Thank you for addressing the Laura Lee drama. I’m a mom of an 11 year old girl and I always feel for other girls (women) although, like you, do no condone the tweets and actions she did, she is still someone’s daughter, sister, auntie... it’s horrible to think that she doesn’t feel safe in this world. Social media has been her entire life and now that has gone completely down the drain. Does break my ❤️.

You've got a new subscriber in me! I will say though, that if an influencer makes a company hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of dollars from a product mention, then a $60k paycheck isn't absurd. They should get their fair pay. I know it might seem crazy and I absolutely agree that a lot of the influencers out right now are taking paychecks for things they don't believe in and acting like entitled brats, and that SUCKS and needs to change. But a $60k paycheck in and of itself is not wrong in my mind. But anyways, thanks for the great vid and for sharing your personal details, I find it really helpful and interesting! xoxo

Melissa Burwell ...Seriously! Do people think Jennifer Anniston slathers herself with Aveeno for free? I bet her contract is $4-5 million! One 30 sec commercial costs (?) $500,00 to $2 million depending on the time and show! So $100,000 for 30-40 minutes talking exclusively about and using a brand is not AT ALL over the top.

Can ppl not see that these actors are acting to like a product? Btw @Melissa, you nailed it with the comment.👏🏻
@JennsCorner7776 жыл бұрын
Melissa Burwell I agree you don’t always have to really believe in a product and use it to get paid to sponsor a product that’s also how things have been working for a long time, the regular actors not talking celebrities aren’t using those products and believe in them either they are ads or commercials for a reason. I feel like for people to just assume and believe every influencer really likes and really uses and really believes in everything they promote is naive. If they want to be upset about that that’s not their problem they’re laughing all the way to the bank. I’m not offended if someone I watch promotes something that maybe they don’t really love it shouldn’t be assumed that they’re promoting it because they like it no they could be promoting it because money talks honey and I doubt the celebs are using maybelline or boxed dye or aveeno when they can drop millions on really nice expensive makeup artists and procedures and hair stylists in major cities lol don’t get it twisted people.

I made $9.00 an hour as an EMT-I. I worked the same schedule as the firefighters. 24 hours on and 48 hours off. Many of us were struggling just to keep food on the table and provide homes for our families. Ridiculous pay to put your own life on the line to save others. I wasn't in it for the pay, but I still needing to take care of my family. Hard business to be in. People don't think about police, fire, or Emergency Medical people until they need them.
@RardTangler6 жыл бұрын
Nicole Thompson first of all, let me say from the bottom of my heart, you are appreciated. Secondly, I can completely relate. I've worked in Healthcare for 15 years, specifically Home Health for 9 years. We get crumbs for hard work, work that many people won't do. With all that being said, I feel like the reason we're paid like we are is, partly, because most of the money in healthcare is distributed among the higher up, more prestigious positions: pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, Doctors & specialists, and so on. With so much of money being held at the top, not much is left once it trickles down. And I think it's the same in any industry. Here's the fucked up part about it all; if we all refused to work for this pay, they would _have_ to pay us more. We are the wheels that make this economy roll. But most people that work our positions know how badly we are needed, and we know that if we don't work, people suffer. It's such a shitty situation to be in, because we suffer more than people know. But what can we do? My personal feelings on what beauty influencers make is surprisingly positive. These people have all come from nothing, and found a way to make this free market work in their favor. I can't be mad at them for that, because that's what the American Dream is all about. I do feel like this purging of sorts in the beauty community is not only healthy, but inevitable. Manny, Laura, Jaclyn and the rest almost had like a monopoly on the beauty community, not letting anyone else rise to their merit. This movement sort of makes room for other influencers to grow.

