Same here, must have been the same day. We were S of Georgina, about halfway along the ice road / ferry route, in 10-12 fow. The jumbos were cruising just over the bottom, and crazy big schools of them. I don’t remember keeping anything under 10”; our group of 4 had at least fifty that were over 12”, with all of us scoring a new PB that morning. 14.75” for me, and my friends had a few over 15.5”. Insane bite, with nobody within a mile of us!

My favorite places to catch perch are little unknown lakes in the middle of nowhere. The biggest perch I ever caught was in a fairly unextraordinary lake in nowhere Michigan, but it was the size of my thigh. Perch are pretty awesome that way

Great video Jay! I had a fantastic time out there last year. It was great to fish for perch while the walleye was closed as well. Just saw a lot of over harvesting in my opinion. Have a fantastic ice season!
@RogueStatusX Жыл бұрын
If you see someone overharvesting, snitch. IDC. We used to have a great perch population where i'm from, i have fished the same body for 30+ years and without a doubt I know the population of perch locally has been over harvested along with the cormorant ban allowing those stupid ass birds to put a major dent in too. It's hard to pinpoint guys overharvesting while boat fishing but i have absolutely called DNR when i've witnessed guys with 50+ perch each while ice fishing when the daily limit is 25. At the rate its going around me, my son wont have an opportunity to fish cause the population will be destroyed

My brother and I took our kids out last summer on the boat and were spanking some dink 12-14 inch walleye, when boom back to back my youngest son and brother hooked into two separate fish that we could tell weren't walleye. They both ended up pulling in 13 inch perch. Actually, the boys was a touch over 13 and my brothers was a hair under but close enough to fib for him. Only perch we caught on that lake last summer too. And we quested hard for more after they caught them. Tons of dinky walleye, a couple big trout, but not another single perch of any size.
