Love, love, love the Bee Gees. I am a black female, 67 yrs old, grew up with them. (A bit lengthy, but a must read.) The Bees Gees: (from left to right) Robin, Barry and Maurice (pronounced Morris) Robin (Dec 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) Passed away as a result of kidney failure. Survived by his wife, Dwina and 4 children Maurice (Dec 22, 1949 - Jan. 12, 2003.) Passed away as a result of a twisted intestine. Survived by his wife, Yvonne and 2 children. Maurice and Robin were fraternal twins. Andy Gibb, (March 5, 1958 - March 10, 1988) the youngest brother, had his own successful career. He was 12 yrs younger than Barry. He and Barry looked so much alike, that they could had been twins. Barry stated that Andy lived the 'LA lifestyle' involving drugs, and he had heart problems. He is survived by one daughter. The brothers wrote all of his songs. Barry stated, "I am the last man standing." He was born September 1, 1946. He has 5 adult children and 7 grandkids. On September 1, 2022, he and his wife Linda celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. (They were married on his 24th birthday.) On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley, who will be 78, January 12, 2023. (that's today!) Maurice passed on the same day as her 58th birthday. Lesley didn't have an interest to be in the limelight, but she can sing. At about the age of 2, Barry reached on the table and a pot of hot tea fell on his chest and arms. You can see the shine on his chest. His mom said he did not talk for almost 2 yrs. Skin grafts were not used in the 40s, so he was in the hospital for a long time. His mom said he almost died. They wrote all of their songs, and songs for other singers. The brothers have a VERY IMPRESSIVE catalogue of songs! What's interesting is they said they cannot read musical notes. They just write the words and hum the melodies. Their band did the rest. These are some of my favorites. But Barry liked it.) Our Love (Don't Throw It All Away) Andy Gibb kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3mZaWl6rt5kbNk At one time 5 of their songs were in the top 10. Another time, four of the songs that were written by them for others were in the top 5. A song that Barry wrote for Andy was #2, but then it went to #1, and the Bee Gees song became #2.

Amazingly they considered themselves as songwriters rather than singers. They wrote the songs that made them famous as well as many others for famous singers. Now Barry’s the only one left but thankfully they left a large catalog so we can enjoy them forever.

Barry, the oldest brother sings lead on most of their songs. The other two are twins, Robin and Maurice (they pronounce it "Morris"). For a different Bee Gees vibe, listen to "I Started A Joke" which is sung by Robin. His voice is a little different than Barry's but it is beautiful as well.

You should watch a couple of documentaries on these guys. They’re brothers. There was a 4th, who was also a singer, but too young to join these 3 when The Bee Gees were formed. The only one alive today is the lead singer. The other 3 died tragically, separately, far too young.

Not only is Barry a supremely gifted singer he is the second most prolific song writer in all of music history, behind only Paul McCartney. The other brothers are actually twins, Robin and Maurice and both sadly passed relatively young. They performed at very young ages on Ed Sullivan back in the 60’s maybe even 50’s. I’ve never heard harmony like their voices before or since. Thank You Sister 🙏🏻

@jayeginn59632 жыл бұрын
The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin'. From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ_MiYaebNuKiKs Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXnCm2xmm6h8oZY, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJerhoZrgstjZrM. From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4Wcp4V-iLyBmM0. From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXKXdHykedOHoZo.

It makes you want to close your eyes...snuggle into that someone special, and sway...until what comes naturally begins.🥰 Such a wonderfully romantic song. This is hands down my favorite Bee Gees song. It is the falsetto that Barry uses so effectively, while Maurice (pronounced Morris in the British/Aussie fashion) goes low and Robin alternates between doing his falsetto and mid-range tenor. The Brothers Gibb were a force to be reckoned with. Sadly, only Barry is still alive. Great reaction.

I still remember slow dancing to this with my first boyfriend. I doubt those lights were chakra colors. That wasn't a thing back then, at least not with them. You have to remember videos were fairly new back then. Unless you were in an onstage type performance or doing a movie, there wasn't much creativity in videos. That changed as we moved into the 80s. Sometimes in these new 'videos' it was the first time seeing a performer unless you went to their concert or saw their picture on an album cover. Sometimes it was a shock seeing what they really looked like. Wow, that sounds like the dark ages! Hard to imagine nowadays.

Heard your comment on one of the other BeeGee Reactions about them always walking around. The Gibb brothers are a quartet of accapela harmonizers. I can imagine that stepping while singing was a good way to keep the beat for cues among the four of them, like snapping or clapping would be for a duet. The BeeGees did their Jive Talkin’ while they were Live Walkin’. All of their music is made for step sway dancing and peacock walking (Disco).
