He's right, I've owned the truck for a year, it rolled a lot! I feel Traxxas could have done better with the handling instead of making it look so scale...

And the funny thing about this is as people are saying I was trying to make the UDR handle bad. Somebody even tried to reference a video I did several months ago. What they don't realize the video I shot several months ago was on 4S lipo it was not on 6s. There's a huge difference in handling between the 4S in the 6s with the UDR. If I had ran it on 4S in this comparisons people would have complained about that so when it boils down to it no matter what I did people would have found a way to complain about it.
@JayTeeRC5 жыл бұрын
Yep you're right the UDR is design more for scale and the Mojave is not. I believe several people have even mentioned itand even the president of arrma had mentioned it. But for straight out running and bashing like we run our RC cars full independent suspension and open difts make a night and day difference.

If anyone is so worried about the rolling, take off the damn spare tires. Lol. I've honestly never rolled mine as much as this one video. It rolls, but grass is the UDRs nemesis. In dirt and gravel I've actually only rolled it once or twice. Solid axle, regardless of make, requires a lot more skill to drive. The Mojave is independent suspension all the way around. Never seen a desert truck built that way. I've got a Losi Super Rock Rey built the same way and it rolls as well. Solid axle, but not locked. The SRR is a lot faster obviously on 8s and also requires some effort to drive. The Mojave suspension is more comparable to a Slash, or any independent suspension platform. The absolute only thing the Mojave and the UDR have in common is the ability to run on 6s.
@TheBigToe695 жыл бұрын
Lane Waite And the only thing the Kraton 8s and Xmaxx have in common is the 8s capacity and yet they are constantly being compared. 9 out of 10 people will see the bodies on both these trucks and decide that way. Btw, the Maxx has terrible stability issues as well as the Udr.

Arrma seems to have it's sights locked in on Traxxas and is bringing it to them. Maybe Arrma is becoming to Traxxas as Kawhi Leonard is to LeBron James. "I'm not comin' to play wit ya...man, I'm comin' to get ya!" Boooooom! Now I've never owned anything Arrma but if I had to choose between this and the UDR, the Mojave looks to be the winner so far. I wanted a realistic handling and looking trophy truck, so I went with the UDR. I don't go out and drive R/C's everyday, I don't have a bunch of them in my garage (only the UDR). I wanted something to work on at home with a beer, painting all the smaller bits and pieces while upgrading some of the suspension components- as well as something to go out and bash on. However, I also wanted a truck that when I take the body off and put some 1/10th jack stands under it and people look at it, they're seeing a near perfect representation of what a real trophy truck looks like. Rotors, calipers, tubular frame, radiator, limiting strap, etc. That's part of the fun for me, so that's why I chose the UDR. You can say that Mojave is a faster truck or a better handling truck, true- but you can't say it's a trophy truck (maybe "it has a trophy truck body"), or you can't say it's more realistic truck since it's running a unibody w/ independent suspension. Apples to oranges for real- but objectively, one isn't 100% better than the other. Ask a real trophy truck to do 150 mph in a terrain like grass, but scale it up 30%, then have them do a hard left/right turn and see what happens. Yes- it's an RC truck, but it's also striving to be something more- and it shouldn't be penalized for that.

Interesting. Agreed the udr rolls a lot on short grass. ( I had one and was amazed by how bad it roll’d) it is a relatively narrow/ scale car though. In dirt or slicker surfaces it handles much more predictably. Looking at the arrma. It’s no doubt much less twitchy than the udr with it’s independent suspension and cd/ open diffs. ( as you would expect) I do personally think the 2 cars although in ways similar are very different. Someone after a scale , fast desert truck won’t b fooled by just a body and will want the udr. Pure bashers that like the sct look will want the arrma.

Have had three UDR but I can easily say the Mojave is the superior. The UDR is more scale especially in the chassis design but its live axle rear suspension doesn't handle as well as the Mojave with its fully independent suspension. The UDR does flip over and cartwheel way too much and its chassis and other components are too fragile and don't get me started on the ridiculously weak tail shaft.. Across the three UDR I had in the 12 months I must have gone through 30 tail shafts which aren't cheap either. The Arrma Mojave in many ways is a simpler layout design but its definitely far more durable. Now owning the Mojave I kinda have a lot of regrets spending so much money on the UDR especially when my brand new 2nd one broke its tailshaft in less than 5 minutes of its first run and that was running on 4S.. 6S is too much for the drive line to cope with.

I’m not a Traxxas fan, never have been but I love my UDR. It did roll quite a bit out of the box. I’ve only run it on 6S, and with a few minor tweaks to the shock preload, it handles much better than stock. I can do nearly full throttle drifts around corners, on pavement, with the TSM turned down to about the 8 o’clock position on the dial. I did change the centre diff fluid to 50k which helped quite a bit with handling on high traction surfaces. As for durability, I can’t complain about it. I think part of the problem is that people mash the throttle from a dead stop on high-bite surfaces rather than rolling forward slightly before hammering the throttle. One time I hit a rock the size of a small bowling ball/softball at full speed. It dislodged the rock and sent it flying about two feet off the dirt trail. I thought that the UDR was going to have parts dangling from it when I ran up to it, but to my surprise, nothing broke. Try turning the TSM down or off on high bite surface, and letting off the throttle when approaching a turn, then turn and hammer the throttle to drift out of the turn and you’ll roll less often. The Arma is built on a pan chassis with 4 wheel independent suspension so it should handle better, but it doesn’t mimic a true desert truck like the UDR. I guess it all depends what you want from your RC when deciding between the two. I just really like how Traxxas designed the UDR to look and drive like a real desert racer hence why I bought one( after saying I’d never own a Traxxas for years😂..made me eat my own words ). Good comparison video indeed!

