Normally in Kerala for 5 km autorickshaw ride charges 200rs. But here he asked only 200 rs for whole day ride also he did a role of a tourist guide. It's insane. Even 1000 rs isn't enough for all this. Poor guy

What you've said about casteism in Laundry area is correct, but in Kerala upward mobility isn't that much of an issue compared to rest of the country. It is due to social welfare programs focusing on accessible public health, education, land reforms as well as an active civil society. It isn't perfect by any means and we still have a lot of issues to tackle, but you can't see absolute poverty and extreme rich-poor divide like in some other parts of the country. We are also one of the most religious pluralistic states in India due to us being a spice trading hub for over thousands of years. Throughout the years we had contact with Romans, Arabs, Chinese and later the Europeans colonialists like Portuguese, French, Dutch and British. Along with the traders came different religions like Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Many of them reached our shores more or less at the same time as they were founded and they all are an integral part of state's culture and identity. From what I've seen Sasi Chettan is a quintessential Malayali.
