Great song. 👍. The girl dancing is called “the Dancing Troll”. They use this video loop of her on lots of music vids. It’s said that no one can figure out her true identity although there’s been lots of speculation! This is basically how I looked, dressed and danced back in the day. We all did 😁 I miss those days!! @bradsmack1
@bradsmack1 4 жыл бұрын
Yep, Burrows had an incredible career! Solid work schedule, tons of hits, and no one recognized him when he went out! Tony was also the lead singer of The Pipkins ("Gimme Dat Ding" #9 in 1970), and on "Beach Baby" by First Class #4 in 1974, and The Brotherhood of Man ("United We Stand" #13 in 1970). None....I repeat....NONE of those groups were anything but a studio concoction (after Tony left The BOM, they gelled as an actual band and toured)! In other words, no touring was necessary, because there were NO actual groups!! Tony was the man! Still going strong at 78! Tony's life and career are well worth digging into, not only to discover a talented man, but maybe some new favorite music!

Fun fact: Edison Lighthouse was named after the Eddystone Lighthouse off the coast of Devon England. The band later dropped the Lighthouse and became just Edison. 1970, No. 1 UK, No. 5 US. The Eddystone Rocks on which the lighthouse stands are an extensive reef approximately 12 miles (19 km) SSW off Plymouth Sound, The Pilgrims were the English settlers who came to North America on the Mayflower and established the Plymouth Colony in what is today Plymouth, Massachusetts named after the final departure port of Plymouth, Devon.

The message makes you happy to be alive, it's so simple, yet it says so much about a girl who's a little bit off center but spreads love wherever she goes, you can't help but fall in love with her. Lead Singer Tony Burroughs had big hits with 5 different "One Hit Wonder" Bands: White Plains "My Baby Loves Lovin'" The Pipkens "Gimme Dat Ding" First Class "Beach Baby"---the only surf song by a british band ever to chart. You should check this one out, it's fantastic. Brotherhood of Man "United We Stand. He appeared on BBC TV's "Top of the Pops" show fronting two different bands on the same show four different times.

Lol! She looks like she’s directing traffic, the ones that really get into it make moves like that. The song is good, a catchy tune.

The lead singer, Tony Burrows, also sang lead on one-hit-wonders: "My Baby Loves Lovin'" with White Plains, "Beach Baby" with The First Class and "United We Stand" with The Brotherhood of Man. He was a one-hit-wonder man! Great reaction!

LOL! My mom’s name was Rosemary and she hated this song. So of course we’d crank it up every time it came on the radio.

Loving your channel. A joy to watch your smiling face. Don't know where Rosemary goes, but I would like to know. Great song with feeling. Another great song from around the same time is, '' Bringing on back the Good Times''. By The Love Affair. Another great British band.

You need to check out some tunes by The Association... Their harmonies are probably my third favorite after Bee Gees and The Mama's and Papa's... 60's gold... My favorite is Everything That Touchs You...

WOW!! Jay you bringing back so many memories, I have not heard this for decades, and still knew the words. The good old days when some people had no rhythm, this was typical then, they knew a few dance moves and pretty much did them to every song.

Oh the memories that this song invokes, and the minidress, I remember wearing them and the girls at school turning the waistband to make their skirts shorter lol. White stockings with a grey skirt and black shoes were worn by many schoolgirls back then lol. I love this song and haven't heard it in years, thank you Jayvee and your reactions are great lol. Take care and stay safe please everyone God bless you all love hugs and peace Mary-Ellen UK

There are many videos of this song but I do remember when the girls did dress like this even though I was only 6 when this song came out. I remember the 70's better just because I was a teenager then. My oldest brother if he was alive could she dd's some light on how they dressed at the time. I just love to see the reactions from the younger generation and appreciate the fact that this and many songs from the past are still being listened to and enjoyed. Good choice.
