game to provide the extras is amazing and a life I deeply appreciate being so lucky to have. But that's why I chose to walk to work for the longest time, that's why given the opportunity to focus 100% on my coding bootcamp I chose to continue paying my rent which meant 1 day off every other week. Like everything it sucks in the beginning, but eventually it becomes fun The next big one I want to solidify in my life is the 4:30am wake up. I lasted 1 month last attempt but need more knowledge on nutrition as I lost 7 pounds when I need to be gaining weight. Ultimately I know these challenges can lead to a daily habit and be sustainable rather than a grind/sprint. Just all requires balance, but these are the pieces to my success story.

Awesome video John! Question for you: How did you decide to launch Stan in particular and how did you know it was a "good" idea? Did you do any pre-sales or any other validation? Asking since I'm in this phase right now but feeling a bit lost on which niche to pick.

Once again John with the amazing video! The amount of information from these is astounding, thank you so much for sharing all this John! Update for you though: I have been grinding this week with my business I did some outreach with a whole new strategy where I prioritize building the relationship and providing value, sort of line your trial for Stan! So far so good, building relationships left and right!
