I think the point that’s missing here is that for most people who like the Polaroid aesthetic..... it’s all about the added imperfections that give them the magic look..... the slightly washed out colour, the slight lack of focus

..like the annoying dark outer circle, the double exposure at the bottom edge, the inconsistency of frame and composition depending on your phone size and then the life expectancy of your lab. I've been through a number of them as the exposure and quality deteriorate quite dramatically, purely from use. I love Polaroid images and particularly the potential of the lab, however the product is both expensive and the quality too unpredictable, mostly awful. It's costing me a fortune, but I keep going back in hope Polaroid will stop being a gimmick and fulfil it's potential as a good arty tool... in a fun sort of a way.

Good job shielding the photos from light at the end of the video...

Super well made vid, thanks for the tip on trying to print black and white on color and having big white spots in actual colored pics - that seemed to be the biggest issue I faced.

It will probably not work--I think it will either print with the crack visible on the final picture, or the Lab will not be able to recognize the screen. I have the lab and have played around with what it will be able to recognize or not. It is getting better--the occasional app updates make it easier for the Lab to regognize and print more accurately, but there are still some corcumstances that don't work

Very nice review, I have a lab and I can totally agree on your findings. I am totally happy with the lab tho.

Thanks very much! Yeah, it's got its quirks, but it's still a groovy device and I'm happy with it all in all.

The way you take out the photos from the lab and the camera, you're ruining them. You should not expose them to light the first few seconds, yet you hold them up to the light directly. So don't be surprised if they come out a bit shitty.
@Artaius5 жыл бұрын
Yep, I'm aware of how instant prints are supposed to be handled - you can pretty much ignore the B-roll and footage here, as it isn't how I handle the prints when I'm not filming for a vlog! That said, in my (admittedly anecdotal) experience using Polaroids for 30 odd years, there is very little real difference when you handle them "properly".
@ernst5654 жыл бұрын
@@Artaius you should be ashamed of yourself!! lol jk. I had a polaroid when I was a teenager and I agree. The difference between proper handling and doing what i used to do which was fan them to make the photo come out quicker (still don't know if this technique is actually legit) was miniscule. I mean its an instant photo

P.S. you published this video on my birthday....so that's a good sign for the camera Lab...thanks for the demo. Still trying to find out how much the cost is for the printer film and how long will the ink last in the printer lab? Thanks again 😊
@itsliuxiang4 жыл бұрын
@@priscillaannyates227 Polaroid-like photos don't need ink, they reveal through a photochemical proccess. Using printed photos won't work because this proccess need light exposure to reveal the photo. The print will come out totally blank.

The lab also causes an outer circular dark clouding or vignetting. The only way to remove this, is to scan and work an image in photoshop. That is very problematic. In theory the lab is a great idea, but it appears, falls well short.. Does anyone have a solution for this vignetting problem?

why would u waste color film like that, the app clearly has different configuration for bw and color film
@Artaius5 жыл бұрын
Because people are going to buy (and, in fact, have bought) colour film thinking they can get away with printing black and white images. Gotta think about the folks who will try such things!
