Love my diesel for longer days on the ice there is nothing like hot dry air. The run time on a diesel heater with a big lithium battery is unmatched as well as the space savings cause your heater is outside. But for a short time fishing nothing beats the portability and ease of a buddy heater. Love that you’re trying new things and aren’t just a fud about ice fishin.

Get yourself a kerosene handpump. Keeps it mostly off your hands and just have gloves for you when you need to mess with the cap. If you can take the noise seems like a sweet setup.

About Jack Links, the farm out in WI is pretty neat. I drive by it sometimes on my way out fishing or if I'm going camping. The pasture is huge, rolling green hills, and all the cattle seem really happy to be there. It's a great company and a beautiful location.

There is probably a bunch of comments about this but I’ve many videos with those diesel heaters and when it’s really cold they struggle . The hack appears to be to run the exhaust outside the tent and have the unit inside or add to the intake hose run it inside the tent so that the unit is recirculating the already warm air as apposed to having to heat the outside air . Merry Christmas and all the best in the new year

Hey Jay absolute love those little diesel heaters!!! One thing I did though was I rapped up the exhaust pipe with two layers of exhaust wrap!!! You should definitely try some on yours!!! It definitely won’t get quite as hot with a couple layers of some good quality exhaust wrap!!! And if you do definitely take a bucket of some water in it and then unroll the exhaust wrap and just let it soak for 5 to 10 minutes and then when that is done soaking you can start on what ever end you would like to and you definitely want to pull it as tight as you can so that it will form nicely around the exhaust!!! This also will help the wrap to stay on longer!! Now if you get some exhaust wrap and the package says no need to soak in water but I have never went without soaking in water!! It definitely helps to keep everything nice and tight!!! The other thing you need to do is either get an extension piece of exhaust pipe or definitely don’t point the exhaust towards the airflow in!! If you do it can suck in the fumes and can cause a high reading for carbon monoxide gas and you definitely don’t want that to happen!!! Well I hope this helps you out!!!

Get an inflator/deflator for your mattress. They are small, rechargeable, store in your mattress bag. Loved the pike. Picked up my pb last year on a tiny tik minnow. Approx 42". Barelygot it through the 8" hole. We could see it through the ice like you did. Took our pictures and pit her back. Keep up the good work

Sir, you can change out your fuel cap to a different style of that has a metal pressure relief and can twist closed. Also if it's really cold duct your air inlet into the tent it will save you on fuel. Tight lines sir!
@TheDirksAaron11 ай бұрын
to save yourself some noise in the background as well as fuel and battery you can route the fresh air intake with a tube in the tent as well. This allows the heater to basically recirculate the air in the tent and has to work less at heating the cold air and allows for lower settings which should benefit you all around
@adammolotfishing11 ай бұрын
Atta be Jay. Another quality video. Dreaming of open water kayak fishing and then this. Gets me eager for ice fishing despite these warm southern Ontario temps
@ericczaczkowski550211 ай бұрын
Jay, you should put your air intake tube inside the tent so that you are heating warmer air. It will make the heater way more efficient and keep the temp in the tent higher at lower settings.
@kylejordan265411 ай бұрын
The air intake tube isn't the tube that supply the air for the heat. The Diesel heaters are essentially a mini forced air heater.
@ericczaczkowski550211 ай бұрын
Im not saying the combustion air. Im refering to the air that is pulled over the fins.@kylejordan2654
@jonschroeder591711 ай бұрын
Better yet just move the heater inside. That's how I run mine. You will use 1/2 the power and 1/4 the fuel to maintain the same (or higher) temps. And you can ditch all those ducts! Just wrap the exhaust pipe and run it under the skirt.

Bout time you got a diesel heater! Bring a couple pairs of nitrile gloves for handling the diesel and look at using a hard pick up line installed on a fuel can to limit diesel spills and getting on your hands. This year I’m working on using some silicone oven mats to pass the hot exhaust out of my hub. Tight lines but you already are having a banger season…we’re jelly bro 😢

Recently found your channel - I am enjoying it very much thank you - I have just started Ice Fishing and want to move to Ice Camping. I was wondering if you might share a few things about your set up. For reference purposes I have a Jason Mitchell X5000 Thermal - I like it. I have the same foam floor as you, but I haven't put any holes in yet - what spacing did you use when you drill your 3 holes - I am going to put my panoptics in the middle hole like you did it so 2 rods can use it. Thank you - keep making the great videos