Josie Reneitte artists should be paid. But as consumers we should know if a review has been influenced. If bob Ross started yelling about brushes or codes or mlm products it would affect his art. If you are going to complain about influencers, sports, entertainment that keeps us entertained an we have no issue funding our hard earned money into... We can't possibly expect to complain about them making more then our vets etc. These people are being paid off of our own paychecks, pretty much. If we all took our money an kept it out of entertainment, put it in a box to be added into vets EMTs etc paychecks... They would make more then entertainment. That's prob never gonna happen, but i also know that's why they get paid more..It's not like someone is saying "entertainment deserves more.. let's make sure they get paid more"

I don’t get why people get mad at sponsorships or promoting of a product. Any job you do literally does this. I’d even take it as far as saying it’s not uncommon to pretend you like something . You are a rep of whatever company you work for. If I’m a server at a restaurant I have to promote featured appetizers and drinks and this is not negotiable at a chain. Most even have SPECIFIC word tracks you have to use and if you deviate toy can get busted by secret shoppers and get canned . I have also worked in other industries and I obviously wasn’t allowed to bash my company even if I felt a certain policy or procedure was not morally fitting to my ethics. That being said since these gurus are self employed I feel they should be honest in their sales pitches . That’s the only thing I require from them. But I don’t care they get the sponsorships !
@rebeccasuraci76666 жыл бұрын

I don’t understand why people are so shocked. It’s marketing/advertising. Arguably the biggest, most important part of a business. It’s just grown over time into social media. And the “best” or biggest ones will make the most. Just like People magazine probably charged and made more than a smaller magazine. It doesn’t mean they’re good people, it also doesn’t mean they’re bad people just because they make a certain dollar amount (big OR small.) The social climbing is disgusting.

Yes, energy never lies. There's no mistake with what you see manifesting with these people. The problem is people think you can hide your inner world but everything you are truly about will eventually manifest externally. I've never watch any of these creators, and now I see why. We are energetic beings that's why I'm very discipline in choosing the energy I put out mentally, emotionally and physically. As a creator of any field, you need to put out lots of genuine support if you want to manifest genuine support. Master your energy. I can feel your energy as being authentic Jordan, keep it up.

She's came.out with that hot mess, and now no matter what she said or dies is going to be right no matter how much she means or don't mean it.. Here where I'm from and how I was raised. THIS isn't very shocking, if an influencer drives 1 million in sales 150k is a small fee and actually an excellent ROI for the company ! by this logic we should also complain about how much basketball players make, actors, etc. the problem is so many people are haters! i love youtube and would love to do videos but it is a lot harder than it looks and i like many people have not put in the time and consistency to make nikkitutorials $ that girl probably films non stop 24/7 and goes days without sleep.... i have no doubt shes one of the ones making 150k a video but she deserves it. more people need to put in the work and stop watching other peoples pockets.

I don't think how much people make off of sponsorships is too much at all. 60k, 90k, 150k, I think it's a fair price. If a company makes $1 million off because of someone doing a sponsorship, and they charged the company $100k I think that is very fair because it's like getting 10% commission. Sadly the respect for the "top" influencers in KZbin is decreasing by the minute. The catty wars between them is pathetic. I don't condone what laura lee did but on the other hand it was 6 years ago and i don't notice alot of us people of color being as upset about it which kind if tells me we should let it go. People attacking jaclyn hill for her products and It's time to let it go. She did do a bad thing.... doesn't mean she needs her family threatened and all the hate, it's sad. That video needs to be taken down though that was not a good video. And not believable. I follow you because you are raw and real. I don't mind sponsor videos at all. Get that coin. But my issue with some sponsor videos, like a wig review, the products look so good and you get it and it's not the same at all. Ive seen youtuber call the companies out on that for not giving the same quality which i really appreciate. But if you recommend something i always believe it because you are honest about it and passionate and it's raw and genuine. 💕

I really dislike how “spilling the tea” is a thing. The smallest things get blown up to something that ends careers. No one is given a chance to grow from mistakes. You being transparent is awesome though just because someone else isn’t doesn’t necessarily make them bad. But I do lump you in with those like EmilyNoel who are just consistently kind and good hearted. While people love the tea I think while it may take a little longer to be a visible success you gain a following of others who are positive get less overall hate. You also are less likely to let the success go to your head and are more likely to have longevity. Look at EmilyNoel’s pallet release uhhh has anyone been negative? I haven’t seen a single negative thing it’s like “oh a little fallout but who cares EmilyNoel is amazing and sweet”. People support you and cheer for you because you do that for others. I do feel for Laura Lee while her tweets were ridiculous it was 6 years ago and she’s being made to be this horrible person that I doubt she is. Monetary success has likely gone to a lot of their heads but we all need to learn how to give a little grace. No one is perfect.

