I am always trying to find ways to get out into the wilderness and freeze. I love the deep cold. I love breathing it in and feeling it crack my skin. but I also love staying really warm. I like a good tent, a warm sleeping bag, and a wood stove. I also love when I can make fresh homemade chicken stew while I am in the wild. I get to do all of this in this video.

I’m personally the opposite. I’ve grown up where there’s snow my whole life in the Midwestern US. I’ve grown to hate it. Waking up at 4am to shovel before work, shoveling when I get home, slipping on the ice in the driveway, etc. As an outdoorsman, hiking in the cold (especially in winter when all the trees are leafless) is boring if not outright painful. Snow is great once in a while just to look at for a while. It’s pretty. But that’s about it for me. If I never saw snow again, I wouldn’t miss it. Longer growing seasons, better hiking weather, no frostbite or slipping on ice, all positives in my boom. Great to see others enjoying it though.

So, I went to bed lastnight thinking, "When is Jay going to upload a video? I can't wait!", and lo and behold, I wake up today and here you are. I love the tent, it looked like a jewel in the woods at night. I love to camp, chop wood, etc...specifically in winter but have been completely unable to do so for quite a while. Your videos calm my soul.....thank-you so very much. Oh, I'm a lamb stew girl :)

Fun video! Thanks for taking us camping with you 😊 One little suggestion... Put some spices in that stew. A bit of fresh rosemary, oregano, some basil, and a couple of minced garlic cloves and I bet it would taste even better! Salt and pepper are fine but using other savory spices will take your stew to the next level! 🤤

So funny thing I was watching your video in the kitchen while my wife was preparing vegetable soup. Well our vegetable soup turned into chicken vegetable stew lol. Jay your becoming my favorite KZbinr. I watch Joe, John, Justin, Shawn, northern scavenger but something about the cold winter I love. I live in Ohio but have a place in eastern Ontario and winter is my favorite time up there. Ice fish all day and go back to the cottage and have a warm meal and a good fire going doesn’t get any better.

I like beef stew, but for lunch, not dinner. I think beef is more likely to cause heartburn if eaten too close to bedtime. ( horizontal digestion issues???) Chicken is no problem. Grilled cheese sandwich dipped in tomato soup would be a favorite too, I’m sure, if I winter camped. Just my experience. Your videos are comfy cozy experiences for those of us too old to experience it for ourselves. Many thanks again!

What a nice tent! You must have had a good sleep..the window cracked open a bit..the fan going too? Haven’t seen a sleeping bag that big since the 70s, lined with plaid of course. Comes with its own hockey bag! You were set up pretty good and a homemade meal on top of it! Great video….winter has arrived for you..even the snow is crunchy..brr 🇨🇦❤️🔥

Living in Summery South Africa and not having an aircon just watching your freezing temps cools my granny flat down. Hehe...crazy old Granny Fox. My favorite meat is lamb. Stews and curries but also am mad about curried tripe and offal. Your sky is beautiful and so is the forest. Love Mother Natures outdoor decorating. Jay, if you want good hot pick me up, try ice tea powder with hot water. Good hot refreshing brew. I still love my coffee and tea, but for a little sugar energy on the trail it can't be beat. Put in a thermos and stash it in a pack and you can enjoy on the ride.

Love chicken stew, also make a chicken pot pie that’s delicious. Turkey and Beef chili is a favorite for my family. And, with your oven you could sour dough bread or simple peasant bread in a few hours! I’d try it for sure! Thank you!

I love beef stew with home made buttermilk biscuits !!! My favorite meal ! It saved us children when our parent's left us "home alone ", and my father was arrested for drunk driving in our neighboring state. He was in there for over a week. My mom never drove. The neighbors noticed that our parents were mia, we were were hungry !!!!!

Jay we are campers also (old style), mainly way up north Ontario. Yeah okay, for your chicken, beef and lamb, but try moose (venison), over the fire pit, or on the stove. I like the bag Jay, mine is -23 I think.

Love all kinds of stew... Next time saute up the vegs with aromatics until translucent pull out then brown the chicken and remove while it cools shred or cube. Deglaze the pan with white wine or chicken add stock and remaining ingredients..

I love camping, but i can never fall asleep without at least hearing a fan and it has to be cold or I'm up all night haha so that fan / light would be nice to have while camping Every single person we know has to have a fan on full blast while sleeping, idk how people sleep without them. Just gives you that constant white noise which is very easy to fall asleep to.
