“I am on my own journey.” This is a most excellent mantra! It’s a fine balance between seizing the day because we are not guaranteed tomorrow and also breathing into the amount of space and time we really do have. By really practicing presence in the Now, I touch that balance. I have to be intentional about it, though.
@JaySwanson9 ай бұрын
That's not a bad thing imo. I think we forget the value of intention in how and who we choose to be. Our actions mean a lot, and the automatic ones could be argued to be less important as a result (unless they need changing of course 😆)

Salut Jay. This was only my second of your vlogs, and I loved the way you expressed yourself and your thoughts and your aspirations. Moi-meme, there have been many times when I wished my life had been 'happier' -- life can be pretty lonely -- yet, the places I've visited (including Paris) and the activities I've enjoyed, have made my life interesting enough that I feel content on my life's path. There's always been a tendency to compare myself to others with either better finances, relationships, or opportunities, but in the end I am the person who is choosing my path, with the resources I have available to me. I hope someday to visit Paris again, this time with my daughter, and revisit the 14th Arrondissement, and the Quartier Latin, and enjoy all the richness the city has to offer. Sharing a coffee in person would be a pleasure. Merci et Vive la Journee.

One of the hardest but most freeing realizations I've had to come to is what you're saying: no one else is going to do this for me. If I'm unhappy or want my life to be different, I'm the only one who can make that happen. It's sad at first (childhood stuff there) but ultimately is empowering. I get to craft my own life. It gives much more weight to the little choices every day.

Thanks for the coffee talk. I think you're really going to enjoy your 40s. I have. Even if life has been tough for me the past decade I enjoy how I just sink more into my own true nature each year and feel more and more grounded in that. When my mother-in-law married my stepfather-in-law, she wanted to do something with him. He was a string bass player with the local symphony so she took up the violin at age 39 and they played together every day. She died suddenly in her 50’s. My husband went to help pack up the house and asked his stepfather for the violin. He said to learn it, come back and audition for it. So at the age of 39, my husband started playing violin. He did go back and got the violin and played with a local philharmonic before moving to France. He still plays and I love hearing the improvement. I don’t drink coffee, but I had a cup of tea and I loved the cup that was chosen !

You're welcome! Loneliness is something I certainly used to believe I suffered alone. The only way to realize that's not the case is to connect with others, and then you see it's a broad problem indeed. Thoughtfully deciding what you want out of your life is something that so many put off doing. It is good that you are doing it now but as someone who is older than you life can be long but it can be shortened unexpectedly in so many ways. After losing some pretty significant people in my life it just reinforces how uncertain life is and how important it is to not delay too long in making the changes you want or being with the people in your life that matter most.

These are some great insights! Really enjoyed this one. I have 100% the same components for my coffee setup, even that same grinder. How many grams of water did you use for 35g coffee? Also, I find that it tastes over extracted if I dump all the coffee in at once, so do you prefer it like that or maybe it was just because you were filming… just some questions and observations! Also, I signed up for your guide almost only for your 3rd wave coffee shop recommendations. Noir in the 16th was a solid recommendation since we stayed near the Trocadéro. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks for the content!