As just an average consumer/viewer of “influencers”, I don’t begrudge anyone to make money, even if I’m jealous of the amount. What actually upsets me is the rates like $60,000 for ONE video. Yes I understand the work, time, etc but now it’s that person wasting MY time. I know what I’m getting into with commercials and product placement and “normal” advertising. To have someone, I’ve given my time to, abuse it by trying to convince me to buy something just because someone paid them to, without me knowing, pisses me off. Those figures aren’t getting paid for their time, it’s a bribe. I don’t care how hard you work on ONE video or mention, it’s not worth that amount JUST to mention it ONCE to coerce me. I’m sorry, it’s not. If it’s for working with them consistently etc, then yes! Or even a bonus or kickback for driving sales then yes. But not to trick me on purpose and not even be transparent about it. THATS what upsets me because my time is more valuable than money I decide to spend and now I feel used. I thought I was getting to see products from someone with similar skin types or who are funny try stuff out but instead I’ve been duped. Again, on purpose! I can only speak for me but that’s why I feel sick from all this drama. I appreciate your transparency and information that helps people starting out. That’s what we have needed. ❤️

I'm an African American and yes Laura Lee may have been wrong by what she have said or even done, but how many of us aren't guilty of something! I dont feel like other youtubers should criticize or even comment on any other KZbinr downfalls unless it's positive! Her day today and might be another youtuber on tomorrow! To me it takes away from that youtuber's character!...prayer for her and her family! Nothing should be said that would influence your audience decisions about another youtuber....those same ones that talk about her and knock her down will do the same to you. So I will definitely keep you in prayer as well the other youtubers that are trying to make a living...God bless

Here's my thing: I can't forgive Laura Lee. I can't forgive her because she hasn't transgressed against me. I'm embarrassed of her, but it's not my place to forgive. That's up to the people she has offended, people of color. I hope that she redeems herself and I hope that the people she has hurt can make peace and forgive her. So, since I'm in no position to forgive her, I also should not be telling her what she needs to do to gain forgiveness. That's also up to people of color. I think that, sometimes, white people take being an ally as meaning that we should speak on their behalf. They're not helpless, voiceless or brainless. They need our support, not for us to hold their hand. It is our duty to take a step back, let her know we will stand with people of color against racism and allow her to mend the trust she has broken.

When we live in a superficial world where money is king & what you own defines you then yes people will do shady things. But it's a chosen superficial world to live in. I'll reveal my age & say in my 20's I remember feeling the pressure of needing to impress the world with what I drove, wore, lived etc. As I went through life & hard times into my 40's I no longer care. I set myself free from caring to drive the nicest car to impress assholes who I never liked anyhow. I live simply, less is more as you young ones will find. To me I find riches in travel, small moments with my family as simple as watching a sunset, going on a hike, taking a road trip I can now afford because I don't have some crazy house or car payment to pay. I exchanged superficial for seeing the world & I wish I'd done it sooner. There's so much to see so little time! Save your money, live simply so you can afford to travel & experience life. I've raised my girls this way & they all drive around used cars, go to college, work jobs on the side & have learned how to appreciate the money they make not waste it. Its only the way of the world if you choose to jump into that part of the world. Living superficially is literally a choice. Don't let it own you!

The cosmetic industry chooses to pay their employees that so y’all need to be that angry at the voting booths not the damn beauty community

Smaller influencers need more recognition!!!! We work just as hard and it’s very unfair... one day I hope it’ll change. 🙏🏼

don't worry, I have a feeling that smaller KZbinrs will start to rise after all this drama. we need real, relatable people. not highschool cliques

This is the first video I have seen of yours & I agree with you wholeheartedly that there needs to be new top beauty influencers! The drama right now in the beauty community is ridiculous! You are exactly right when you say that what you put out into the world comes back to you because it does, no matter who you are. Thank you for being transparent in this video! KZbin needs MANY more girls like you! By the way, you are a beautiful girl & your story about how you started youtube broke my heart! Nobody is perfect & I think it’s time we just embrace who we are & not try to be like others. I don’t believe anyone needs to be so judge mental about a girls size because what really makes a person beautiful is what is on the inside! Keep shining!! You popped up on my feed & you just earned another subscriber!

She was exposed as a liar on reddit. I don’t trust her.