Fantastic comparison, you are on point all around. Traxxas looks more scale, Arrma drives better. One thing, though, Arrma is starting to creep up in price, which is making Traxxas not seem so crazy anymore. Arrma has to be careful - yes it handles better because it's based on a car, basically, but the body isn't as detailed and the radio is terrible compared to what Traxxas provides. Be honest - is the Mojave 6S the equal in terms of features and innovation of the Nero, which used to cost $600? That seems like a bargain today!

@KnightsOutdoorAdventures4 жыл бұрын
I believe the udr flips easier do to the lock rear axle. Open diffs helps from flipping they both look awesome. I am actually doing research right now on what short course truck to get. I love the rear suspension setup on the udr thats why it keeps pulling me in that direction

I love arrma and my favorite vehicle is the senton. But am i crazy because i still really want the udr? They way it looks and i love watching the suspension work. I will eventually get the mojave but that udr looks so damn good. Does anyone think ill be disappointed with the udr? Opinions welcome.
@kingwillie2065 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you are looking for. If your pockets are deep and you love the idea of a capable scaler get the UDR. If you don’t care about scale and want a reliable pure basher go with the Arrma. I have a custom 8S UDR and it is everything I wanted and more, but I also have at least a dozen other options to chose from, so there is no need to tear my UDR up for no reason.

Removing the spare wheels could improve the behavior of UDR a lot, I guess. Anybody tried this?
@MotorMenaceFPV4 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing, when I tried it things got worse unfortunately. My thinking is it needed the weight for traction, but the weight has such a high center of gravity she just rolls constantly. Its extremely disappointing really. 😕 After seeing this video I'm certain I should have gotten the Mojave instead. I had been warned too that's what's worse.
@timt13464 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't regret the decision too much. It's impossible to make everyone happy and I'm sure there are things to nit-pick on the Mojave. The best can always get better. The UDR is still a really, really good truck in its own right.

I’ve had both sat next to each other in the model shop. I would have the Mojave for my sort of RC. However the udr is absolutely stunning. I just wouldn’t want to break it. The udr looks better

Please take them to compare also on loose gravel or sand. Cuz thats the UDR is designed for. There the UDR can play out his strenghs.
@JayTeeRC5 жыл бұрын
I would but I'm pretty much done with comparing these two. This is just a quick video that I said I was going to do side-by-side and I just happen to be outside and decided to go ahead and do a quick run of it. UDR is more of a shelf Queen and then to take out and do a quick demo and that's it. For as far as I'm concerned with it. I know other guys put a lot of money and stuff into doing it and bashing it but not me :-)

What this shows me is that Traxxas has invested in flash and marketing, and ARRMA has in speed and durability. One is convincing you with words, the other with their product.

yo have you look in to a dust cover yet the Mojave is one big dirt collector I know dusty motors has a Universal Adjustable Protection Cover I was thinking about trying it

I have the Losi Bay Rey 1/10 scale. I thought to lock the rear diff. Decided not to. Have you tried taking the lock diff out? Love the content! Keep it up Jay Tee!!!

UDR, handles well/scale IMHO I have 2 of them. Total scale, much more than the ARRMA. And let me say they are tough as could be! Not made for bashing yet can handle anything I throw @ it. Jumps,roll-overs, Landing on side,back,nose down... 💖
@scottg4292 жыл бұрын
On my Mojave blx it only came with one shim on the ring gear side of the rear diff. I’ve been told adding another one will tighten up the gear mesh and I’m not sure if I want that. What are the pros and cons of adding another?
@mariobianchi19095 жыл бұрын
Mojave looks much more powerful, stable and tough. The Udr looks more like a static detailed model for exposure purpose

I have had my UDR since spring and run it many times if you are rolling it often, I’m thinking your disappointments are related to your driving skillz the truck is definitely a great handling truck in skilled hands 😜 I LOVE the way it handles and have had it on everything from sand dunes to a race track and also have not broken anything AT ALL running on 6s( I have also let other people drive it). I DO drive it hard enough lol but it’s not unstable to me at all. Just saying

actually, the roll is very realistic because the real truck is very easy to roll on the track. I guess you could say Traxxas did a good job at making it scale xD

looks of it, the mojave is faster and durable than the UDR. Arrma all the way!

Jay Tee I wonder if you swapped for the open diffs for the Udr? I did it on mine, and handleing was night and day after that. It's an easy and cheap upgrade. Nice vid, keep up, Cheers mate !

Which of the two is faster I like the body of the udr thats about it
@kevinharvey37175 жыл бұрын
I'm liking the arma one better especially for that price you mentioned, it didnt roll and was faster. I'm a traxxas fan but I think traxxas could have done a bit better, the udr is like a big slash.

Jay Tee! Hey can you do a video with the Super Baja Rey 2.0 vs these two. Maybe some drag racing, and a stand up track race like you do in that mall parkinglot. I feel that would be good content. Enjoy your videos Bro.

Hi Maybe UDR is flipping due to the 2 tires in the trunk, this weight is high on the end of the car
