Dinger are great for 8ft of water. I love the slow presentation fall and gives time for bass to come check it out also stronger and last longer, other then that then the Senko is better. That slight wobble on the fall with senkos is what makes them special and no other senko style bait seems to do it. Yes, Senkos are pricy. Yes, they're very soft and aren't as durable. But they've earned their reputation and they just flat out work. On days with the worst conditions, on pressured fish, you name it. Don't get me wrong, other senko baits like dingers and even bass pro branded Senkos work too, but I've used Yamamoto Senkos for decades now, and they've never let me down. Green Pumpkin w/ black flake, Watermelon w/ Red Flake, and Black & Blue. I don't need anything else.

Dingers are good if you are on a budget or are looking for a soft plastic to throw in addition to another bait. But senkos are much softer, which is more good than bad because you get more action with a senko on the fall. You also get a much better hookup ratio when texas rigging due to the softness. I usually go with senkos.

Its funny people saying the senko has better movement and wiggles on the way down and whatnot. But is that what bass want? Do they notice it? I see no difference fishing senkos, dingers, stick-o or any other brand. I tried them all and fish 7 days a week. The biggest difference I seen is bass is likely to hit baits it hasn't seen before. If it's been caught on a senko before it's less likely to bite a senko next time. So using a different brand than everyone else in pressured waters will help. The senko being more expensive means less fishermen use it, so that means less bass have been caught and released on one.

The senko may have slightly more shimmy to it, but it falls much faster. In some situations that may be helpful, but I'd wager that for the average bass fisherman just throwing the worm around shallow cover without any additional weight, the slow fall of the yum Dinger would outweigh the slightly better action of the senko
@steve4321able3 жыл бұрын
I use both, Yum when I want that slower fall, if the bass are blowing up on shad in September - October it never made a difference. Stays in the strike zone longer. Yes the shimmy is much less than a Senko but the bass destroy the Yum just the same.

I use Yum Dingers when the bite is on but, when they get really picky I go to a Senko and make sure I rig it right- which is something In see a lot of ppl miss. A Senko has a taper on one side that needs to be turned right to get the maximum wiggle on the fall- it's subtle but it's there and it makes a difference. Also- making sure you hook right in the center, if you're wacky rigging- will make it fall straight down and wiggle all the way to bottom- if you're off to one side or the other it will fall a foot or so then one side drops lower than the other and it planes out, sort of rocking back and forth until it settles- no good.

Fished for most of my life and there is no difference. That extra wiggle that u have to stare at to see has never changed a thing
@conedx5 жыл бұрын
i think the fall speed makes a big difference. that slow fall is nice. i've had far more luck with a dinger than a senko.
@markrobinson48374 жыл бұрын
The Gary Yamamoto has more action on the fall but the yum is more durable and stronger so i think the yum is a better bargain for your money.
@hillbillybassfisherman81816 жыл бұрын
well you already know which has best action the one bent double has more fall an flutter action but there a time an place for any lure
@BigBass-xf5yi4 жыл бұрын
1. Use an “o” ring On your wacky rig, should be a no brained at this point. 2.its not always about the fall rate,but, the “quiver” on the way down. I’ll stick with my yamasenkos.... But I will say, for t-rigging with a light weight or Ned rigging, the dinger will work equally as good.
@johnfleming70176 жыл бұрын
lol not sure what your trying to show us. Yamamoto made those like that for a reason I'm sure. Witch is probably the reason they have the action they do when they fall. I also have more luck with Yamamoto senko but that's just me.

Exactly..........I love the fall ratio
@mlyniecm6 жыл бұрын
It’s all about the rate at which the Senko sinks.

Im a yum dinger person once you figure out what hook to use with them they are crazy just using a regular 3/0 ewg hook for texas and wacky rigged 😂
@1010deathmetal6 жыл бұрын
use a weighted hook with the dinger and it'll fall at senko speed and shimmy more
@matthewbernard41526 жыл бұрын
use a weighted hook on a senko and it gets even better too... what's your point
@KirbysBelt6 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen a video where someone did that and the Senko still outperformed the yum.
@conedx5 жыл бұрын
why would you want a FASTER fall, though?
@ncimson53185 жыл бұрын
All these debates on baits,hooks,reels etc etc, to me whatever works and it all depends on the weather and location. Ive caught large mouth up to 7lbs using a vintage zebco rod and shimano reel (3:! gear ratio) then I decided to go hight tech with tatula rod and reel and all I catch is 1-3 pounders while everybody else is catching 4 and up.. I went back to ace and retured those darn expensive gear lol

I fish both if i want it to gall faster i fish the senko slower the yumm or if i want the yumm to fall fastwr i add nail weights to the ends

I’ve been bass fishing a long time. Senkos are fragile …… but nothing out fishes them. The salt makes them fragile …. but that’s what attracts the fish!

Tough to beat a Senko but if you ask a biologist about that salt thing...
@mikesperanza67945 ай бұрын
@@JayKumarsBassBlaster I have read that blood is salty. They put salt in bait to simulate blood. I catch more,bluegills, etc.; on “Playdough”! Which is made of flower, salt, and food coloring. It works for me!
@conedx5 жыл бұрын
i didn't start using these baits until the middle of last summer because...they look dumb and they couldn't possibly work and why the hell does anyone hook a worm IN THE MIDDLE? DO YOU PEOPLE EVEN KNOW WHAT A BASS IS?!?!?! when i finally started using them i was absolutely blown away by how amazingly well these things catch fish. it's just...what the hell. probably the best lure i've ever used. i've always thought the yum dingers were the cheap "off brand" compared to the senko. the price difference is crazy! but i've always had better luck with the dingers so i use them 90% of the time when using this type of lure. it seems from this video that...yum dingers are actually better? seem to be more sturdy and they fall sooooooo much slower! the fall is where most of my bites come from. i didn't expect the video to turn out that way at all.

Tough to beat the original Yamamoto Senko
@edhanson39055 жыл бұрын
I use both brands and like both but Dinger is WAY cheaper, is more durable, and falls slower than a Yamamoto underwater
@ejzabojnik8344 жыл бұрын
Not really. Other ones work just as well and don't tear up as easily.
@plantcitychuck25514 жыл бұрын
Some people think the more you spend the better the bait but that isn't always the case.at 9$ a bag they want you to buy more so they make them crappier
@fencho43815 жыл бұрын
People defend the Senko because they’re dumb enough to buy em and don’t want to look stupid.
@paulb351 Жыл бұрын
For me durability is 2nd to fish caught
@charlesgarcia68583 жыл бұрын
The difference is salt , one has a lot of salt making the worm more weak and the yum looks like no salt that’s why is more lighter and flexible. If I’m will fishing wake rig I pick yum but if I’m using Texas rig I do Gary.
@chetchelios35742 жыл бұрын
Yamamotos def have a better action but they are super easy to tear . especially on a shakyhead.
@JayKumarsBassBlaster2 жыл бұрын
Believe it's that salt...
@Matthewsavant3 жыл бұрын
Interesting comparison. I’ve been using Yamamotos for years and they’re almost guaranteed to catch bass. I’ve had more luck with those than any other soft baits

walleyes like'm a lot too .. i have caught many more species on Senko , than any other single bait ...

Great video. Thx for making it. But, I will take the Senko every time. Too many fish on it to change now.
