I was seeing this girl for almost everyday of the summer for 4-5 weeks. we were in a summer internship together, workout after and go beach after. I would see her more than my family and I would always buy us food. I honestly treated her like a princess and she treated me good too. She surprised me when she set up this blanket with flowers, and all my favorite foods, she made me a cake. It was an amazing night, she said that she wasn’t ready for a relationship but I kinda pushed it and was pressuring her about it because of insecurities, and I didn’t want it to end. So the last night I seen her I asked her out and she said she wasn’t ready but she was kissing my cheek after when I drove her home. So I stopped the truck and kissed her, and she reciprocated. I opened her door and thought that it was going great. But the next day she basically said that she don’t kno if she can keep it going and she doesn’t kno if she’s ready. So I respected that and offered her a break, she obliged. At first I was sulking (still kinda miss her) but I realized if she truly like me she would come to me when she’s ready but I felt disrespected. It was wrong of her to do that she was implying that she wants me to wait for her but she doesn’t want me to wait bc it would hurt me more. So I’m going to let it run it’s course if she comes back cool, if she doesn’t it’s not meant to be. But the problem is I’m hoping she does come back. Everytime my phone dings I want it to be her and convince myself to not get excited. But I don’t kno tho shit is annoying. If anyone is reading this thanks for letting me go on. I honestly just need someone to talk to. Don’t really got much friends for this kind of stuff.

A very big thing people overlook tho, even tho you shouldn't fantasize too much and perceive them as someone you think is, a long term relationship requires vision and dreams where both are committed towards. Planning is still crucial, potential is what makes people crave for the future and it takes work to build it. Just know that people who are able to persevere with you through obstacles will be that one you imagined. If not then they're not ready

That early stage of infatuation dominated by the desire to impress, however natural that is, is truly exhausting. At some point you may loose yourself if you attach a large portion of your worth based on how they reciprocate

My mom forwarded me this video because I think she can tell I still have warmth in my heart for an ex - I was with her for two years through the death of her father and we bonded extremely deeply. Sadly things took a wrong turn, we began to mistrust each other, and hid parts of our lives from one another. The relationship took place over covid, and I isolated myself from many family members and friends because her sister has muscular dystrophy (20% human lung capacity). I sacrificed so much of my life for her out of what I thought was "love" - but in reality, she wasn't the kind of girl I could ever make a future with. I was looking at her, a secular jew, to abandon her family convictions and follow me, and felt unloved when she told me she didn't see a future with me because of our cultural differences. It's a shame, but it happens. For anyone currently still processing a loss, be steadfast. Time heals all. Be well

Thanks for sharing the story about how your wife loves you for who you actually are. It reminds me of what I’ve read from a revelation called ”Discernment in Relationship”: ”At the surface of your mind, you might find much agreement, but at a deeper level beneath the surface of your mind, there are only a few who will be able to really recognize you. So there is no need to gain general approval, for this is hopeless if you are to be honest with yourself and honest with others. Seeking approval from people from whom you need something is a fruitless endeavor.” (By Marshall Vian Summers)

Thank you so much for having this discussion. I gone through an emotionally abusive break-up and he told me that I'm a narcissist.... I took it so seriously and i feel sad and awful about myself. I thought I'm bad person just because i want them to stay in my life but he refused to have conversations with me. Then after months of Grieving i realised and understood that "it's nothing to do with me" when someone throwing such words on me. It's their thinking. But now i realised my worth and moved on from this but Still Healing from all this. God gives healing power to everyone who are broken. 🙏❤️❤️

I made it to 7 dates with the last one, before she showed me that all she had was 7 dates in her. We made plans and started charting a future, and you're right that the loss of "7-date-her" didn't hurt nearly as much as losing the "rest-of-our-lives-together-fantasy-her". I don't miss a real person but I do miss an idea of a person I'd built in my mind.

The point of a relationship is that you do create the future together. It's not a bad thing, that's where growth is. Life happens and you are supposed to grow together. It's a risk and that's where love comes in.

I watched the whole discussion between Jay and Matthew before and it was great! Highly recommend it. I also highly recommend watching videos of Guy Winch on the subject matter for those who may be hurting. I'm a little under 7 months out of a relationship right now. She ended it unexpectedly on me. We dated for 8 months and I was absolutely in love with her. (We were best friends for the 8 months prior to dating) I still miss her sometimes, but I realize she's gone and I can't being her back. She showed me her colors. I know she isn't "the one that got away" because if she was "the one" she'd still be with me. And even if the relationship lasted longer, I'd be more devastated to find out later that she didn't feel the same. I definitely am doing better than I was in the immediate wake of the breakup. I am ready to start dating again, but it is genuinely tough to find new people. Hang in there folks! Have faith that things will all work out. I believe they will!

It was so helpful to hear man-talk. I really had no idea that men romanticize potential of a girl, of a future w/them, etc. I thought it was only us girls who did that. It has truly given me hope ! Guess I'm jaded as I've come to believe that most men are after the deed and simply tolerate us as a means to an end. 4:48 desire to impress rather than connect . 6:48 it did not pan out 10:00 fantasizing about potential (hilarious!) *It would hv been - if it should have been*
